Diverted away an awkward free kick from Eder and commanded his area well with a few good punches. Didn't have a chance for the late equaliser.
Kept Pozzi at bay for the entire time the Sampdoria man was on the pitch. Didn't allow himself to be pulled out of position. A solid presence at the back.
Joined in attacks and was always available on the overlap to get crosses into the box, but didn't shirk his defensive duties either.
Made his long-awaited return from his Achilles injury. Still got up and down the wing to support the attack and defence, and eased back into his role seamlessly.
Made some excellent runs out of defence to take the pressure off his team-mates and looked confident on the ball.
Had some trouble tracking the runs of Gabbiadini as the 22-year-old continually made late runs into the box. However, was accomplished with the ball at his feet and his distribution from the back to the wings was good.
Lit up the San Siro in the first half with his quality and dribbling skill on the ball. Assisted Guarin's opener with some magical feet at the front post and had a few cracks on goal himself. Faded in second half.
Took a while to find his groove and his touch and took a few poor touches on the ball in dangerous positions in his own half, but grew into his role and began to affect the match, pull the strings, and run the game.
Provided excellent support to Palacio up top and was always a threat with his penetrating runs through the middle. Opened the scoring by ghosting in at the back post to fire a strike into the roof of the net. Began to lose the head as the game went on and earned a booking for a rash challenge on Soriano.
Made plenty of late runs into the box and was available as an extra attacker but didn't really make the most of the useful positions he got himself into. Replaced just after the hour mark by Kovacic.
Made a few promising bursts into the box in the first half without really looking particularly dangerous. Displayed plenty of industry in the final third and pulled defenders out of their positions, but didn't seek out any goalscoring chances.
Angelo Da Costa
Got a hand to Guarin's opening goal but it wasn't strong enough to keep the Colombian's shot from zipping into the roof of the net. Made amends slightly by denying another strike from him with a save to turn the ball on to the post.
Put in some good blocks on his own byeline and put his body in front of a couple of shots from the edge of the box, but was lucky not to give away a penalty as the ball looked to have struck him on the hand inside the box.
Got through the majority of the first half quite solidly but an innocuous, awkward block on a shot on goal resulted in his match being cut short with injury.
Was walking on egg shells for the majority of the match after picking up a booking for a scything challenge on Guarin. Attempted to take the ball out of defence with runs down the left only to lose possession on a few occasions.
L. De Silvestri
Struggled to deal with the movement of Palacio out to the left-hand side in the first half and regularly saw the Inter man get beyond him. Recovered as the game went on and didn't allow the Inter players as much room, and managed to join in some attacks.
A typically gritty performance from the Sampdoria captain. Hustled and harried the Inter midfield constantly as he hunted down possession, but was productive on the ball himself and clipped some dangerous crosses into the box from deep areas.
Started the match excellently and asserted his authority on the match by pulling the strings from deeper areas. Lost his way slightly as time progressed though as his passing started to suffer. Decision making also wasn't great.
Displayed some decent industry down the left-hand side and regularly helped out his full back with the oncoming runs of Jonathan. Did make some incisive runs into central positions but there wasn't a target to aim for in the box.
Was left pretty isolated in his lone striker role and did not have too much room to maneouvre under the attentions of three Inter central defenders. Displayed a good work rate but never really posed a danger to the back line of the hosts.
Will still be getting himself out of a twist after being left for dead by Alvarez for Inter's opening goal. Earned a booking for a horribly late challenge on Palacio but did give Handanovic something to think about early on with a half volley from the edge of the box.
One of Sampdoria's better players on the day and looked the most likely to make something happen. Tested Handanovic with a rasper of a free kick and made the ball stick to his feet in the final third.
