Comfortable with whatever Milan could throw his way, and made a huge save on El Shaarawy late on to preserve the result.
While Demichelis occupied himself with Pazzini, Weligton took care of the other loose ends in the centre of defence, blocking a few crosses and patrolling well at the back.
Marked Pazzini completely out of the game, and stood up to everything that Milan could throw at him. Never looked like being bested tonight.
He was quickly targeted by Milan as a weak link at the back, as the Italian side focused much of their attacks down his flank. His shoddy positioning allowed the likes of Emanuelson in behind on more than one occasion. He solidified in the second half, though, and provided a good support option out wide, testing Amelia with a stinging drive.
Not always put under a lot of pressure defensively, and as a result, spent most of his time supporting the attack. One marauding run forward ended up winning a first-half penalty as he was clipped by Constant.
The young Spaniard gave another display of his potential with an active display in the attacking third. Drifted across the lines to great effect, combining well with a few of his team-mates. A difficult customer for the Milan defence to keep tabs on.
Worked hard alongside Iturra in the Malaga engine room. Kept things simple in his distribution, and was always quick to track back into his own half.
His influence was not as profound as Joaquin or Isco, but he still showcased a few nice touches on the ball whenever he got involved in play.
The winger was a constant threat, linking well with Isco and causing the Milan defence no end of problems, but he wasted a chance to put his side in front as he failed to find the target with a penalty. He would make amends though, with a well-timed run and composed finish to break the deadlock in the second half.
Consistently drove Malaga forward with tenacity in the challenge, and quick distribution once the ball was won. Did not allow Milan any space in that vital area just in front of the 18-yard box, and ran his socks off all game. His contribution was not limited to his off the ball work, however, as a delightful clipped pass set up Joaquin for the opener.
Though he often looked to run into space and get on the end of crosses and through balls, the defence marked him well, meaning that he did not often have a sight on goal. His movement kept the defence honest though.
A fantastic fingertip stop on Eliseu's long-range piledriver was the highlight of a solid display from the stopper, who had little chance with Joaquin's goal.
An accomplished display in defence from Bonera, with his man-marking job on Saviola in particular standing out. The highlight of his display was a superb sliding challenge to deny the Argentine forward a one-on-one with Amelia.
Generally sound in his defending, but looked a little short for pace whenever he was forced to venture out to the flanks to cover Joaquin or Isco.
M. De Sciglio
Managed to get forward on a number of occasions down the right flank and more often than not, his delivery into the box was of a good standard. Gave his side some much-needed width when things looked congested in the middle.
Stretched at times as Malaga looked to exploit the flanks at every opportunity, and during one costly sequence, he found himself positioned too far ahead of the backline, allowing Joaquin in behind to slot home the opener.
Plenty of commitment from the veteran midfielder, who pulled off a number of successful tackles and was virtually indomitable in the air. But his labored play when defending on the counter in the second half hindered his team.
Did not affect things much offensively, and was given the run around by Joaquin whenever he squared up to the Spanish winger. Rattled in the first half, and an ungainly tug on Gamez conceded a penalty moments before the break.
Kept his head in attack to distribute the ball effectively, and was always available as an option for his team-mates when under pressure. However, there was not enough movement or collaboration in front of him to really make a difference.
Had his moments in the first half where he stole in behind Eliseu to cause Malaga some problems, but otherwise, he drifted in and out of the game.
Another game, another blank from Pazzini. He deserves a small bit of sympathy as the service around him was virtually non-existent, especially since he is too limited a player to make something out of nothing.
S. El Shaarawy
Threatened intermittently with his pace, and had two great chances to drag his side back into the game in either half, but sent one off target while seeing the other saved.
