  • UAE should have had a penalty early on in the half but the referee gave away a corner.
  • A special mention must go to Tom Cleverley too. He has been unlucky with injuries in the past season or so and it is great to see him back playing so well. He was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet with his shot coming back of both posts.
  • The hosts have been nothing short of dominant in the first-half. The Welsh contingent have been playing out of their skin as Great Britain take a comfortable 1-0 lead into the break.
  • Half-time: Great Britain 1-0 UAE
  • 44'
How did that not go in? Bellamy runs down that left-hand side again, plays Cleverley in again and his first time shot hits the inside of the right-hand post before bouncing of the left-hand side post and comes back out. Unfortunate.

  • As for UAE, a win against Great Britain would be vital to qualify but they would have to beat group leaders Senegal to guarantee safe passage.
  • A draw would not be the worst result in the world, providing they win against Uruguay but a defeat would make it almost impossible for them to qualify for the next round.
  • With Senegal victorious against Uruguay earlier on today, a win for Great Britain will take them joint top with the Africans. This would make the match against the South Americans a winner takes all game.
