Milos Krasic scored three as Juventus won their first game of the season at the Stadio Olimpico. But Cagliari didn’t make it easy for them…
Juventus had the better of Cagliari in an entertaining game at the Stadio Olimpico and for the Old Lady it was the first Serie A home win of the season.
The Bianconeri found an early opener with Milos Krasic, Cagliari promptly equalized with Alessandro Matri but Krasic brought Juve ahead before half-time. Then the Bianconeri added two more with Leonardo Bonucci and Krasic again, but Cagliari also got a consolation goal.
Juve had a good start and soon found the opener. Simone Pepe took a free kick from the edge of the box which was headed out by Cagliari’s defence, but Krasic was waiting for the ball and his screamer gave Michael Agazzi no chance. It was a magnificent finish from the Serbian winger and a fundamental opener for the Old Lady.
Cagliari did not sit back though and were soon back on level terms. Andrea Lazzari’s cross from the left found Matri completely unmarked in the middle of the box – it was all too easy for him. As in the past game, Juve’s backline looked far from solid.
The Rossoblu looked very threatening, but Juve took the lead again. Perico lost control of the ball, Amauri passed it back to Pepe who crossed from the left: Krasic anticipated Alessandro Agostini and his tap in hit the back of the net after a slight deflection from Agazzi. It was poor defending from Cagliari.
Iaquinta could have made it 3-1 just before halftime as he knocked down Michele Canini, controlled a long ball and was one on one with Agazzi but his attempt lacked accuracy.
Juve looked determined at the restart and could have been awarded a penalty when Amauri was brought down in the box. The Bianconeri couldn’t complain as they found a lucky third goal from the following corner kick. Pepe’s corner bounced in the middle of the box and was deflected by several players before crossing the line. Iaquinta tried to get his name in the scoresheet with a desperate touch, but it was Bonucci who deflected the ball last.
Cagliari didn't look too downhearted and had a great opportunity following a brilliant pass from Lazzari - Matri’s attempt went wide though. However, It was game over though when Krasic scored his hat-trick following another corner kick. The Serbian controlled the ball, skipped past two and was lucky to find the net as his shot was deflected in by a defender.
Lazzari was on fire and didn’t want to give in. His inspirational pass was easily touched past Storari by Matri. Juve ended the game in ten men as Amauri picked up what appeared to be a serious injury. Still Cagliari were unable to find their third in what was a successful evening for the Old Lady and a disappointing one for the Sardinians.
