LAST MEETING

November 7, 2010: Palermo 1-0 Genoa

Palermo registered a much-needed victory at home, thanks to a goal from Mauricio Pinilla on 42 minutes. The Sicilians dominated the match and could have inflicted a heavier defeat on Genoa had they not squandered their chances. The match also saw Rosanero striker Fabrizio Miccoli make his first appearance of the season.

Players to watch

Miguel Veloso

Miguel Veloso will be Genoa's main midfield player against Palermo. The 24-year-old defensive midfielder will have to dominate the middle of the pitch and take care that the Palermo attacking department do not get to impose themselves. The Rosanero have one of the best attacking units in Italy and even though they are incoherent at the moment, they can turn themselves on at any moment - Veloso must be prepared for that.

S. Cosmi

Position: Unknown

Serse Cosmi failed to lead Palermo to a victory in his first game in charge of the Aquile last weekend and he will be under pressure to deliver this time around. Club patron Maurizio Zamparini is not one who takes kindly to defeats and having seen his team lose four games on the trot he will be looking for a victory against Genoa. Cosmi is a quickfix but he will have to motivate his players and sort out the problems against the Grifoni.

Editor's Prediction

Palermo are in crisis and Genoa will hope to take advantage of that. The Grifoni themselves aren't in the best of forms but playing at home they will be confident of at least a point.
