AND IT IS OVER! The Netherlands hammered Hungary at the Puskas Ferenc stadium in Budapest with four unanswered goals. Rafael Van der Vaart and Ibrahim Afellay were on target for the Oranje and Dirk Kuyt and Robin Van Persie scored after the break to put the icing on the cake. Hungary will have to improve if they are to qualify for Euro 2012 from Group E. It is good night from me, Vasil Kotsev! Join us tomorrow for our live coverage of the most interesting qualifiers for Euro 2012. Bye, for now!
90' + 1'
Rudolf turns well with the ball on the right, just outside the box, before sending a nice finish for the near post, which Vorm manages to smother. The game is stopped for a minute as a man invades the pitch and is later shown some "hard" tackling as he is brough to the ground and led off the pitch.
Good save by Vorm who confidently claims a finish from the right side of the box by Dzsudzsak.
Over the bar from the PSV star, who has amassed fourteen goals and fifteen assists in the Eredivisie this season.
Rudolf wins a free-kick a from Pieters. Excellent opportunity for Dzsudzsak to test his set-piece ability.
Not much happening on the pitch now as the two teams seem to be playing the game out, waiting for the referee to blow his whistle for the end of the match.
Double change for the Netherlands, too, as Ruud Van Nistelrooy replaces Dirk Kuyt and Rafael Van der Vaart made way for Kevin Strootman.
Rafael van der Vaart
Ruud Van Nistelrooy
Sandor Egervari rolls the dice for the last time ... Just a minute ago Elek made way for Priskin.
The tempo has dropped in the recent minutes as Hungary are trying to mount a late raid to get at least one goal back.
Hungary have had just two shots on target so far, while the Netherlands have scored four goal from seven shots on goal!
The question now is can Hungary get a consolation goal here ... The answer does not seem too positive to say the least as the Netherlands are enjoying themselves on the pitch and look in full control of the game.
Deafening boos from the Ferenc Puskas Stadion in Budapest. The home teams are not taking this result lightly.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy is warming up on the sidelines. Is the ex-Real Madrid man going to end up on the score-sheet?
Elia seems to have picked up a knock after being brought down by Liptak, who received a yellow card for this foul. Not encouraging for the Hamburg winger as he was eager to impress.
Yellow Card Zoltán Lipták
SNEIJDER HITS THE BAR! Wonderful lob from the Inter man as his finish loops over Kiraly and lands on the bar! Kuyt sees his header from the rebound saved by the ex-West Ham goalkeeper.
This could yet turn into a rout if The Netherlands continue to play so well.
Elia replaces Afellay. The ex-PSV man had a difficult start to the game, but really rose to the occasion with a goal and some mazy runs to his account.
Assist Gregory van der Wiel
Goal Robin van Persie
GOAL! Van Persie makes it four! Little piece of magic from Kuyt as he releases Van Der Wiel on the right, who in turn advances on the right side of the box, before squaring for Van Persie, who confidently slots in with Kiraly beaten.
Yellow Card Vilmos Vanczak
Yet another yellow card for Hungary and it goes to Vanczak for a foul on Afellay. Good Afellay does not usually have problems with injuries.
Yellow Card Ákos Elek
Akos Elek is booked for a challenge on, you guessed right, Afellay in the centre of the pitch. The Hungarian midfield enforcer has had a sub-par game so far.
Afellay is brought down yet again in the centre of the pitch. The ex-PSV man has attracted a lot of fouls so far.
Very unselfish from Van Persie, who squared for the open Dirk Kuyt instead of going for goal himself.
Assist Robin van Persie
Goal Dirk Kuyt
GOAL! The game is surely settled now! Dirk Kuyt makes it three! The Liverpool striker is released in the centre of the box by Van Persie, following a fast break, and slots into the net with Kiraly beaten.
Vadocz sends a disappointing cross with the outside of the boot from the right which lands in Vorm's hands.
Gera sends a looping shot which Vorm stretches at full length to deal with. First chance for Hungary since the beginning of the second half.
Van Persie twice involved as he first sees a finish from the right side of the box blocked and shortly after releases Van Der Wiel in the same shooting position, but the Ajax man also fails to put the ball past Kiraly.
There were two substitutions at half-time with Czvitkovics replacing Koman and Krisztian Vadocz replacing Jozsef Varga.
Rudolf and Dzsudzsak tried to make things work for Hungary, but the PSV man sees his pass blocked by John Heitinga and cleared by Joris Mathijsen.
The second half begins ...
45' + 2'
The first half is over and the Netherlands are two up at half-time. It has been a stroll in the park for the clinically efficient Dutchmen who have taken all, but one of their clear chances. Hungary will have to pull off something miraculous if they are to take anything from this game. Join us after the break for the second half of this exciting qualifier from Group E.
Goal Ibrahim Afellay
Assist Gregory van der Wiel
GOAL! The Netherlands double their lead! Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay with the strike! Wesley Sneijder managed to release Gregory Van Der Wiel on the right, who in turn squared for Ibrahim Afellay, who controlled well before firing in a superb volley from the left side of the box.
Koman lunges on Afellay shortly after the corner on the left and correctly receives a booking from Carlos Velasco Carballo.
Yellow Card V. Koman
Mathijsen with a panic clearance ahead of Zoltan Gera as Hungary are looking to get back into the game before the break. Van Der Wiel concedes a corner on the left for the Netherlands.
Possession statistics: Hungary - 34%, The Netherlands - 66%. Not surprising at all.
Dirk Kuyt manages to controll a long ball on the right wing and instead of squaring for Robin Van Persie decides to go for goal, but his finish causes no worries to Hungary's defensive unit.
Sneijder is furious with Elek as the midfielder brings down the Inter playmaker with a scything challenge in the centre of the pitch.
The Netherlands have lost the ball way too many times early in the build-up to their attacks as the passing of their midfielders is letting the team down.
GERA! The Fulham midfielder received the ball on the edge of the box and tried to find Gergely Rudolf just outside the six-yard box, but his cross was overhit and went out for a goalkick.
Afellay! Poor indeed! Van Persie released Afellay on the left side of the box after a fast break, but the Barcelona midfielder sent a weak finish, which Kiraly blocked with ease.
Very good by Dzsudzsak as he dribbles past Van Der Wiel and Van der Vaart with ease on the left wing only to see his shot from the left side of the box saved by Vorm.
Hungary's defence make a mess out of a simple free-kick by Sneijder, but manage to deal with the danger in the end.
Van Persie falls in the box under pressure from Liptak and after a wonderful one-two with Dirk Kuyt. No valid claims for a penalty here as the ex-Feyenoord man just lost his balance.
Van Persie in particular seems isolated upfront and has also made himself no favours with his play on the ball so far.
The Netherlands with the lion's share of possession, but yet to threaten Kiraly seriously after Rafael Van der Vaart's opener.
Vanczak brings down Afellay with another tackle from behind in the centre of the pitch. The game has become a little scrappy in the last ten minutes...
Yellow Card Robin van Persie
Van Persie is booked for slap in the face on Varga as he was trying to shield the ball from the Debrecen midfielder.
Wonderful step-over from Barcelona bench boy Ibrahim Afellay as he skips past Vanczak, but sends an uncharacteristically poor pass right to Hungary's defence.
Gera brings down Rafael Van der Vaart with a crunching tackle from behind and is lucky to escape a booking.
The visitors scored from their first opportunity and this will likely discourage the Hungarians who started the the game with much motivation.
Moments before the goal Gergely Rudolf had a great run and a fine finish saved by Vorm. The Bari striker showed great technique as he managed to dribble his way past Mathijsen and Pieters.
Assist Wesley Sneijder
Goal Rafael van der Vaart
GOAL! Van der Vaart opens the scoring! The Tottenham midfielder was picked out by Wesley Sneijder inside the box and finished low past Kiraly to give the Netherlands the lead.
Van der Vaart is released by Afellay with twenty-yard defence splitting pass, but his low cross from the right side of the box is intercepted and cleared.
The visitors are passing the ball around comfortably, looking for space to exploit...
Dzsudzsak almost powers his way through the Netherlands' defence and tries to pressure Vorm, but the goalkeeper confidently flicks the ball past the PSV star.
The first half begins ...
The Netherlands: Vorm; Van Der Wiel, Heitinga, Mathijsen, Pieters; Afllay, Van der Vaart, Snjeider, De Jong, Kuyt, Van Persie.
Hungary: Kiraly; Vermes, Liptak, Juhasz, Vanczak; Elek, Varga; Dzsudzsak, Koman, Gera; Rudolf.
