Full Time: Kazakhstan 1-2 Ireland. Despite the scoreline, Ireland were completely outplayed by Kazakhstan, who will be utterly aggrieved by the loss. Were it not for the injection of energy from Doyle and Long, Giovanni Trapattoni may well have been nursing his worst loss as Ireland manager. However, the result is what matters and Ireland pick up a crucial three points.

Half Time: Kazakstan 1-0 Ireland. Kazakhstan will be delighted with this scoreline, but in truth it could be more. Giovanni Trapattoni's Boys in Green have completely failed to cope with the fast-paced passing and look to be bereft of ideas, with the long ball, seemingly, their only tactic.

The corner is cleared and finds Whelan, but his shot is blocked.

Wow! Almost 2-0 to Kazakhstan. Ireland struggling hugely to contain Ostapenko and Nusserbayev. A great save from Westwood was parried into the path of Konysbayev, who crashed the ball into the post, but was ultimately offside.
