And it's all over! In what was surely a contender for game of the season, Inter have picked apart Milan 4-2 and ended Allegri's Scudetto hopes! Gorgeous goals, controversial decisions, and immensely entertaining play has ensured that this derby will not soon be forgotten. I'm Julian De Martinis and I'd like to thank you for joining me here for this live update!
90' + 2'
Well that was rather anti-climatic, with Nagatomo taking the corner short and promptly dribbling out of bounds. Milan throw-in, lose possession, and Cambiasso shoots off target as Juventus begin their Scudetto celebrations!
90' + 1'
Three minutes added on now. Lucio takes a free-kick just outside the box which hits the wall and nearly drifts into the corner of the net! Corner to Inter.
Maicon and Julio Cesar hug in celebration of that simply superb strike, and Andrea Stramaccioni may or may not get the Inter job following this season, but what he's done to turn around this team has been remarkable. Inter a minute plus stoppages away from a derby double this season!
Yellow Card Maicon
Assist Javier Zanetti
SENSATIONAL STRIKE FROM MAICON! IT'S ALL BUT OVER FOR MILAN NOW! WHAT A STRIKE! Rampaging down the right, as he so often does, Maicon lashed out at goal from just outside the box from a Zanetti assist to send the ball reeling into the top left corner! 4-2 to Inter and what a fantastic, fantastic match this has been!
Nocerino loses the ball to Cambiasso and Boateng commits a foul trying to win it back. Five minutes plus extra time to go here and Juventus are expecting to celebrate their Scudetto victory!
Iván Ramiro Córdoba
Sneijder coming off for Ivan Cordoba, in a very touching moment. The Columbian has been at Inter for 13 seasons and this will be his final home game as he's announced he's leaving Inter at the end of the season.
Milan clear the corner and rush to counter, but Inter are able to force the ball back. Cassano tries to slip Boateng in but Samuel clears it.
Zanetti goes on a sensational run and wins Inter a corner, much to the delight of the home fans.
Appeals for a handball against Cambiasso now waved away by Rizzoli! There's going to be much discussion about the referee after the match tonight!
Penalty Goal Diego Milito
Milito steps up to take this one. HE COMPLETES HIS HATTRICK! 3-2 INTER! As cool a finish as possible from the striker, who smashes it into the roof of the net. Rizzoli will be even under more pressure for this however, as Nesta clearly didn't intentionally handle the ball.
Just before the penalty, Antonio Cassano came on for Sulley Muntari. Fantantonio will need to inspire Milan to two more goals or else the Scudetto chase is all over!
PENALTY TO INTER! HANDBALL! Nesta's elbow hit Pazzini's header across the box, and the assistant ref calls it. That's the third penalty this match!
Yellow Card Mark van Bommel
Stramaccioni makes another change, taking off Alvarez for Pazzini. Moments later Van Bommel is booked for leaving his foot in as Obi rushed to clear the ball from Inter's box.
Enormous pressure on Milan now- Marco Borriello has just scored a second for Juve, meaning that Antonio Conte's men have all but won their match. Unless Milan score soon the title will be all but Juve's!
Another solo effort from Sneijder, outside the box this time, but once again it fails to trouble Amelia. The player is visibly frustrated with himself for not doing better on these shots.
Obi takes down a high ball and plays it to Sneijder, who shoots on target but Amelia grabs it well. Inter not using enough guile up front to carve open genuine chances.
Abate gets the ball in the box, makes space for himself, and strikes it on target; Julio Cesar parries over the bar for a corner!
As the game heads into the final stretch, the teams are becoming more evenly matched in midfield, though Milan is doing better with forward possession when they have it.
Fantastic take down, turn, and volley by Robinho in the box but his effort blazes high over the bar! The Brazilian is clearly feeling on form tonight and he's playing with much confidence.
Slick passing by Milan ends as Muntari slices a shot from a very wide position. Antonio Cassano is warming up on the sidelines in one of the season's most impressive comeback stories!
Yepes clashes with Milito and no free-kick is called by Rizzoli, who's had a mixed game to say the least.
Alvarez's cross whips off Nesta and out for a corner. Sneijder plays it into the box and Amelia rushes out to parry. Inter regain control and Yepes this time cuts out Milito's cut-back for another corner.
Guarin off for Obi; though he walked off the pitch, Stramaccioni looks to take no chances and sends on the youngster. Fantastic cross in from Robinho and Yepes gets his head onto it, but Lucio's pressure sees him aim wide. Milan gaining control now.
Maicon's cross is blocked by Nesta, sparking a Milan counter. Robinho shoots on target, Julio Cesar parries, and the follow up effort is cut by Maicon. Guarin is down injured but gets up and looks ok.
Inter win two corners in a row as Lucio's shot is deflected, but Maicon's final effort goes well wide and Milan have a goal-kick.
Inter edging back into this now after a few minutes of Milan dominance. The ball is going out of play a lot but Nagatomo wins a corner after Abate's challenge. Inter again look to play this one short before crossing.
SOMEHOW THE BALL DOESN'T GO IN! Ibra heads the ball towards goal; it hits Muntari at point blank range and bounces agonizingly wide of the far post.
Yellow Card Ricardo Álvarez
Breathless, absolutely breathless. Robinho turns on the flair, cuts inside, and slides the ball to Ibra as he runs through the defence, but the effort goes just behind the striker! The players are angry about De Sciglio's challenge on Zanetti and they're all gathered in a circle, which Rizzoli does well to break up!
And Milan nearly get it as Abate gets into the box, cuts the ball across the face of goal, only to be cut out at the last second by Lucio! Corner to Milan!
Yellow Card Ignazio Abate
Penalty Goal Diego Milito
Milito steps up to take the penalty... FANTASTIC strike into the back of the net and it's 2-2 now!!! UNBELIEVABLE derby we have tonight! Game back on after another penalty!
Abate was booked for the challenge that led to the penalty, and Milan are roaring forward in hunt of another goal- which is still necessary given that Juventus are still ahead over Cagliari!
Sneijder, who's been nothing short of great so far tonight, wins a free kick. He plays it to Milito who gets dragged down by Abate and PENALTY TO INTER! Proper decision this time as Abate pulled down the Inter striker.
Samuel and Cambiasso go down during the ensuing corner and the referee waves away appeals for a penalty! It's incident after incident so far in this derby!
Nesta tries a looping pass to Abate but it fails to reach the youngster. Sneijder gets the rebound and from near the halfway line volleys towards goal that Amelia just manages to parry as it was dipping into the top left corner! That was simply sensational from him!!!!
The second half continuing much like the first; now there's smoke all over the field as the tifosi are getting quite rowdy and blasting off rockets.
Goal Zlatan Ibrahimovic
A SUPERB GOAL FROM IBRA! Off their first possession, Milan go ahead! The ball was dummied to Ibra near the box, who tipped it past Lucio, ran towards goal, and chipped it over Julio Cesar into the far post! A DREAM start for Milan! 2-1!
The second half is kicking off, with neither side having made a change. Allegri of course only has one substitution available; Inter have all three still.
45' + 3'
Yellow Card Esteban Cambiasso
45' + 3'
Yellow Card Antonio Nocerino
45' + 3'
And that's the half- and what a half it was! There was a bit of everything so far tonight- goals, controversy, injuries, and passion everywhere. Join us in 15 for what will surely be an unforgettable second half!
45' + 2'
Nocerino and Zanetti both booked now as the players are furiously arguing with each other. Now Milito and Nocerino are yelling at each other as Robinho is down injured- and it looks unlikely that this will end with all 22 players on the pitch!
Three minutes of injury time to be added now. Cambiasso takes down Ibra without catching the ball, giving Milan a free-kick in Inter's half. It'll be fascinating to see how Inter react now, with such a sucker-punch just before half-time.
Assist Kevin-Prince Boateng
Penalty Goal Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Ibra to take this one, and all the talk will be about how poor a decision this is. The Inter players are still arguing as Ibra steps up to shoot... HE SCORES! Milan are tied and their Scudetto hopes are somewhat reignited as the ball was slid perfectly into the bottom left corner, but that was never a penalty.
Yellow Card Julio César
PENALTY TO MILAN AND INTER ARE FURIOUS! Boateng slipped through the defence and was one-on-one with Julio Cesar. The goalie slid in and took the ball cleanly, catches Boateng after, but a penalty is called! That's certainly controversial to say the least! Cesar is booked as well.
The opportunity is wasted woefully, as Milan play it too far back and De Sciglio's cross goes directly out of bounds as he tries to keep it alive.
Some very promising plays from Milan now, with Robinho at the heart of it, juking his way into the box and letting Muntari release a shot, which is blocked. Two clearances later, Milan have a corner!
The home side are taking control of the midfield now, poking and prodding to try and find a way through a well-entrenched Milan side.
Things just look to be conspiring against Milan tonight. It will take massive improvement for them to get back into this.
Fantastic save from Julio Cesar! Ibrahimovic uses all of his cleverness to get on the end of a free-kick, flick the ball past the covering Nagatomo, and nearly hit it into the net, but the Inter goalie got down well to block it!
As if it couldn't get worse for Milan, hero Abbiati comes off with what looks like a leg injury and Marco Amelia is substituted on. That's two defensive substitutions in 35 minutes because of injury for Milan!
Hectic moments at Milan's right flank as Abate needs two chances to clear Sneijder's pass to Nagatomo. Van Bommel strides forward and shoots; the ball takes a wicked deflection off of Nagatomo's back leg but it doesn't fool Julio Cesar.
Milan have finally woken up and are now dictating the terms of the match. Inter's backline isn't having too much trouble dealing with their forays forward, however.
Ibrahimovic is caught offside while trying to get behind Lucio and on the end of Muntari's cross into the box.
A sliding challenge from Abate is enough to clear Nagatomo's low cross into the area. Corner to Inter, which is easily cleared.
Milito badly wants a foul to be called after he's taken down but the referee waves play on.
Maicon loops the ball over Boateng and clears it following a nodded pass from Ibrahimovic. So far there's been very little attacking flow from the visitors tonight- who need to start scoring as Juventus are up 1-0 over Cagliari at the moment!
Mattia De Sciglio
Sneijder wins a corner as his pass to Maicon is cut out by Yepes. It's played short then crossed it for Abbiati to easily gather. Meanwhile, Bonera is off for 19-year-old Mattia di Sciglio following an injury, forcing Allegri to use his first substitution.
INTER GOALLLLL! No.... ruled out for offside! Lucio had volleyed the ball into the net, parried from Abbiati after a Sneijder shot, but he's offside and the linesman calls it. Good call and Milan let out a sigh of relief.
Inter clearly playing with confidence and flair following the goal. Milan are trying to repel the tide- Yepes blocking a Milito shot outside the box, Abate clearing a Maicon pass- but tempers are starting to flair here as Robinho is arguing with the Inter bench!
Inter turning on the pressure now; Guarin tries to catch the top corner of the net and misses narrowly from a shot just outside the box.
Assist Walter Samuel
Goal Diego Milito
INTER GOOOOAAALLLL! An absolutely magnificent ball was played into the box by Sniejder from the free-kick. It found Samuel at the back post, who chested it to Milito, completely unmarked in front of the net. He poked it into the goal and Inter are now ahead! Shambolic defending from Milan to leave the striker alone!
Cambiasso wins the ball in midfield and sparks a counter. Bonera bundles into the very lively Sneijder, thus conceding a free kick to Inter about halfway into Milan's half.
What a miss from Ibrahimovic! Robinho played a superb cross into the box, catching the run of the Swede who charged past Nagatomo. From about 10 yards out, Ibra lashed it towards goal but it sailed over the bar!
Muntari plays a quick ball wide to Robinho, who cuts past Maicon and gets inside the box before Lucio dispossesses him.
Samuel charges out of his box to put in a great clearing header to prevent a through ball from reaching Ibrahimovic.
Very solid pressure from Milan, who are trying to peg Inter back in their own half. Samuel takes the ball from Alvarez with a clean tackle and Inter look to break quickly.
Ibrahimovic and Guarin both go for the ball, but the Inter player's high boot is judged dangerous. Free kick to Milan, who play it short and lose possession trying to break down Inter's left flank.
Guarin's caught offside as the Inter defence tries a very high ball over the top of everyone. Moments later, Milan do nearly the same and Julio Cesar is now standing over a goal-kick.
The first free kick of the game is awarded to the home side after Muntari's rough sliding challenge on Inter's number 10. He caught the ball in fairness to the midfielder but also caught Sniejder.
Inter lose the ball as Zanetti and Sneijder's quick exchange is intercepted by the Milan midfielder after the latter's cheeky but inaccurate backheel.
Sneijder, who's beginning to look like the brilliant force that helped Inter win the treble again in recent weeks, tries a chipped pass to Milito in the box. Abbiati collects.
Captains Zanetti and Abbiati shake hands following the coin toss and we have kick-off! Inter begin with the ball and Maicon loses it after a failed long range pass. Lots of activity down Inter's left flank in the opening moments as the home side try to contain Robinho.
Moments later, Milan's back-line is thrown in choas again as Sneijder nearly slices the ball into the goal from the left but just misses! Inter in full cruise control here- and Cambiasso is arguing his shot that was saved had gone over the line! It was certainly close but it appeared that Abbiati parried it out of the air just before it crossed the line.
Abate concedes another corner, heading Guarin's looping cross clear to prevent Milito from getting on the end of it. Inter once again play this one short and cross it in. Cambiasso gets on the end of it, volleys it on goal, but Abbiati comes on with a miracle save to keep it out!
Seems there's a slight delay in getting the match started at the San Siro following a tribute to Ivan Cordoba- but the players are now walking out of the tunnel.
Just moments away from kick-off now in what's sure to be a pivotal match in this Serie A season!
As for the visitors: Maximiliano Allegri has shuffled the front a bit from the Atalanta win, sending Antonio Cassano to the bench and starting Robinho in his place. Daniele Bonera and Mario Yepes will play at the back with Philippe Mexes on the bench. Milan (4-3-1-2): Abbiati; Abate, Nesta, Yepes, Bonera; Nocerino, Van Bommel, Muntari; Boateng; Ibrahimovic, Robinho. Subs: Amelia, Mexes, Gattuso, Aquilani, Maxi Lopez, De Sciglio, Cassano
In team news, captain Javier Zanetti returns for this massive fixture after missing the last three games via injury. Ricky Alvarez looks to continue his promising partnership with Wesley Sneijder and Diego Milito will be starting as a lone striker. Inter (4-3-2-1): Julio Cesar; Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Nagatomo; Guarin, Cambiasso, Zanetti; Sneijder, Alvarez; Milito. Subs: Castellazzi, Cordoba, Pazzini, Palombo, Obi, Ranocchia, Zarate
Milan meanwhile are coming off a third consecutive win following a 2-0 victory at home to Atalanta during the midweek fixtures. Just one point behind league leaders Juventus, a win here is an absolute must for the side to have any hopes of retaining their Scudetto trophy.
Andrea Stramaccioni's men are coming off their first defeat under the new coach, a 3-1 loss away to Parma. That condemned the side to no Champions' League football for next season, though a win here would keep them in contention for a Europa League position.
Welcome to Goal.com's live match coverage of the Milan derby! Always a massive affair in it's own right, tonight's match could be especially decisive in the title race should Inter defeat their crosstown rivals and Juventus win away to Cagliari!
