The Spaniard had surprisingly little to do but his handling was solid and distribution accurate. Could do nothing about Hernandez's equaliser.
A mature display from the young right-back, especially in the way he covered for his centre-backs. Rarely ventured forward.
Overplayed at the back on one or two occasions but the Spaniard's quality on the ball was outstanding. Provided a key attacking outlet for the hosts with his skill, passing and crossing.
Confident performance from the Slovakian was epitomised in the first half when he went on a marauding, 50-yard run. Always competitive in 50-50 challenges and dealt well with Welbeck's movement.
Organised the Liverpool defence with skill, although he will be asking questions as to how Hernandez was allowed to head home United's equaliser unmarked.
The Liverpool captain looked a little ring-rusty on his return to the starting line-up but opened the scoring with a free-kick from 20 yards in the 68th minute. Dangerous first-half delivery evaded everyone and skipped wide of the post.
Found himself on the periphery of the game and made poor decisions when he was involved. Wasteful crossing and offered little in the final third.
Showed good anticipation as the anchor in Liverpool's midfield but lost some bite after booking for late first-half challenge on Park. Replaced by Henderson in the 57th minute.
The Scot appeared to struggle with the frenetic pace of the game but his left foot was always a danger. First-half free-kick was beaten away by De Gea and 'won' the free-kick for Gerrard's goal after going down under a challenge from Ferdinand.
The Uruguayan's trickery in the box and shot saved by De Gea was the only highlight of the first half. His movement was a constant threat to the United defence.
Worked hard up and down the Liverpool right and could have scored late goal, but saw his volley saved by De Gea.
A highly impressive performance from the Spaniard. Stayed big in the 34th minute to produce an excellent reaction save to deny Suarez and kept out late efforts from Kuyt and Henderson. Had no chance with the Liverpool goal as his wall let him down.
Tidy on the ball and strong in one-on-one situations against Downing, while also reading Suarez's movement out to United's right side. Looked a little more vulnerable when Enrique charged forward.
Solid alongside Ferdinand, although could have attacked the ball more at times. Survived claims for a penalty after Kuyt's header struck his arm.
A mixed performance from the England international. At times he was excellent, both with and without the ball, but his positioning was often poor in an unfamiliar midfield position. Headed wide from a tight angle in the first-half.
United's stand-in captain was solid defensively and was posed few problems by Kuyt. Looked dangerous on the few occasions he supported the attack, which included one good cross for Jones.
Beaten by Suarez on one or two occasions but generally strong in one-on-one situations, reminding us why he may still have a future at Old Trafford. Unfortunate to be penalised with the award of the free-kick for the Liverpool goal as contact with Adam seemed negligible.
The veteran midfielder seemed very weak in the United wall as Gerrard opened the scoring for Liverpool. Classy on the ball but lacked the support of runners in front of him.
A typically hard working performance from the South Korean on the right side of midfield. Excellent support for Smalling but panicked on the ball in the final third.
Not quite the all-action display we have come to expect from the constant but he was calm in midfield and took up good positions.
Had few opportunities to make his mark on the game as United prioritised defending and showed little attacking ambition.
Found it hard in the first 70 minutes as he had little space to operate and virtually no support from his team-mates. Far more impressive late on when he was able to link-up with the likes of Rooney and Hernandez.
- 34 A. Lindegaard
Replaced Young in the 69th minute. His pace made United more vibrant in attack and he took the corner from which Hernandez scored.
- 16 M. Carrick
- 25 A. Valencia
- 8 Anderson
The Mexican replaced Jones in the 76th minute and grabbed a point for United with a predatory header from close range nine minutes from time.
Replaced Park in the 69th minute and played mainly in central midfield. Produced some tidy passes and avoided any controversy.
