D. Ya Konan 35', 76'
G. Niedermeier 74'
Shots on Target
FULL TIME! Hannover could have scored four of five goals in the last ten minutes, but will be satisfied enough with a 2-1 win. Stuttgart were truly woeful in defence, and were twice punished for failing to keep a level back line. Full credit to Ya Konan for two well-taken goals, although he should have had at least a couple more.
90' + 1'
What a comedy of errors! Ya Konan and Rausch have a clear chance, but take far too long and Ulreich easily collects! If Stuttgart draw level, Hannover have nobody to blame but themselves.
Yellow CardMartin Harnik
And again, Hannover break. Ya Konan has Rausch streaking towards the box, but selfishly goes for goal on his own, and his tame shot is saved.
Ooh, dangerous cross from Harnik on the right, and all that is needed is a tap-in. Niedermeier is just a step behind at the far post.
Substitution for Hannover: veteran midfield anchor Altin Lala replaces Pinto.
Sergio da Silva Pinto
And now Hannover break - Hanke is set up at the edge of the penalty area, but Delpierre makes a good block.
Stuttgart playing with a bit more urgency now, but Hannover have 10 men behind the ball and the visitors still lack a bit of quality.
AUDEL! Oh, wide! Boka's cross is slightly behind the substitute, who does well to get his head over the ball. However, he can't quite redirect it on target and misses wide of the left post.
Schulz goes down - he looks as though he's been struggling with an ankle injury for some time, and took a further knock a moment ago. He eventually gets back on his feet.
Schlaudraff is now replaced by serial goal-scorer Mike Hanke, who has netted as a substitute in each of his last three games.
A late and final replacement for Stuttgart: Zdravko Kuzmanovic replaces Degen, who has been quite poor. The Serbian moves into midfield, and Traesch takes over at right back.
Heartbreak for Stuttgart, who again fail to keep a proper defensive line. Boka plays Ya Konan onside, and the Ivorian races towards goal. He has a man in the centre, but takes on Ulreich himself, and makes no mistake in slotting in the go-ahead goal.
GoalDidier Ya Konan
TOOOOOOR YA KONAN! AND HANNOVER TAKE THE LEAD ONCE MORE!
My oh my. Gebhart whips in a free kick and Niedermeier heads in the equaliser off the back of his head. Fromlowitz was caught in no-man's land! GAME ON!
TOOOOOOOOR NIEDERMEIER! What a mistake by Fromlowitz!
Yellow CardSergio da Silva Pinto
Ouch, that's a hard tackle by Pinto, who goes into the book. Free kick to Stuttgart from distance...
Yellow CardPhilipp Degen
Schlaudraff takes the free kick, but sends it over the bar. It was a really difficult shot.
Ah, but here's another chance for Hannover - Schlaudraff jinks towards the penalty area and is felled by Degen, who earns a booking. Free kick for Hannover at the edge of the box.
Ya Konan looks to be free from Delpierre and goes down...but no penalty is awarded! The defender was struggling for pace, but used his strength and was given the benefit of the doubt after Ya Konan went to ground.
Better from Stuttgart - Audel crosses for Pogrebnyak, who has his back to goal. The striker then sets up Harnik, but Pinto blocks the winger's effort on goal.
Substitution now for Stuttgart - new signing Johan Audel makes his third appearance as a substitute, replacing Gentner. Stuttgart now have two strikers and three attacking midfielders on the pitch...
CHANCE FOR STUTGART!!! But wide! Excellent transition play by the hosts; Cacau sets up Harnik, but the winger misses narrowly wide from close range. That was so nearly the equaliser!
Chahed has a go from distance and Ulreich dives to concede a corner. The ball was never going into the net, but the goalkeeper must not have been sure of his position.
And instead of a yellow card for a dive (or penalty-yielding foul), Manuel Graefe books Ya Konan for blocking Ulreich as the goalkeeper looked to play the ball upfield.
Yellow CardDidier Ya Konan
PINTO...SURELY A PENALTY, BUT NO! Traesch is taken out with a crunching tackle, and Hannover have a chance in transition. Pinto's first touch is a bit heavy, and the midfielder falls over alleging contact with Niedermeier. However, no penalty is given, and neither is a yellow card for diving! Curious decision.
Ooh, nice cross by Christian Schulz, but his ball is just a bit too high and goes out of play.
Gebhart concedes a free kick to Schmiedebach just outside the right corner of the penalty area...
Very good work by Cacau, who explodes into the left side of the penalty area but loses his balance as he shoots. Goal kick for Hannover.
Here's an example: the Russian heads a long pass down towards Harnik, who then misses by a fair margin.
The game returns to rather pedestrian pace once more. Pogrebnyak has added a new dynamic to the visitors' attack, however - he may yet prove useful.
Yellow CardMatthieu Delpierre
Delpierre is late again, and this time earns a yellow card for a foul on Schlaudraff.
Ouch, what a brutal tackle by Delpierre! The centre half catches Stindl on the ankle and is fortunate not to be booked. Stindl is howling in pain, but eventually gets to his feet.
Oh, brilliant work by Gebhart on the left; the winger beats two defenders before finally Eggimann clears out for a throw. Boka sends in a cross after play resumes, but Pogrebnyak heads wide.
PLAY RESUMES ONCE MORE! Ya Konan kicks off and Hannover have a go corward before Stindl concedes a free kick.
Here's a half-time replacement for Stuttgart - Pavel Pogrebnyak replaces Elson to add a bit more firepower up front.
Will Stuttgart equalise, or will Hannover extend their hot streak? We'll find out in the second half - I'll be back in 15 minutes to keep you up-to-date.
HALF TIME! It hasn't been a very exciting match, but Hannover have done just enough to earn the lead. Ya Konan was clinical with a rare opportunity on goal, and thanks to Schmiedebach's heroics, Cacau was unable to equalise.
Rausch tries an ambitious header from the edge of the box, and as could be predicted, Ulreich is untroubled. Moments left now before half-time...
Schlaudraff tries to thread a through ball to Ya Konan, buNiedemeier makes a timely intervention.
Schlaudraff does well to free himself from Degen and tiptoe up the left byline before picking out Rausch, whose shot is deflected out for a corner.
CACAU! WHAT A SAVE! From a corner, Gentner nods towards the Germany international at the far post. His shot is well taken, but Schmiedebach makes an incredible block to preserve the lead!
Delpierre is caught napping and plays Schmiedebach onside lThe midfielder is picked out with a cross which he takes rather poorly. However, he manages to deflect the ball into Ya Konan's path before the Ivorian fires between Ulreich's legs and into the net. 1-0 to Hannover!
GoalDidier Ya Konan
TOOOOOOOOR! YA KONAN MAKES IT 1-0!
Elson receives the ball in rather fortuitous circumstances as the edge of the box. Free from defenders, he still manages to miss the target by a comfortable distance.
POGATETZ! WHAT A CHANCE! From the corner, the centre half rises for a free header, but misses wide of the right post!
Schmiedebach! Well, again Ulreich dives when there is little need to do so. The shot is well off target, but Hannover win a corner after the ball took a slight deflection.
Elson has a go from distance, but his effort is rising as it clears the bar.
STINDL! THAT is better! Schlaudraff superbly keeps the ball in play at the right touchline, and is free from Boka. This time, he passes to Ya Konan, who tees up Stindl...but Ulreich is quick to the ground to knock away the resulting shot.
Again, a wasted chance - Schlaudraff is behind the last defender, but he fires a poor effort towards goal when he would have done better to feed Ya Konan.
There are just too many errors being made at the moment. A minute ago, Gentner completely miscued a strike from the top of the box. Since then, there really has been little from either side along the lines of attack. Little urgency, and less competence.
Here's a substitution for Hannover - Sofian Chahed replaces the captain Cherundolo, who apparently took a knock at some point.
YA KONAAAANNN SAVED! Brilliant work from the Ivorian, who wins the ball in his attacking half, then dances past a pair of defenders to create space. Ulreich spills his shot, but pounces on it ahead of Schlaudraff.
Nice work there from Degen and Gebhart; the fullback races forward and slips in a through ball to the latter, whose cross is deflected out for a goal kick. Good defending.
Here's a decent chance for the hosts; Schlaudraff breaks forward on the right and his pass is behind its intended target. However, it finds Rausch, who had made a trailing run; the winger jinks to his right, but his curling effort flies straight into Ulreich's arms.
Still not much fluency from either side thus far; we continue to wait for a good chance on goal.
Rausch slices well off target from the edge of the penalty area, but Ulreich takes a dramatic dive towards the top corner nonetheless.
Cherundolo commits a poor foul on Gebhart to concede a free kick on the left side, but the set piece is wasted.
Cacau chases after a cross that Fromlowitz catches easily, and the striker runs into the goalkeeper to concede a free kick.
Degen chases down a long ball near the right byline and Schulz makes a great tackle, but concedes a corner in the process.
Nervy moment for Ulreich; Pinto curls in a free kick and Ulreich is off his line (and nowhere near the ball), but he is adjudged to have been impeded by Pogatetz. Free kick to Stuttgart.
That was a nice ball from Cherundolo towards Stindl, but Ulreich was quick off his line to win the ball first.
Gentner takes the first shot of the game, but is falling backwards at the point of contact and gets little power or accuracy on theeffort from 20 yards.
Pinto's free kick is easily cleared tentative pay thus far.
AND THE GAME BEGINS! Stuttgart kick off, and Degen gets himself in a bit of trouble after losing possession to Rausch. Hannover eventually win a free kick on the left.
That's all from here - I hope you enjoyed tonight's coverage. Until next time, all the best...
Harnik is next to go in the book for a rash challenge. Three minutes to be added...
We're approaching kick-off - the players are on the field...
And for Stuttgart, in a 4-2-3-1 shape: Ulreich - Degen, Niedermeier, Delpierre, Boka - Traesch, Gentner - Harnik, Elson, Gebhart - Cacau
Here's the starting line-up for Hannover, which will take a 4-4-2 shape: Fromlowitz - Cherundolo, Eggimann, Pogatetz, Schulz - Stindl, Schmiedebach, Pinto, Rausch - Ya Konan, Schlaudraff
Stuttgart, on the other hand, are 16th in the table with just 12 points from 15 matches. The Swabians have been excellent in the Europa League, but that form has yet to translate into domestic results.
Hannover enter tonight's clash in excellent form, having won four of their last five matches. The 96ers were tipped to be relegation candidates before the season's start, but have already earned 28 points, and are in the lofty position of fourth in the table.
