The Black Stars have begun their campaign to Brazil on a clean sheet as comeback kid Dominic Adiyiah and Jordan Ayew score two goals each
Captain Sulley Muntari, Arsenal Kyiv’s Dominic Adiyiah, Jordan Ayew of Olympique Marseille, newly introduced Christian Atsu of Rio Ave and Jerry Akaminko got their names on the score sheet to give coach Kwesi Appiah his first competitive victory since assuming reins as head coach.
A very inspiring Black Stars side dominated possession throughout the game that saw Ghana goalkeeper Adams Kwarasey virtually on a holiday.
The Black Stars banged in three goals in the first half by Muntari, Adiyiah and Ayew. It was a game in which a fresh team was announced with a new coach as every player on the Ghanaian side gave their best in every department to the delight of the Kumasi fans.
A malfunctioning floodlight system nearly marred the game, forcing it to be stopped for about an hour in the second half. A listless Lesotho side could not stop the four-time African champions from making more incursions at their danger zone when the game resumed.
Adiyiah, who is returning to the senior national side after falling down the pecking order for some time now, bagged a double alongside Ayew, with Atsu and Akaminko recording their debut goals in the second half.
The result hands coach Appiah a good start and a confidence boost ahead of their next game against reigning African champions Zambia next week.
