The match comes to an end, and it's Bologna who must take all the plaudits for an excellent performance. Inter however now have lost three on the trot in Serie A and fall to seventh, with the post-match autopsy now ready to take place! Be sure to stay on Goal.com for more breaking reports, player ratings and news from the fallout of tonight's action. I'm Livio Caferoglu and I wish you all a very pleasant evening. Ciao and buonanotte!
90' + 2'
And that just sums up the game. Poli and Pazzini find themselves in the D, but neither is willing to take the chance by the scruff of the neck and test Gillet as the ball is hacked away!
Castaignos is the guilty party as he collects the ball from Sneijder, but rather than shooting at goal, he opts to pass to Pazzini, which ends up being cleared.
The crowd are now chanting the name of Jose Mourinho, seemingly in an attempt to bring the Special One back to San Siro! Inter look to have run out of steam as we go into the 90th minute of action.
Ranieri's position as Inter coach is surely looking untenable right now. The Nerazzurri are currently enduring their worst run of form in eight years, since Alberto Zaccheroni's half-season reign!
AND ITS TRE-ZERO!!!!!! Well, well, well... Inter fans are flooding out of the stadium in numbers as Acquafresca manages to beat every Inter defender in his vicinity, before working his way into the box and shooting the ball low and hard past Julio Cesar!
Assist Jean-François Gillet
Goal Robert Acquafresca
Lucio makes his customary run deep into his opponent's half, and sees a speculative drive soar into the stand.
Mudingayi is a warrior as he immediately puts an end to flirting from Inter in and around his team's box! Taider at the other end fires a shot from distance, but it goes high and wide.
Time for another comment, and this time from (seemingly) a Bianconeri supporter, as @No1_Juve_Fan has offered his opinion on what the final score will be: "I think this match will end 1-3."
AGAIN!!!! Raggi concedes a free kick for Sneijder, and the Dutchman's looped attempt finds the head of Lucio, but the Brazilian defender's header is straight at Gillet, despite the offside flag being raised!
Marco Di Vaio
Acquafresca comes on for the indomitable Marco Di Vaio, who has been nothing short of sensational! AND JUST AS I SAY THAT, Inter are desperately unlucky to see the through ball intended for Nagatomo deflected away by Garics!
The Brazilian has another bite of the cherry, this time with a driven cross from his flank, but Pazzini's connection with the ball is weak and his header whimpers off for a goal kick!
Inter just cannot create anything it seems, in terms of goalmouth opportunism. Maicon gallops forward and unleashes a strike across goal, but it flies wide of Gillet's net.
Castaignos loses the ball to Di Vaio from the throw, although the ball ends up with Sneijder who looks for the Hollywood pass, but his cross is easily gathered by Gillet.
Inter have the ball back in the form of a throw-in, as Kone replaces Ramirez to provide some more steel in Bologna's midfield.
Castaignos is now on for Faraoni, but it hasn't made the intended effect as Bologna now have the ball deep in Inter's half and are keeping possession well!
The crowd are fully pumped up and are trying to encourage their team into getting one back, and it seems to be working as the ball is being pinged about near Bologna's D frequently.
Sneijder stands behind a free kick on the edge of the box.. he curls the ball into the area.. AND RANOCCHIA'S HEADER FORCES GILLET INTO A FINE NEAR-POST SAVE!
I've lost count of the fouls Cambiasso has conceded in this match, as he brings down Ramirez once more, but his free kick attempt loops into the hands of Julio Cesar.
Ranocchia is applauded for his efforts to dispossess Di Vaio at the death! And straight after, Pazzini is ruled offside, as he heads the ball over the crossbar!
@hussaintanvir08 on Twitter agrees with Mohammed's view of the encounter! "It would be a blessing in disguise. #forzacalcio."
As we reach the hour mark, it remains 2-0 to Bologna, as Cambiasso's foul allows for a pause in play - and the introduction of Andrea Poli in the place of Forlan, who flatters to deceive again.
WELL I AM SPEECHLESS! Nagatomo does brilliantly to the work the ball down the channel and cut back to Forlan, who is in bundles of space in the box, but his first-time strike is too weak and Gillet goes down to make the save!
Inter are not giving up in their efforts to force an opening, but it's just not happening for them moment. Meanwhile Diamanti's work is done for the night, as Saphir Taider comes on as his replacement.
The story of Inter's match in a nutshell! Nagatomo twists and turns near the danger zone, but is felled. However, Sneijder opts to play the advantage and cuts the Bologna defence open with a slide-rule pass, but Pazzini doesn't read it!
If that wasn't the tightest of calls, then I don't know what is! Ramirez looks to have dinked an inch-perfect through ball into Di Vaio's path, beating Inter's high line with consummerate ease, but the linesman thinks otherwise!
OOOOHHH!! Superb attempt from Di Vaio, who out of nothing curls one towards the top corner of Julio Cesar's goal, but is deflected just wide for a corner.
Very disappointing! Sneijder works hard down the left flank and eventually lays the ball off to Faraoni, but his first touch is appaling as it bounces off his shin and ends up giving away a free kick!
Forlan hits an effort from some way out, and it's not far away from goal! Inter desperately need some sort of inspirational spark if they are to have any chance of a second-half revival.
Diamanti cannot believe his luck as he appeared to go down in the box courtesy of Ranocchia's boot, but the referee rejects his appeal!
The second half is now underway, with no changes being made by either team!
Meanwhile, @shashwatrff had expected an Inter win prior to the match: "With a string of bad results & milito out i think inter will struggle. I hope that after the match i can say sneijder's back. 2-1 to inter."
My fellow colleague and Goal.com French correspondent Mohammed Ali (catch him @mohammedali_93) has taken quite the stance on the match: "If Bologna can injure Sneijder and a fair few players, I will be most thankful." - I sense one is a Marseille fan!
OOOH!!! Faraoni is presented with a free shot at goal on the bounce, but his stinging effort goes wide of the goal! And on that note, its half-time in Milan, as Inter go into to a chorus of boos and whistles. Comments time!
45' + 1'
Another Sneijder set-piece flies over the cuckoo nest, as not even a Maicon long throw can undo the Bologna rearguard!
45' + 1'
No is the answer, as it is headed away, but Nagatomo wins a second corner! Two minutes of added time at San Siro.
Last minute of the half here, as Sneijder is felled by Mudingayi, giving away a free kick, and a corner in the process. Can Inter pull one back from a set-piece?
Ranocchia is having an absolute stinker of a half as he clumsily trips up Raggi near his own area. Free kick to Bologna once more... but Diamanti's strike flies haplessly over!
Inter are trying their hardest to break down Bologna, as Pazzini looks to link up with Maicon on the edge of the Bologna box, but the Italian's pass is deflected away. What can Ranieri muster in the second half? He will be devastated, considering his side were well in control of the encounter.
Yellow Card Wesley Sneijder
Tensions are mounting in Milan now, fresh from Di Vaio's quick-fire double as Sneijder hauls down Diamanti in the middle of the park, arguably out of frustration.
Goal Marco Di Vaio
INCREDIBILE!!!! It's 2-0 now as a raking long ball is awfully misjudged by Ranocchia, who chests the ball into the path of Di Vaio, and the veteran hitman makes no mistake from close range! Unbelievable stuff here in northern Italy.
Assist Diego Pérez
Goal Marco Di Vaio
GOLACCIOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Lucio makes a horrible mistake to allow Ramirez into the box from the left side, and the ball ends up at the feet of Di Vaio in barrels of space, and finishes coolly past Julio Cesar! Bologna 1-0 up, arguably against the run of play!!
Free kick to Bologna here, as Cambiasso again pulls down Diamanti, who has been a prominent figure in the match so far! Inter regain possession and cause the visitors a slight problem as Pazzini puts a ball into the box, forcing Gillet off his line!
A speculative effort from Faraoni here, as the fit-again winger powers a long-range attempt at goal, but it's well wide of the target!
Yellow Card Alessandro Diamanti
Non-stop action here at San Siro, as Diamanti is shown the first yellow card of the game for appearing to clatter into Lucio near the touchline!
ANCORAAA!! Forlan runs Portanova ragged as he drives into the box, but Gillet does brilliantly to stretch his legs out and block out the forward's strike!
BEST CHANCE!! Morleo loses Maicon once more, as he whips a tantalising cross into the box, but Sneijder's header whistles just wide of the post!
Diamanti's shot is easily saved by Julio Cesar, but nevertheless testing as it hits the target! Meanwhile Faraoni rampages forward, but Di Vaio charges back to put the ball out for a corner!
Cambiasso needs to be extremely careful, as he gives away another foul, this time on fellow South American, Ramirez! Free kick to Bologna in a dangerous position on the right.
A couple of moves from either side break down, with Faraoni and Ramirez the guilty parties respectively!
More promising play from the hosts, as Maicon launches a ball for Pazzini, who looks to latch onto the Brazilians' pass, but it is a tad too strong!
AHH! Very close call from the linesman, as Pazzini attempts to slip Forlan through near the corner flag, in which he does, but the Uruguayan makes his run too early!
Inter are starting to become overly enthusiastic, as Diamanti is on the receiving end of a strong Cambiasso tackle! Lucio eventually shepherds the free kick away, however.
Sneijder goes in hard on the back of Mudingayi and concedes a free kick to Bologna. Meanwhile, I have some great tweets from you guys, they'll be coming up imminently!
Pazzini is frustrated as he participates in a 50-50 with Gillet, but although he seems to have fairly gone for the ball, the Belgian goalkeeper falls down with his glove to his face!
OOH! Inter win a free kick around 30 yards from goal as Perez takes down Pazzini, but Maicon's header is expertly tipped over by Gillet. Great instinctive save!
The visitors are starting to creep back into the encounter, as Ramirez and Raggi team up on the edge of the box, but just as the Uruguayan is about to pull the trigger, Cambiasso slides in!
Yet again, Morleo is forced to avert danger from the threat of Maicon near the box!
Nagatomo tries to force an attack near the touchline, but his efforts prove futile. However, the ball suddenly ends up with Sneijder on the edge of the box, and forces Gillet into a save. Inter are beginning to crank up the pressure!
A potential duel between Maicon and Morleo could be on the cards, as again the Gialloblu full-back manages to put a tackle into the Brazilian star. Meanwhile, Faraoni is down on the floor again, and his night may have come to a premature end with a knee injury.
That's more like it! Inter string together a number of crisp passes as they advance into Bologna's danger zone, but Portanova is forced to intercept a cross and head the ball into the arms of Gillet.
Bologna retain the ball once more, as this time it's Di Vaio who breathes down the Inter box, but he is eventually dispossessed.
Bologna seek to put Diamanti in behind the Nerazzurri defence, but the linesman chalks off Morleo's through ball as offside.
Faraoni goes down and looks hurt after a clash with Perez but he gets back up valiantly as Bologna return the ball to Inter.
The match is underway, with Inter going from right-to-left and Bologna vice-versa! The hosts are currently in possession of the ball, and try to play Nagatomo through down the left flank, but it's a throw to the away team.
The players are now on the pitch, ready to do their customary handshake between one another! As always, you can follow the match with me on Twitter @livmc - any input is much appreciated and WILL be posted!
Not the biggest crowd was anticipated tonight, and unsurprisingly a fair few empty seats can be seen at the venue. A shame considering the fixture has the makings of an above-average contest! Nevertheless, we're minutes away from kick off.
A positive impact will be a welcome boost to the Nerazzurri who, after a marvellous run of eight straight victories, have begun to collapse in recent weeks, falling further behind their rivals at the Serie A summit. Bologna, however, need the points in their quest for salvation in the top-flight.
And so the biggest news sees Diego Forlan named in the starting lineup at the expense of Diego Milito! Will the Uruguayan hitman finally show his worth at San Siro? Hopefully tonight will give us a fair idea of what he will bring to Claudio Ranieri's men.
And last but not least, Bologna: Gillet; Raggi, Portanova, Antonsson; Garics, Perez, Mudingayi, Morleo; Ramirez, Diamanti; Di Vaio.
Firstly, here's how Inter will line up: Julio Cesar; Maicon, Lucio, Ranocchia, Nagatomo; Zanetti, Cambiasso; Faraoni, Sneijder, Forlan; Pazzini.
