What a game. Inter sneak into the final four of the Coppa Italia, thanks to Andrea Ranocchia's 120th minute winner. They will face Roma or Fiorentina away in the semi-final first leg next Tuesday. I'll be back for Bordeaux v PSG on Sunday in Ligue 1, until then - good night!
120' + 1'
FULL-TIME:: INTER 3-2 BOLOGNA (AET)
Agilardi was absolutely nowhere. The blame lies with him. There are seconds left, but Inter have sealed a semi-final spot in the Coppa Italia, it seems!
GOAL! INTER 3-2 BOLOGNA! THEY'VE DONE IT! The Nerazzurri steal it at the final second. Fantastic delivery, and it's headed in by Ranocchia. Cue wild celebrations from the Inter fans!
Corner given away by Bologna. The cross in from Guarin is held off by Agilardi, but the ball takes a touch over a defender.
Poor. Corner from Diamanti sails over Gilardino's head, and out for a goal-kick. Just under two minutes to go in extra-time.
GABBIADINI Oh, he should've put that away. A fine pass from the midfield sees the substitute in space on the edge of the area. Into the side netting.
Inter going at full tilt, as they seek a late winner. Cassano skips past the defender Portanova, and his threatening ball in is cleared away by Sorensen.
GABBIADINI! Almost a second for the substitute. A delightful cross again catches out the Inter rearguard. It's bouncing, but the header from Gabbiadini is well saved by Handanovic. Very close!
Diamanti goes down under the challenge of Silvestre, but as soon as the referee waves play on, Bologna charge at the ball. Nice to see. Six minutes left until the dreaded shootout*. (* note if you're neutral, you'd want to see them!)
Zanetti still going, he's won a corner for his troubles. A cheeky cross from Pereira sees the Nerazzurri win another one, but it's cleared before a cross is well held by Agilardi.
Yellow CardMarco Motta
Marco Motta booked after clattering onto Pereira. He's taken many a hit tonight, and requires some attention after spitting some blood. Inter, momentarily down to ten.
JAVIER ZANETTI! How close can you get. He deserves the plaudits that come his way, given his age - but even now, in extra-time it's still surprising what this man can do. Il Capitano holds off three defenders to bring out a fantastic save from Agilardi, before toe-poking the rebound. It comes off the post, and out!
Diamanti tries an attempt, but his shot is scooped over Handanovic's bar. Not the urgency you would expect in this type of scenario from either side at the moment.
Riku Ahola comments: "This Jonathan is probably the worst player I have ever seen in inter team. One advice: Please sell him... at any price." - fair to say, that a few Inter fans will agree with you. Below-par tonight.
Pereira down, after being caught by Motta down the right wing. The left-sided midfielder is back up again, he should be OK. Meanwhile, Zanetti still seems to be going strong. The bionic man!
UNDERWAY in the SECOND HALF OF EXTRA-TIME: 15 minutes to find a winner, or it will be penalties. I mean, we've gone this far to see them, right?
HALF-TIME in EXTRA-TIME: INTER 2-2 BOLOGNA - don't go anywhere, second half is coming up.
Inter temporarily down to ten men as Cassano is treated on the sidelines, after pulling up with what seems to be a hamstring.
Lovely bit of play from Panagiotis Kone. He suprbly darts in behind Silvestre with a series of stepovers, easily beating his man before his prospective cross is charged behind for a corner.
Mudingayi floats in a pass towards Guarin down the right. The midfielder hesitates, but chooses to utilize the space afforded to him and powers past Morleo, who gets back well to block him.
Yellow CardGaby Mudingayi
Oh, Mudingayi is quite lucky to get away with just a yellow for that. Perez shows him the mark he left in the Uruguayan's leg. Play continues nonetheless.
Heroic defending from the Rossoblu. Morleo is forced to throw his body at a cross coming in from Guarin. Meanwhile, Mudingayi is in trouble here - a rash challenge on Perez.
Cassano plays it short on the overlap, before a fine cross in is pushed away by the vigilant Agilardi. Inter meanwhile, are forced to play it all the way to the back. Seven minutes to go until half-time in extra-time.
Yellow CardAndrea Ranocchia
Stramaccioni is fuming on the touchline, not sure what about. Temperature rising in this fixture, as Sorensen gives away a free-kick after fouling Palacio.
Ranocchia has given away a silly free-kick, 35 yards out. Diamanti to take, but it's blocked by Cambiasso. Morleo's rebound in is charged away, before Gabbiadini wins a corner off a defender.
Cambiasso reprimanded for tripping Marco Motta near the halfway line. Might be getting slightly late, but don't forget to keep posting your comments via Twitter or at the bottom of the page.
Cassano chips from the free-kick towards Cambiasso. Under pressure from Portanova, the midfielder heads over the bar.
Yellow CardManolo Gabbiadini
Mudingayi sets of a great counter after charging down a speculative cross. Guarin meanwhile does amazingly well to power past a couple of defenders bringing howls of excitement from the Nerazzurri faithful. Gabbiadini booked, and Inter have a free-kick
Powerful start to the extra period from Inter. Lovely one-two undertaken by Cambiasso with Cassano, before the Argentine skips past Pazienza and fires away from goal.
Extra-time KICKS OFF! A flustered and confused looking Massimo Moratti looks on. Inter get us started.
90' + 5'
Well, what a match we have on here. Just 10 minutes ago, it seemed to be a foregone conclusion as Inter led Bologna 2-0. Quick-fire goals from Diamanti and Gabbiadini have seen the match quickly turn, and we now have a period of extra-time.
90' + 5'
FULL-TIME: INTER 2-2 BOLOGNA - don't go anywhere. Extra-time to be played.
90' + 4'
Corner awarded to Bologna. Pazienza attempts another low shot from distance. Handanovic saw it late, and it's gone out for a goal-kick. Surely extra-time.
90' + 3'
PALACIO! What a break. End-to-end stuff here in Milan. Corner punched away from Handanovic, and the hosts are on the break. Guarin into Palacio, whose cross flicks off a defender and pushed over the top by Agilardi
90' + 2'
GABBIADINI! FANTASTIC SAVE BY HANDANOVIC! Very attentive that goalkeeper, and a fine shot from the substitute after being set up by Kone in acres of space. Corner.
90' + 1'
Into the first of FOUR ADDITIONAL MINUTES at the end of normal time at San Siro - extra-time beckoning.
RANOCCHIA! Audacious attempt at the overhead kick, but it's gone wide of the goal. Corner is headed on by Palacio before the defender's freak intervention. Would've been quite a story.
Fantastic intervention from Portanova. Palacio was signalling to Cassano to fire in a cross, but the defender has cut it out for a corner. Frantic final few minutes.
Stramaccioni is furious on the touchline, and he is waving away the players to continue finding the winner. Substitution - Gaby Mudingayi is on for the rather poor Jonathan.
KONE! NO IT'S JUST WIDE! All going off here at the San Siro. Cross from Gabbiadini finds Kone in the middle of the box, and his left footed shot just narrowly goes out, evening nutmegging Gilardino on the way.
GOAL! NO! - IT'S RULED OUT! Inter thought they'd nicked it after Cassano's free-kick was bundled over the line by Ranocchia. Free-kick given the other way, amid fury from the Inter fans.
All Bologna now, Gabbiadini advancing on the far side as the Rossoblu aim for a shock equaliser. Inter are reeling.
MORLEO! Oh, that was mind-numbingly close! Morleo's fantastic delivery is not picked up at all. Instead, it's helped on by Ranocchia and cannons off the post. Gilardino's about to trigger the rebound but Handanovic jumps to smother the ball. Almost 2-2!
Well, we certainly have a cup tie on here now. Bologna have woken from their malaise, and have a goal back. Can they do it? Little over nine minutes if they are....
Yellow CardÁ. Pereira
Bologna complaining about that goal, but referee Luca Banti waves away the claims instantly. Meanwhile, Diamanti wins a free-kick off Alvaro Pereira - who is booked. Very harsh booking there.
Yellow CardAlberto Gilardino
As it stands, it will be Inter who will face the winner of the Fiorentina or Roma quarter-final in the last four. Inter would be away for the first leg, which is to be played next Tuesday, 22nd January.
GILARDINO! That was the Rossoblu's chance. And it's gone. Great delivery from midfield as the attacker races onto the bobble of the ball, ghosting behind Juan Jesus, but his header is wayward, and out for a goal-kick.
How many chances are they going to spurn?! Inter, once more, should have a goal here. Nice pass from Cassano to Guarin just inside the area, but the midfielder hesitates, and is forced to play it out to Palacio. First-time curling shot is no problem for Agilardi.
Always amazed by how powerful Javier Zanetti is, even at the grand old age of 39. Breezes past his marker to produce a low threatening cross from the left. Can't exactly find a team-mate, though.
CASSANO! He's still working out there, but once more Agilardi gets the better of him. Great composure from Palacio to find his partner, but Cassano's effort flies wide.
It's Bologna's final change of the game. Panagiotis Kone comes on for Antonsson. Last roll of the dice for Pioli, can his side salvage it?
Inter win a free-kick after a foul soon after the corner. Played short from Cassano, and then all the way on the edge of the area to Pereira, the left-sided player slams the ball over the bar.
PEREIRA! What a stop by Agilardi. Again, it's a fantastic ball into the former Porto star. The acute angle works against him, but the goalkeeper does well to close him down and block it out for a corner.!
Palacio! Close, but Agilardi has the ball - even if it does take him two attempts. You would get the feeling that Inter should be aiming to get that second goal soon, to kill off the game and give them some breathing space.
26 minutes stoppage time left if Bologna are to cling onto their Coppa Italia dreams. They've not won the treasured trophy since 1974. Can they turn around against a comfortable Inter?
CASSANO! Should've been two there. Only after Gabbiadini's cross was picked off by Handanovic, Inter break. Cross from Jonathan is headed on by Palacio into the path of Cassano, but the striker just can't get a touch on it before the defender hauls it away.
Corner is drifted in for Bologna, it's headed away out to Pazienza on the edge of the area, who unleashes a first-time shot. Flew harmlessly over the bar.
No goal for Tommaso Rocchi this evening, he has been replaced in favour of Rodrigo Palacio.
Ranocchia limps off, after receiving some treatment. He got caught on his left ankle, but should be fine. Play continues, and it's Diamanti who weaves in and out before unleashing a superb shot which whizzes wide.
Jut not been Ranocchia's night. After getting clattered by a free-kick early on, he requires more attention after being caught by Diamanti. Meanwhile, Palacio is readying himself on the touchline.
Free-kick awarded against Juan, after seemingly appearing to get the better of Gabbiadini. Roars of disapproval from the Nerazzurri faithful.
Substitution from Bologna as they attempt to reverse this decline - Cristian Pasquato has gone off for Gabbiadini.
Corner played towards Motta whose shot towards goal is charged down by Jonathan, and ricochets all the way back onto Motta's hand. Free-kick given the other way.
Perez, Pasquato and Gilardino pass around the ball well between themselves in a fine triumvirate attacking model, which forces Juan Jesus to head the ball safely behind the goal.
Rocchi's getting closer to a goal, but once more he just can't work Agilardi. Low ball comes in from the right, he gets himself in front of Portanova but the finish goes over the bar.
Diamanti goes down after being challenged by Juan Jesus. Free-kick awarded to the Rossoblu.
It's Stefano Pioli's side who have come out in this second half the better, as they send in a low ball down the right through Diamanti. Morleo is reprimanded for a foul on Rocchi however.
INTER substitution: Esteban Cambiasso [on] Marco Benassi [off]. BOLOGNA substitution: Michele Pazienza [on] Tiberio Guarente [off]
UNDERWAY in the second half at the San Siro.
Andres Yanez comments: Once again! Guarin! One of the most underrated Inter players. - absolutely. Send me your messages below, or send them to Twitter @goal_intl.
The teams are coming out for the second half in Milan. There is a substitution to be made by Bologna. More of that in a second.
Half-time at San Siro. Inter take a big step towards the last four of the Coppa Italia, as they lead Bologna at the break thanks to a sumptuous goal from Fredy Guarin. The visitors dominated early on, but it was all Stramaccioni's side as the half wore on. Stay tuned for the second half in 15 minutes.
45' + 1'
HALF-TIME: Inter 1-0 Bologna (Guarin)
Morleo advances on his flank, setting up Diamanti, but the Italy international's shot is dragged wide. Last meaningful moment of the first half.
Into ONE ADDITIONAL MINUTE at the San Siro.
Trouble for the hosts. Pasquato's shot bounces up off the pitch, but Handanovic is equal to it. The Slovenian goalkeeper gets down well to block the shot to his left, conceding a corner in the process.
All Inter at the moment now. Cassano on the left tries to slip in Guarin, who is called offside. The Rossoblu are struggling at the back, with Guarin's influence telling.
GILARDINO! Bologna's best chance of the game, and it's been spurned! Better delivery from the right from Motta, and the header from Gilardino is brilliantly saved by Handanovic. He clawed that away low down, before smothering it at the second attempt.
Free-kick to Bologna. Benassi gives away free-kick in a dangerous area . It's taken by Diamanti, but it's clattered into the wall. Moments later, Rannocchia goes down injured.
Inter causing trouble in the Bologna half once more, they've been reinvigorated by that goal! Jonathan attempts to race down the right flank, but he too is denied by the offside flag.
PEREIRA! NO! It's offside! What a goal that would've been. The left-back races onto a peach of a pass from Guarin, beating three defenders, before he is pulled back by the assistant referee. Agony!
Evident already that Bologna have been rattled by that goal. Inter almost fire in a second, before the Rossoblu get their act together at the back. Stefano Pioli's men are reeling.
A really fantastic goal from the former Porto man there. While his goal celebration could be questioned, the power and composure of the finish could not. Inter take the first step to the Coppa semi-finals.
CASSANO! Superb shot. Fantastic pass from Benassi into Cassano on the edge of the area. The striker takes a touch before firing towards the top corner of Agilardi's goal. Dipping, it only flies once more - just wide.
The build-up play from stefano Pioli's side has been fantastic so far, with Pasquato and Gilardino constantly feeding Diamanti or Motta on the far side. Their delivery leaves a lot to be desired though, with another cross picked out easily.
Diego Perez denies a lofted ball meeting its destination in Tommaso Rocchi, as a brilliantly executed slide tackle on the ball is enough to divert the ball away. Bologna dominating, but only just.
PASQUATO! Fantastic chance, and it's a good save from Samir Handanovic! The Rossoblu broke well, and it's Diamanti who slips in a neat ball towards Pasquato, whose low shot, left-footed is well held by the goalkeeper.
Pereira's been quiet so far on the far side, as he fails to latch onto a pass from Benassi. Bologna are awarded a quickly taken free-kick, and they are on the counter here.
Midway through the first half, and it's still Inter 0-0 Bologna in the Coppa Italia quarter-final at San Siro. The winner will face Fiorentina or Roma in the semi-final first leg, away next Tuesday.
Corner to Bolonga. Pasquato to take, it's played short to Diamanti, but the inswinging delivery is powered away by Ranocchia. Calm and cool defending. But the Rossoblu are still on the ball, before a wayward pass from Pasquato blazes over the line for a goal-kick.
Sorensen will have a job on his hands tonight. Cassano races down the right wing again, with his dribbling and trickery too much for the defender. Low cross in just evades Rocchi unfortunately.
DIAMANTI! Lovely shot, with pace, and it's fired inches wide of Handanovic's right post. Great move from the Rossoblu, pinging the ball around with ease in the Inter half as Pasquato, Morleo and Diamanti in on the act. Diamanti with the unsuccessful shot though.
Bologna holding their own at the minute, and their rare forays up forward look rather promising. Another deft cross in from the right sees Juan Jesus having to be vigilant.
Yellow CardTiberio Guarente
SILVESTRE! Just wide. From Cassano's delivery, the Inter defender ghosts in behind the defender, and Benassi to powerfully head goalwards. It's narrowly wide of the post.
Free-kick to Inter. Handball committed about 30 yards from goal, as Guarin's progress in midfield is checked by Guarente, whose sliding tackle saw the ball touch his hand. Yellow card and a dangerous free-kick.
Morleo attempts to dribble past Javier Zanetti, but the Inter captain holds him off well. A quick break in towards Rocchi is monitored well by Portanova who snuffs out the chance.
Guarente charges through the midfield unopposed, and feeds the ball to Pasquato. The latter tees up a crisp ball on the right to Motta, but the delivery in is charged down, and out for a throw-in.
CASSANO! Poor. Inter should be ahead here. A defensive slip up from Sorensen sees Cassano in on goal, but after waiting to hold the ball, he gets the better of Portanova, before dragging his shot needlessly wide, with no power. Very tame.
Pasquato and Sorensen combine well to progress up the field for the Rossoblu, but a fine defensive header from Ranocchia denies the visitors. But they are on the break, however.
Cassano pleads for a free-kick after chasing a loose ball with Portanova, who blcoks him out of the way. Referee Luca Banti waves away the claim, and the former AC Milan star looks a bit frustrated at the call!
MOTTA! Great header, but won't test Handanovic in the Inter goal. A fine cross from Pasquato to pick out his advancing team-mate, but his header was far too distant to trouble the Slovenia international.
Moment in attack for Bologna as Gilardino gets in amongst the Inter defence. He attempts to lob the ball over Juan Jesus, who holds his ground well to deny the Rossoblu striker.
18-year-old Marco Benassi is handed his second start in a week after making his Serie A debut on Saturday, a 2-0 win over Pescara. The young midfielder, positioned next to Javier Zanetti - 22 years his senior, is likened to Claudio Marchisio.
Inter making progres down this right wing already, as Jonathan chases down Morleo. Sorensen is forced to head away, before play is halted after Benassi goes in hard on Diamanti.
Jonathan attempts to pick out Guarin ahead of him, but a loose touch sees the ball bobble all the way back to Agilardi.
Composed start from Bologna, but it's all too brief as Inter regain possession.. Silvestre and Jonathan comfortable ont he ball, as they settle into their rhythm.
KICK-OFF: Underway in Milan, rain falling ever so slightly inside the San Siro. There may not be many fans, but those who have attended are in full voice.
The teams are out, and all 22 players plus the match officials are wearing the commemorative shirts baring the face of former coach Weisz. Tonight''s referee is Luca Banti.
Looking at the live feed from the San Siro, the stadium looks pretty sparse. Almost no fans situated in the upper tier, with estimates about 20,000 here for this Coppa Italia quarter-final.
So, get involved - don't forget to send in your tweets or comment below. Can Inter book a place in the last four, or will Bologna replicate their 2012 win here? Kick-off in five.
BOLOGNA: Agliardi; Motta, Sorensen, Portanova, Morleo; Perez, Guarente, Motta; Diamanti, Pasquato; Gilardino
INTER: Handanovic ; Ranocchia, Silvestre, Juan, Jonathan, Zanetti, Benassi, Pereira, Guarin, Rocchi, Cassano
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
A few statistics for you to ponder ahead of tonight's game. Inter's last home match against Bologna ended in a 3-0 win for the Rossoblu. Stefano Pioli's side have beaten Varese, Livorno and cup holders Napoli to progress this far while Inter defeated Hellas Verona.
The winner of tonight's fixture will proceed to the semi-finals where they will face either Fiorentina or Roma. The first leg is to be played away next Tusday evening.
Stefano Pioli's men meanwhile travel to Milan with their hopes of a first Coppa triumph still existing. The club last won the cup in 1974, with their only other triumph coming in 1970. Inter in contrast have picked up seven titles along the way.
The Coppa Italia represents the best chance of silveware (realistically) for either side. With AC Milan and holders Napoli already out of the competition, Andrea Stramaccioni's men face a tricky Bologna outfit who prevailed at this stadium in February 2012.
First of all, let me introduce myself. I'm Mohammed Ali, and I'll be guiding you through today's events for the next two hours. Don't forget send your comments to the Goal.com matchcentre chatbox to your right. Predictions, opinions and all. I'll be waiting for them.
Good evening and welcome to Goal.com's LIVE! text commentary from the Coppa Italia. We're at the quarter-final stage and Inter welcome Bologna to the San Siro as they attempt to book a place in the last four. Confirmed team news on the way.
