Out of sorts Bundesliga sides clash as both sides look to get their league campaigns back on track

PROBABLE LINE-UPS
Hannover 96 (4-4-2): Zieler; Cherundolo, Haggui, Pogatetz, Pander; Schmiedebach, Pinto, Stindl, Schlaudraff, Ya Konan

Hannover 96

Norwegian striker Mohammed Abdellaoue was rushed back prematurely for Thursday's Europa League clash with Standard Liege and aggravated his injury, and will miss out on Sunday. Meanwhile Christian Pander will start at left back after recovering from flu - a timely recovery given Christian Schulz's absence through back problems and widsom teeth removal.

Borussia Dortmund (4-2-3-1): Weidenfeller; Piszczek, Hummels, Subotic, Schmelzer; Gundogan, Da Silva; Perisic, Kagawa, Grosskreutz; Lewandowski

Borussia Dortmund

Following Sven Bender's midweek injury against Arsenal, Ilkay Gundogan is set to start in midfield for the German champions. Mario Gotze and Sebastian Kehl are both still suspended, handing starts to Ivan Perisic and Antonio Da Silva, though youngster Mortiz Leitner could start in the place of the latter. Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski will continue in the prolonged absence of Lucas Barrios.

DID YOU KNOW?
  • Hannover's Europa League tie with Standard Liege was signifies their first foray into European football since 1992 - when they lost in the first round of the Cup Winners' Cup.

  • Injured striker Mohammed Abdellaoue (pictured right) has scored half of Hannover's Bundesliga goals this season.
  • This tie comes 30 days since Hannover's last victory - a 2-1 victory over Sevilla in the Europa League play-off round.
  • Dortmund put eight goals past Hannover last year - including a 4-0 victory at the AWD-Arena.
  • The German champions have not lost to Hannover since 2007-08 - where they succumbed to the Lower Saxony side twice.
  • Jurgen Klopp's men have gone four Bundesliga games without victory - longer than any winless streak they went through last season.

22-year-old Ron-Robert Zieler has shone this season despite the disappointing performances of some of his team mates, and with Dortmund's fast, intent passing game, he's bound to busy on Sunday and will be key if his side are to get a point.

I. Perišić

Position: Midfielder

Jurgen Klopp has been sparing in his use of their summer signing from Club Brugge, but following his last minute wonder goal against Arsenal in midweek and the chance handed to him by Mario Gotze's suspension, it could be the 22-year-old's time to shine.

Editor's Prediction

Following Dortmund's encouraging performance in midweek against Arsenal, I'd expect the champions to get their season back on track. A mixture of good goalkeeping and poor finishing saved the London side midweek, and Dortmund are a good enough side to learn from their mistakes and get a much-needed victory this weekend.
