That's it from us at Goal.com, we hope that you've enjoyed our LIVE coverage of Inter's 1-0 home defeat to Bologna, courtesy of a second half goal from Gilardino! I've been Simon Harrison, and I hope to see you again next time - be sure to share your post match thoughts with me on Twitter: @simonhfootball.
The result leaves Inter four points adrift of rivals Milan in third place, whereas Bologna rise into the top half of the table! The away players are celebrating as if they've won a trophy and their jubilation is shared by the travelling fans!
The set piece comes to nothing and the referee blows the final whistle! San Siro is uneasy, as the home side failed to really turn up tonight, and concede ground in the race for third place as a result. A bad week gets worse for Nerazzurri!
90' + 4'
Cassano floats a ball towards the back post, looking for Guarin, but Morleo manages to head the ball out for a corner! Last chance for Inter!
90' + 3'
OOOOH! Curci has denied Cambiasso in the last minute! The Argentine substitute heads towards goal, but the keeper beats it away!
90' + 2'
Pereira drives well down the left, beating two defenders, but his eventual cross doesn't find a blue and black shirt! Unfortunate, as his initial work was brilliant.
90' + 1'
There are four minutes of stoppage time, there's still opportunity for an equaliser! Ranocchia heads wide yet again, I think he's more dangerous in the opposition box than most of his teammates!
In the past ten minutes, it has been all Inter, but they can't seem to break Bologna down! It's all hands to the pump for the away side, as they clear chance after chance!
Ooh! Kovacic floats a ball into the Bologna area, looking for Palacio, but the Argentine can only attempt a glancing header which Curci saves with ease!
OOOH! RANOCCHIA! The centre half again finds himself challenging for the ball in the opposition penalty area, but nods the ball over the bar after rising well!
Gargano takes the free-kick after much deliberation, and fires the ball straight into the wall! Terrible set piece from the midfield, perhaps Cassano would have used the opportunity better!
Naldo is penalised for handball, allowing Inter a free-kick in a dangerous position on the edge of the area. Cassano looks interested in this...
Yellow Card Naldo
Ooooh! Ranocchia goes for the spectacular, and tries an acrobatic overhead kick! It flies over the bar though, with Curci looking shocked that a centre-back would try such an effort!
The away side are sitting very deep now, with all of their players in their own half. It's a case of shutting up shop and not taking any risks for Bologna now!
Ooh! Garics has just made a very useful clearance for the visitors! A great ball in by Guarin evades everyone, and with Cambiasso bearing down on him, the Bologna right back stomachs the ball away from danger! Curci is then forced into a save moments later!
Into the final ten minutes, and it's tough to see where Inter are going to get a goal from. Palacio has been quiet, whereas Cassano is drifting out wide as opposed to pushing through the centre. With all subs made, Strama might have to rearrange his current personnel to be more positive.
OOH! Carrizo with a decent save! Krhin has his head in his hands, as he saw his header pushed away by the debutant! Not a bad stop at all.
Bologna again put the ball out of play, as Gabbiadini is on the ground, following an off the ball incident with Pereira. The Inter full back is very, very lucky not to have been spotted by the referee, he clattered through the back of his marker, when he didn't even have the ball!
Cambiasso now sees an effort blocked! Guarin sprays the ball down the right flank to Cassano, who hangs a ball up at the back post. The Argentine substitute strikes it, but sees his shot deflected away from danger!
Pereira miscontrols the ball, before punching the turf in anger. If that doesn't display Inter's collective frustrations, then I don't know what will!
Perez is down in a heap on the floor, but the stretcher is waved away as the midfielder announces he is okay to continue. The home crowd are noticeably uneasy, this game really hasn't gone well for the hosts - so you can understand why!
Yellow Card Juan Jesus
Oooh! CASSANO! The maestro controls a long ball excellently, cutting inside Naldo brilliantly before unleashing a strike at goal! The Brazilian defender recovers well however, sticking out an ankle to deflect the ball wide!
OOOH! Guarin tests Curci! The Colombian drives down the right, ghosting past two defenders before firing a trademark hammerstrike at the Bologna goal. The keeper is equal to it though, beating it away at his near post!
Carrizo sprawls out on the turf well to claim a Gabbiadini cross with safe hands. The debutant hasn't played too badly at all, everything he's done has been efficient, whereas his opposite number is regularly flapping at crosses.
Palacio slips over in possession, losing the ball in the process to Garics. That's pretty much summed up his afternoon, he's not had any luck so far tonight.
Morleo makes a great sliding challenge to prevent Guarin from squaring the ball, and from the resulting corner Curci flaps at the delivery! Inter can't turn the ball home however, and the away side clear!
Diamanti breaks down the right for Bologna, finding Gabbiadini inside with a crisp pass. The forward takes a touch out of his feet, before ballooning the ball way over Carrizo's crossbar!
Ranocchia drives forward, finding Cassano with his pass. The substitute plays a first time pass in behind the Bologna defence, inviting Palacio to chase it, however Curci is quick off his line to smother.
The away side's midfield has been integral to the game so far. Taider and Perez have broken up play very well, whereas Kovacic and Gargano have failed to do the same for Inter.
Bologna break dangerously, and the ball is sprayed out wide to Gilardino, but the goalscorer can't quite catch up with the pass. The lead certainly isn't undeserved, the visitors have had a range of opportunities.
Inter go close, as Cassano sees a shot blocked for a corner, but Ranocchia can't climb above his marker to attack the ball. The central defender has had a forgettable evening thus far.
Initially that looked as though it could have been offside, but Gilardino was played onside by Zanetti.
Assist Diego Pérez
Goal Alberto Gilardino
GOOOOOAL! Gilardino scores for BOLOGNA! It's been coming, and the hosts have the lead! Carrizo is left helpless, as the number ten volleys home from a questionably offside position!
Stankovic is applauded off the field, as it looks like he might have picked up a knock. The youngster Kovacic takes to the field in his place, and might just add a little more impetus to the Inter midfield.
The second half has a bit more urgency to it, with both teams keen to break quickly. Carrizo is the busier of the two goalkeepers, but this match could still conceivably go either way.
Stankovic! The Bologna defence seems to part for the midfielder, inviting him to drive into the area, but he hesitates over taking a shot, and his eventual effort is charged down! That was the chance for Inter!
Carrizo makes his first save of the second half! It's a routine stop, as a Bologna header heads straight towards the Argentinian shot stopper. It might give him a bit more confidence though.
Guarin has pulled up after giving chase to a misplaced Schelotto pass, but it looks as though the Colombian is going to continue. Initially it looked like a strain, but the midfielder is moving a bit more freely now.
Oooh! Stankovic was almost presented with a great chance, after Juan Jesus pulled the ball back from the byline brilliantly! The Serbian was stretching, but couldn't quite get there! Moments later, an Inter cross is deflected onto the roof of Curci's net!
And we are back underway in the second half, Inter need to improve in this second 45 minutes if they want to keep pace with Milan!
Benassi has been substituted at the break, with Antonio Cassano taking to the field in his place. He could be the spark Inter need!
Inter have been devoid of attacking spark, with their two chances not testing Curci whatsoever. Carrizo on the other hand, has been under a great deal of pressure, as Bologna spurn chance after chance. The only positive for the hosts, is that they haven't conceded despite playing badly!
There it is, the half time whistle! Stramaccioni's side are whistled off the pitch by dissatisfied Nerazzurri fans, and rightfully so! Bologna have had more dangerous possession and better chances!
45' + 1'
A Diamanti freekick is the only occurrence worth mentioning in stoppage time at the end of the first half, with only a minute of the first half left to play.
Ranocchia almost gifts Bologna a chance at goal! The central defender lazily sidefoots the ball five yards wide of his intended target of Juan Jesus. He's made a few trademark mistakes so far in this match, thankfully for Inter, Bologna have been unable to capitalise on them.
It's almost half time, and Inter still haven't tested Curci. They certainly need to sort themselves out at half time, perhaps the introduction of Cassano for Benassi would help their cause. Inter press forward, but their momentum is lost, as Schelotto concedes a needless foul.
Bologna are pressing extremely high, they're closing down the home side very quickly, to force errors or frenzied clearances. It's working too, Inter have spent long periods of the game stuck in their own half.
Yellow Card Dejan Stankovic
Gabbiadini can't believe he's not just scored! A long ball from the away side is left by Ranocchia, who chooses not to meet it with his head, perhaps he received a call from Carrizo? The Bologna forward finds himself unmarked, with the ball falling to his feet, but he miscontrols terribly! That was a fantastic opportunity, and he knows it.
Zanetti makes a very, very important interception to deny Gabbiadini at the back post, as the veteran right-back heads the ball away from the onrushing Bologna striker at the back post!
Oh! Uncertainty from Curci, who mishandles Guarin's free-kick, but the Italian keeper is able to catch the ball at the second attempt. That's the only time that the away stopper has looked in trouble!
Palacio is not being given a second to himself, as he is marshalled about by the Bologna defence. Morleo was just penalised for tugging on the striker's shirt, as it seems the away side have labelled Palacio as the danger man. Guarin stands over the free-kick.
Zanetti, wearing a commemorative shirt for his appearances, bombs down the right flank, before being penalised for a push on Morleo. The Argentine veteran is not happy at all, it's been a frustrating half for the hosts.
There aren't really any positives for Inter so far, and Stramaccioni is looking quite worried already. Bologna deserve credit, but Inter haven't created anything at all going forward. Gargano has a shot at goal blocked, and the ball trickles through to Curci.
Ranocchia makes an important interception, heading away a Diamanti through ball which was meant for Gilardino. Inter then break, but lose the ball needlessly - the hosts are looking a little short of offensive ideas.
Diamanti whips a good ball in towards Gabbiadini, but the forward couldn't direct his header goalwards, and Schelotto picks up the pieces. The Bologna captain has been the star performer so far.
Palacio again chases a lost cause, as a ball intended for the lone striker runs out of play for a goal kick. The Argentine hasn't had an enjoyable start to this match. Sorensen has dealt with him quite well, and the service up to Palacio has been quite poor.
I know that I've already mentioned this, but Benassi and Schelotto have really had zero impact so far. It's as though Inter are playing with ten men, as Benassi has rarely been involved.
Another dangerous freekick delivery from Diamanti bounces through the corridor of uncertainty, but neither a home or away player can get their boot to it! It harmlessly skids off the turf and out for a goal kick.
Palacio bursts into the Bologna area, controlling the ball under pressure from Sorensen, but the diminutive Argentine slips as he shapes to shoot! Unlucky!
This definitely hasn't been a good start for Inter. Bologna might begin the regret their wastefulness in the opening ten minutes, as the hosts are growing slightly more into the game. Just a touch of brilliance from Palacio could turn the match on its head.
Schelotto and Benassi have really struggled to get in the game so far, Morleo and Garics have remained relatively untroubled. Inter are certainly lacking a creative spark, Guarin is capable of good distribution, but I can't help thinking that the hosts are crying out for Cassano.
Finally, after nearly 20 minutes, Inter have gotten their foot on the ball. The Bologna midfield are taking a bit of a breather. Palacio manages Inter's first attempt on target, with a looping header, but Curci catches the ball easily below his crossbar.
Yellow Card Manolo Gabbiadini
Sorensen is fine to continue, after landing heavily following a clash with Gargano. Benassi has been non-existent so far for the hosts, I don't think that he's touched the ball more than once! He's definitely the surprise inclusion in Strama's side this evening.
Sorensen has gone down in a heap, after clashing with Gargano. The Bologna midfield have battled well so far, with Guarin and company failing to enjoy any creative freedom. Whether the visitors can keep this pressing and battling up, however, is something else altogether. Bologna haven't done too well away from home this campaign.
Now Diamanti goes close! The Bologna skipper takes a long range shot, which skips off the turf and wide of the post. Carrizo looked worried again, he's having a bit of a nervy debut so far!
OH! GILARDINO! The Bologna number ten hits a sweet right-footed volley from just inside the Inter box, but it whistles just wide of Carrizo's right-hand post, with the Argentine fully stretched! Close, very close indeed!
A disappointing opening ten minutes for Stramacionni's men.. I'm sure the Inter manager would have hoped for his side to start well, in attempt to redeem themselves from their frail performance in Europe, but they're reeling already.
Inter are really struggling to get a grip of this game. Gargano almost gifts the away side another chance, slicing a clearance high into the air, but Christodoulopoulos can't quite get on the end of it! Palacio is already looking isolated.
Inter are yet to even enjoy some possession, they really need to settle down. Bologna look the more comfortable, with Diamanti doing plenty of early running. Palacio is looking dangerous for Inter, however.
Schelotto is fed through by Palacio, as the leggy winger bombs forward, but Curci is able to race out and collect the through ball. Inter really haven't started well, this could be Catania all over again.
Carrizo is certainly getting a baptism of fire in goal for the hosts, as he has been subject to three Bologna chances in the opening five minutes! The Argentine is yet to make a save, but he's been under unnecessary pressure from the whistle.
Oooooh! CLOSE FOR BOLOGNA! Inter look lost, as Gabbiadini hits the side netting from eight yards out! He really should have done better there, the home defence were caught half asleep!
Diamanti has already shown that he can be threatening for the away side, with some intricate dribbling and driving runs. Let it also be mentioned that the Italian midfielder has netted seven goals this campaign too.
Oooh! First chance goes to the visitors! Sorensen rises highest to meet a Diamanti free-kick, under no pressure, but loops his header over the bar from 5 yards out! Close!
And we're off, Inter are in their familiar blue and black, and Bologna are sporting a rather nice white away kit!
So, we're minutes from kick off now, with Cassano looking like the biggest absentee for the hosts. Inter line up in 4-3-2-1 formation, for those wondering.
The away side are in slightly better form than Inter, picking up three wins in their last five games, whereas Nerazzurri only have two in the same time period. Diamanti and Gilardino are the main threats for Bologna, with the latter having picked up ten goals already this season.
Bologna starting line-up: Curci, Antonsson, Garics, Morleo, Sorensen, Perez, Christodoulopoulos, Taider, Gilardino, Diamanti, Gabbiadini.
Inter starting line-up: Carrizo, Zanetti, Ranocchia, Juan, Pereira, Stankovic, Gargano, Guarin, Schelotto, Benassi, Palacio.
TEAM NEWS: Due to Handanovic's suspension, Carrizo will take his place between the Inter posts tonight, while Benassi gets a rare appearance for the Nerazzurri. There has been a shake-up from the side who were defeated in the Europa League, that's for sure.
I'm Simon Harrison, and I will be keeping you up to date with proceedings, as Inter look to keep up with rivals Milan with three points this evening. Be sure to tweet me your thoughts and predictions for the match, I can be found on Twitter here: @simonhfootball.
