Juan Valera 53'
A. Barrada 75'
G. Higuaín 27'
That is it from me, Tom Webber, tonight. It has been a pleasure to guide you through a cracking match tonight and be sure to stay with Goal.com for all the post-match news and analysis. Have a great evening.
It is full time at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez and the reigning champions have been defeated by Getafe 2-1. Higuain originally gave Los Blancos the lead but Juan Valera, with his first goal since the 1-0 win over Barcelona last year, equalised early in the second half. Abdelaziz Barrada then won it with a fantastic strike to put Mourinho's men five points adrift of Barcelona with just two games played.
90' + 5'
THAT IS IT!! Getafe have won it!
90' + 4'
Another ball into the box from Real but once again Getafe clear it. Yet another is sent in from deep but Moya comes out to claim it. Just seconds remain now.
90' + 3'
Red CardFabio Coentrao
90' + 3'
COENTRAO IS SENT OFF!! The left-back was not even on the pitch but has been shown a red card, seemingly for dissent on the touchlines.
90' + 2'
Getafe win the ball and break forward with Lafita on the right flank. He does well to draw a foul from Ozil and that will wind down some of the time.
90' + 1'
We are into the first of four additional minutes. Can Getafe hang on?
It is flighted towards the back post and Albiol goes wide to pick it up. He wins a corner which Sergio Ramos meets in the box. It looks sure to be the equaliser but a blue shirt gets in the way and Getafe remain on top.
Yellow CardXavi Torres
From the noise in the stadium now you would not suspect that 7000 tickets had remained unsold. Things are getting very desperate for Madrid now and they are eager to get the game going. They have a free kick on the left now...
Once more Madrid fail to defend a corner effectively as Lopo rises to win a header. Fortunately for Los Blancos though his effort is closer to the corner flag than the goal.
A slip from Sergio Ramos enables Lafita to charge at goal from wide on the right. However, the forward seems a bit leggy at this late stage of the game and Xabi Alonso manages to come across and make a crucial challenge.
Good save from Moya! Benzema does well to keep the ball moving as the attack stagnates and he slips in Callejon on the right flank. His cross is diverted towards the keeper but he makes a top save to keep it out of his goal.
Los Blancos are still lacking a decent ball in the final third but their chances will improve as Getafe refuse to get out of their half and join the counterattack.
Madrid launching huge numbers forward now but Getafe's defence seem to have a response for everything in the congested penalty area.
Ángel Di María
Mourinho must be livid with his side. Their lack of ingenuity in the final third has really been exposed here, as has their defensive frailties. They need a goal late on here or they will already trail Barcelona by five points after just two games.
Getafe almost add another! Colunga does excellently again to stretch Madrid down the right and the ball is eventually laid off to Xavi Torres. He strikes it from 20-yards but Casillas gets down to his right and parries the effort away.
Yellow CardRaúl Albiol
GOOOOOOOOOOOAAL!! Getafe take the lead! A quick counter from the hosts begins with Colunga charging away from Raul Abiol after some excellent control. He squares the ball to the unmarked Barrada and he sweeps the ball into the roof of the net.
Great play from Sergio Ramos as he dispossesses Lafita on the half-way line and plays a through-ball up to Benzema. Alexis tracks the Frenchman though and manages to slide the ball out of play.
Barrada's first poor pass of the night there. Getafe had a chance to stretch Madrid but his ball out to Lafita asked to much of his team-mate and eventually ran out of play.
What a miss from Di Maria! The Argentine ran through the middle of the park and took the ball all they way to the edge of the area. With the defenders backing off he opted to shoot but he completely sliced his effort and sent it well wide of the goal.
Benzema drops dip and places a firm pass at the feet of Ronaldo. His first touch spins the defender and he shoots from the top of the box but once again Moya is equal to it. Either corner and that would have been a goal.
The corner is headed away and eventually worked back out to Benzema on the left. He tries to search out a team-mate at the far post but once more a Getafe head gets on the ball.
Again both teams are being sloppy in possession. A turn of pace by Ozil inspires Madrid to try and break through the Getafe defence but Ronaldo is challenged. However, they do win a corner.
The game is really starting to heat up with a number of tasty challenges going in. Both sides look like they could get another and they way it is going you would not bet against that happening.
Getafe get men over just outside the Madrid box but they fail to pull the trigger and test Casillas. Madrid regain the ball and counter but Benzema's effort is blocked on the edge of the area. He has been lively since his introduction.
Mourinho means business! Diarra is replaced by Benzema as Moutinho know his side need to win and the Frenchman almost has an instant impact. A quick give-and-go sets him free but an awkward bounce enables Valera to get back and deflect his shot behind.
Good response from Real. Di Maria is spotted in acres of space out on the left and Xabi Alonso picks him out. The Argentine squares the ball into the danger area but Higuain's shot is blocked and it goes behind for a corner.
So close to another! The Madrid defenders keep backing off Castro just to the right of the box and he tries to pick out Miku. The striker runs onto it but it is too high for him to get his head on it.
Madrid go straight up the other end and earn a free kick of their own. From 30 yards out Ronaldo smashes it but his effort goes straight into the wall. Another disappointing moment for the Portuguese.
AND ONE LEADS TO A GOAL!!! Getafe draw level! Barrada sent in the cross from the right and Valera met the ball with a fantastic header from just inside the box. The placement is great and the power takes it past Casillas. Game on.
Luis Garcia Plaza certainly seems to have said the right words at half tie. Getafe are far more forward-thinking this half but look happy to settle for free kicks.
Barrada clips a free kick from deep towards the back post and Alexis takes a tumble just outside the area. He is upset and he has every right to be, that was some clumsy defending from Higuain.
The game has continued and once more the teams are trading possession all too frequently. Fortunately for Mourinho Xabi Alonso looks able to continue.
Almost immediately Xabi Alonso goes down after passing the ball to a team-mate. He is back on his feet but he may not be able to continue. Looked like a twist of the ankle.
We are back under way with Real Madrid leading 1-0 against Getafe.
Welcome back, the teams are back out on the pitch and the second half is just moments away.
It is half time between Getafe and Real Madrid and the reigning champions take a slender 1-0 lead into the break at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. Higuain scored the goal but the hosts have been well-organised for much of the first 45 minutes and are still in this one. Join me for the second half in 15 minutes.
45' + 1'
The half-time whistle goes!
Good move by Getafe but they fail to work Casillas. Castro stays calm as he carries the ball before passing out wide to Miku. The Venezuelan drives to the line and cuts the ball back but Xavi Torres hits it high into the stands.
Yellow CardJuan Valera
A rather cheap yellow card for Valera as he is caught out of position and has to drag Ronaldo to the floor.
Good reactions from Moya! Ronaldo receives the ball to the left of the box and cuts inside to strike it with his right foot. He puts plenty of power behind it but Moya gets across to palm it away from danger.
It goes all the way through to Valera at the back post but he fails to make a connection. It would not have counted anyway as the assistant referee raised his flag for an offside decision.
The hosts manage to string a few passes together in the opposing half and win a free kick which it looks like Barrada will take. Can they threaten from a set play again?
That could well have been two! Getafe gave the ball away needlessly and Madrid broke at speed through Ozil. The German had two runners in support and tried to thread the ball across to Higuain, who would have been through on goal. But the pass is just out of his reach and it rolls through to Moya.
Los Blancos have put an end to that with some composed passing at the back between Ramos and Raul Albiol. They push on with a cross-field pass by Marcelo but Ronaldo's flick on does not find another white shirt.
The game is returning to a bit of a scrappy nature now with both side's almost hoping for something positive with a wild hit. Of course, nothing actually happens for either team and the ball merely changes hands a couple of times.
Just wide! A corner from Getafe is met by Abraham in the middle of the box but his header shades the outside of Casillas' left-hand post. That was a golden chance for the hosts to restore parity in this one.
A fantastic diagonal ball from deep on the right by Ozil is received by Marcelo down by the byeline. He drills in a cut-back and Higuain attempts to volley it from the top of the box but he miscues and the ball ends up going behind him.
Los Azulones manage to push Madrid back into their own half for a short while but they seem to be continually rushing the play. Eventually they lose the ball and a foul on Arbeloa brings an end to that spell.
That goal will certainly ease the weight of responsibility that Ozil will have been feeling after his miss earlier on. Ronaldo, however, is yet to seem himself thus far and has rarely been involved in the action.
AssistÁngel Di María
GOOOAALL!! Madrid take the lead through Higuain! Di Maria slips the ball up to his compatriot who finds the smallest of gaps between Abraham and Alexis. His first touch is great and he shows great determination to slot in after his initial attempt was blocked.
Good work from Abraham there. He kept a close eye on Ronaldo and managed to get between him and the ball after the Portuguese was played through by Marcelo. He has been impressive so far.
Marcelo is caught on the ball in his own half and in his haste to win the ball back he brings Lafita to ground. The referee sees nothing wrong with the challenge though, much to the dismay of the Getafe gathering in the stands.
Di Maria yet to show that same attacking drive which was evident against Valencia last weekend. That said, he probably has not seen enough of the ball yet, but if Madrid can get him running at Miguel Torres then they will be in with a good shout of breaking the deadlock.
Good save! Ronaldo drills a 30-yard free kick at goal and it looks to be heading for the bottom corner. It bounces just in front of Moya but he manages to parry it aside for a corner, which comes to nothing.
A couple of free kicks for Real Madrid in quick succession. The second one could well be in shooting-range for Ronaldo. What can he make of this?
Madrid have certainly grown in confidence after that chance while the Getafe defenders seem shaken. I'm still struggling to comprehend just how Ozil missed that. Mourinho's men need to pounce soon.
HOW HAS HE MISSED IT!!! What a shocker! Madrid stroll through the heart of the defence with a quick change of tempo as Ozil plays a one-two with Ronaldo. With the goal gaping on the return pass though the German somehow rattles the bar from the edge of the six-yard box. Unbelievable.
Diarra gives the ball away as Madrid try to open some space in the area and Getafe counter with five players marching forward. Lafita passes the ball to Castro and he tries to slip in Miku with his first touch but he hands possession straight back to Los Blancos.
A great, lofted pass by Diarra down the right flank sets Arbeloa free but the full-back is adjudged to have been offside. impressive organisation from Getafe's back line so far but can they keep it up for the full 90 minutes?
Higuain tries to feed Ronaldo as the Portuguese makes a diagonal run through the heart of the Getafe defence but Alexis slides across to make a vital interception.
Both sides have been fairly sloppy when in possession in midfield so far this evening. A number of misplaced passes have already seen the ball change hands frequently.
Poor control lets him down! Barrada clips a cross to the back post and finds Miku. The Venezuelan tries to bring the ball down in the area but his touch is weak and it rolls out for a goal kick. Some better control there and Casillas would certainly have been troubled.
Higuain calls for a penalty after he is held off the ball by Abraham but it looks like there was nothing in it. Solid start to the game from the former Basel defender.
Ronaldo and Marcelo combine well down the left but as the Brazilian tries to get a cross in from the left he runs into an Abraham-shaped wall. Getafe then counter and Lafita attempts to squeeze a shot on target from wide on the right but he cannot test Casillas from there.
Valera catches Ozil around 40 yards from goal and Madrid take the free kick quickly. The ball is played to Ronaldo and he takes one touch before turning and shooting but he misses the target by a long way. Still early days for him though.
No surprises in that Real Madrid have taken control of the ball immediately, albeit aided by taking the kick off. They are looking to probe down the flanks but are yet to find a way through to the byeline.
We are underway at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez!
The teams are entering the stadium now and kick off is just a few moments away. Mourinho's men will be desperate for the win tonight. Can they do it?
The odds suggest that they will be able to secure their first win of the season as they have defeated Getafe in their last seven encounters in all competitions. Furthermore, they are expected to actually outnumber the home fans for tonight's match!
The final whistle has blown in Pamplona tonight and Barcelona narrowly escaped defeat to Osasuna as two goals from Lionel Messi brought the Blaugrana from behind to take all three points. Real Madrid, therefore, can hardly afford to drop more points so early on in the season.
Luis Garcia Plaza was unable to select Pedro Leon for tonight's game due to a clause in his loan deal from the Santiago Bernabeu side. His only other change from last week's hard-fought 2-1 defeat to Sevilla is to bring Xavi Torres in for Mehdi Lacen.
Angel Di Maria and Lassana Diarra also return to the fold after missing out on a starting berth against Barcelona in midweek. Raul Albiol continues in the centre of defence as Pepe fails to recover from his collision with Iker Casillas last week. Finally, Marcelo replaces Fabio Coentrao at left-back for his first start of the new season.
Real Madrid (4-2-3-1): Casillas; Arbeloa, Albiol, Ramos, Marcelo; Diarra, Alonso; Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo; Higuain. Subs: Adan, Varane, Coentrao, Khedira, Benzema, Callejon, Morata.
Getafe (4-2-3-1): Moya; Valera, Alexis, Abraham, M. Torres; Michel, X. Torres; Barrada, Lafita, Castro; Miku. Subs: Codina, Lopo, Mane, Gavilan, Lacen, Sarabia, Colunga.
Los Blancos will be hopeful that tonight will bring their first victory of the new domestic season. A laboured draw in their opener against Valencia was followed by defeat to Barcelona in the first leg of the Supercopa. Having started Gonzalo Higuain in the former and Karim Benzema in the latter, Jose Mourinho has opted to recall the Argentine to the starting line-up tonight. Full team news on the way.
