Lille cruised to a comfortable victory...Lille a 3-0 victory over Nancy and allowing them to extend their lead atop Ligue 1 to four points.
Nancy had managed to hold Le Championnat’s top scorers goalless to half-time, but Pablo Correa’s side collapsed immediately after the break. Gervinho found himself through on goal and was sharp to punish the Lorraine side.
Before 50 minutes were played, Gervinho had played a pass to Hazard, who beat his marker before finishing with a side-footed shot.
There was to be no immediate relent from Rudi Garcia’s side, who had soon killed the game off with their third of the evening. Moussa Sow’s shot was parried by Damien Gregorini, but Gervinho was sharply in on the rebound to strike once more.
Even in the first half, les Dogues had been the more forceful side. Gregorini made an early double save and would also deny Yohan Cabaye, who saw his penalty blocked.
Late on it could have been worse for Nancy, who were reduced to 10 men when Andre Luiz was dismissed. Pierre-Alain Frau had an effort chopped off for offside as LOSC pushed for a fourth, but three was more than enough.
For the first time since the early weeks of the season, Ligue 1 has a leader who enjoy a comfortable cushion. With Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille on the horizon, Lille will want to keep their pace up and ideally extend their advantage before those fixtures.
