Although Palermo dominated possession, they lacked a cutting edge in the final third, meaning the Lazio goalkeeper was rarely tested. Did make one impressive stop when he tipped Pastore's glancing header over the crossbar in the 33rd minute.
The left-back was rarely troubled in the first half as Palermo constantly looked to attack down the opposite side, but Cassani came into the game in the second half and got past Radu more often than he probably should.
Made a rare appearance at the heart of the Lazio defence and was competent enough, as he helped repel Palermo's attempts to make the breakthrough. Should have scored with a diving header in the second half.
Had one dodgy moment in the 33rd minute when he booted the ball out of his own goalkeeper's hands. That aside he was a composed figure at the heart of the Lazio defence who played an important role in his side's clean sheet.
His situation mirrored that of Lazio's left full-back in that he was constantly under pressure from Balzaretti in the first half but rarely tested in the second.
The Brazilian's impact was limited by his side's decision to sit back and protect their lead, but he still had his moments. One rasping shot early in the second half drew an decent save from Sirigu.
Was particularly impressive in the opening stages as he helped his side control the game with his intelligent and incisive passing.
Made a crucial contribution with two defence splitting passes for both of Sculli's goals, while also hitting the target with a powerful free-kick and setting up Stendardo for a gilt-edged chance near the end.
The hero for Lazio, scoring two early goals to give his side the win. One was a calm and composed finish while the other was a fantastic opportunists goal in which he beat Sirigu to the ball to head into the net.
Played wide on the right and only really produced one moment of the magic that he's capable of when he raced down the line and whipped over a dangerous cross in the 63rd minute.
Ploughed a lone furrow up front and saw little of the ball as his side sat deep, allowing Palermo to keep the ball. Showed some nice touches and flashes of skill when he did get the ball.
The Palermo shot stopper made a howler when he raced from his line to punch Ledesma's clipped pass clear but was beaten to the ball by Sculli. Made one decent save to deny Hernanes.
The flying left-back was given even more of a licence to roam than usual by starting at left wing back. Was his side's best player in the first half as he bombed forward at every opportunity but was much quieter after the break.
The only defender in the Palermo defence who looked reasonably assured. Also found himself taking free-kicks, one of which almost lead to a goal for Nocerino.
Was all at sea in the opening stages as pass after pass was sent in behind him, leading directly to both of Sculli's goals. Appeared to have no idea of how to play in a back three.
Young Slovenian was replaced at the break as Cosmi shuffled his pack in an attempt to get back in the game, but he could not be blamed for either goal.
Played at right wing-back and wasn't too clever as he allowed Munoz to be exposed on the right of the back three. Raised his game in the second half and sent over a series of low crosses, but found no takers.
The in-demand Argentinian showed flashes of inspiration in his position just off the lone frontman. Had one header superbly saved by Muslera, but was offered little to work with by Hernandez and struggled to break past Lazio.
Apart from Munoz, the Slovenian was the player most affected by the change in formation. But he made a decent fist of his new position in central midfield, spraying passes about while testing Muslera with an effort early in the second half.
Was particularly prominent in the first half as he constantly looked to get on the ball and drive his team forward, but appeared lost with out Migliaccio and Bacinovic in the second half and faded.
Anchored the midfield in the first half and provided little protection as Ledesma was allowed to pick passes at will. Moved back to sweeper in the second half and was rarely tested.
Played up front and offered little besides effort. Regularly lost the ball and ran into trouble while offering no threat in the final third.
- 12 T. Berni
Replaced Matuzalem in the 90th minute.
- 2 S. Lichtsteiner
Took Hernanes' place, but only had 13 minutes in which to make an impact.
- 81 S. Del Nero
Tried his best to get involved after coming on for goalscorer Sculli. Made some interesting forays down the right and even popped up in defence to make one important contribution by chesting behind for a corner.
- 18 L. Kozák
- 99 F. Benussi
- 29 S. García
The 19-year-old Ghanaian was thrown on with 14 minutes remaining but it was too big an ask for him to change the game.
- 4 P. Kasami
Came on at half-time but the change didn't offer much as he did what you'd expect by sitting deep and making simple passes. That's not his fault though.
- 77 J. Kurtič
Poked one effort wide at the near post after replacing the ineffective Hernandez, but offered little more than the Uruguayan.
