90' + 5'
And that's the match! It's 0-0 at full time in a vastly entertaining game as the unlucky Juventus have failed to score away against Genoa. Milan are now four points clear at the top and Conte's men will be wondering if this is all going wrong at the worst of moments. I'm Julian De Martinis and I'd like to thank you for joining us here on Goal.com!
90' + 4'
Pirlo plays the ball to Elia in the box but Constant reads his movement once again and wins the ball from the Juve man.
90' + 3'
Borriello wins a last gasp corner for his side and the box is absolutely packed with players. The ball rolls across the face of goal, and Borriello tries an acrobatic scissor kick but Frey has the ball in his hands!
90' + 1'
Four minutes of injury time have been added by the fourth official. Genoa take a free kick short, and Rossi is tackled in the box by Pirlo! No penalty is awarded but it's a close call as the referee waves play onward.
The initial corner is clear for another, which is played deep and headed away for a Juventus corner. Vucinic gets the ball just inside the box, turns past his marker and tries to slot the ball into the far corner but his shot drifts millimeters wide!
Borriello comes on for Giaccherini just before Juventus take a corner, as the side look to have as many predatory strikers in the box as possible. The visibly tired Biondini comes off for Belluschi as well.
Del Piero and Vucinic continue to tinker and twist up front, but Genoa's defence is holding firm and the home side continue to look to hit the visitors on the counter.
More Juventus domination near the box but Frey is up to the challenge as he collects Giaccherini's cross.
Vucinic nearly breaks through the Genoa defence but Rossi is reading his every movement and nicks the ball right off his foot. It's been a great performance from the captain tonight.
Lichtsteiner tries a deep cross into the box but it's right at Frey, who has been reliable as ever for his side in the match. The ball falls to Pirlo shortly after, and he isn't afraid to pull the trigger as his shot goes high and wide over the net.
Ten minutes to go here and both sides have had chances to take the lead. The pace has yet to slow as Juventus know that with Milan winning, their hopes of a Scudetto could take a dent today!
WHAT A CHANCE FOR GENOA! Gilardino isn't called offside as he gets on the end of a through ball that forces Buffon to come out of his net. The angle was poor but he blasts over the crossbar with the goal unprotected!
Del Piero's first involvement is a backheel that doesn't quite come off in the box. The visitors regain possession and Vucinic fires from outside the box, which Frey is able to collect.
Palacio is furious and Moretti is injured! The fallout from that last play is massive as a poor Vidal clearance falls right to Palacio, who scuffs his shot as Marchisio steps on his heel. The player wants a penalty but the referee says there was nothing in it!
Alessandro Del Piero
The legendary Del Piero comes on to the delight of the crowd for the ineffective Matri, who couldn't find his finishing boots in the match.
Pressure from Genoa now as the home side have forced a corner, which Constant whips into the box. Matri clears it and Elia tries to counter, but Constant does well to win the ball back.
Free kick to Genoa for Vidal's tackle from behind on Gilardino, about 15 yards outside the box. Kucka strikes the ball superbly and forces Buffon to make a diving parry!
Palacio tries to control a high wayward pass but his header rolls limply to Buffon. De Ceglie races down the other end and duly wins his side their upteenth corner of the match, which ends with Giaccherini firing well wide of target from outside the box.
JUVE FINALLY SCORE... no, wait, Pepe is offside! He's duly subbed moments after hitting the net for Elia, who hasn't played very often for Juventus this season.
Frey makes another save from the corner, pushing the ball out of the box. He's had a superb game; it's thanks to him and the upright that Juve still have yet to score!
Vucinic floats the ball to Marchisio in the heart of the box but Moretti gets in the way and Juve have another corner. It falls to Marchisio outside the box who lines up a superb strike that forces Frey to jump high to parry!
More and more pressure from Juventus but the side cannot get a shot on target at the moment. The ball rolls across the face of goal and out for a corner, which Constant heads away.
Yellow CardEmiliano Moretti
Moretti booked for kicking the leg of Pepe as he was trying to get the ball. Some ire from the home side here as De Ceglie wasn't shown a second yellow for his challenge on Gilardino minutes ago.
Matri clears the initial corner and then the whistle is blown for a foul on De Ceglie: Juventus have survived the first sustained pressure from Genoa in the second half.
Marchisio flicks out the corner but the danger isn't cleared; good work from Gilardino following Constant's pass earns the home side yet another corner.
Biondini stands over the ball and plays it deep. Kaladze's header is parried out by Buffon, but collected again by Genoa. It finds Kaladze again in a wide position and the centre-back tries a volley that he hits right at Buffon! Corner to Genoa.
A rare Genoa foray forward ends abruptly; a poor challenge from De Ceglie takes out Gilardino without getting the ball, just on the right side of the box. Free kick for the home side in an absolute peach of a position.
The booked Jankovic comes off for Constant as Marino will be looking to get his side back into this one. The second half has been nearly entirely Juve-dominated and Genoa are hanging on very dangerously!
A booking for Jankovic as he holds back Pepe. Pirlo plays the ensuing free kick into the box; it finds Pepe unmarked and his jab at goal HITS THE POST! UNBELIEVABLE FROM JUVE! That's the third time now!
Yellow CardBosko Jankovic
Vucinic hits the post again! Pepe plays in a superb cross that finds the former Roma man unmarked in the box. The Montenegrin flicks his header towards the near post and it bobs agonizingly wide!
A rare Genoa attack is wasted as Biondini's ball over the top of the defence reaches only Buffon instead of the intended target, Gilardino.
Pirlo's long range effort forces Frey to tip the ball over the bar and fall into his own net! The shot had a vicious swerve on it and nearly caught the veteran keeper unaware!
Very strange sights in the box as Matri goes down in the box and Mesto awkwardly clears the ball after Pepe heads the ball across the face of goal. Another corner is awarded but this one goes far over everyone.
Yet another corner for Juventus as Vucinic goes rampaging into the box. Jankovic is booked before it can be taken for a needless tackle in the previous play
JUVE HIT THE CROSSBAR! Frey is caught just watching the ball as Vucinic's backwards header from Pirlo's corner goes smashing into the upright! Unlucky from the visitors who are still hunting for a goal.
Carvalho gets his foot in the way of Matri's shot deep in the box! That begets a corner for Juventus, which Kaladze knocks out for another.
Giaccherini slots the ball to Vucinic in the box. The former Roma striker is surrounded by defenders and loses possession lamely before he can fire a shot.
Marchisio and Vucinic exchange passes near the box; as the latter tries to turn, he's robbed of possession. Pepe and then Pirlo earn two corners in quick succession.
An unusually bad cross from Lichtsteiner, who tries to thump the ball into the box without stopping it off a pass from Giaccherini and instead blazes it behind the goal.
De Ceglie makes an excellent run down the flank and tries to play a give-and-go with Vucinic, but the return pass falls behind him. It's been a lively match from the fullback.
A poor first touch from Giaccherini sprays the ball too far in front of him, just as he was lining up a shot from the edge of the box after a cut-back from Marchisio.
Sculli coming off for Mesto as Marino makes a half-time change for Genoa. The home side begin with a long ball forward that De Ceglie shepards out.
45' + 1'
Jankovic over-elaborates on the wing and dribbles himself out of bounds under double coverage from De Ceglie and Giaccherini. That's the last action of the half, which began very strongly and faded somewhat. The visitors were the better side for long periods but Genoa always threatened on the counter in a match where few players really shone. Join us in 15 for the second half!
Palacio again proving to be a thorn in the side of Juve's defence, as his effort at closing down the ball high up the pitch deflects it to Buffon.
Jankovic wastes the effort, which was in a glorious position, by striking the ball weakly towards the far post. Buffon is easily able to scoop that one up without much fuss.
Yellow CardPaolo De Ceglie
The ball hits Vidal on the hand just on the edge of the box as he and De Ceglie struggled to contain Palacio, and a free-kick is duly awarded to Genoa. De Ceglie is booked.
Rossi with a perfect challenge to block Matri's shot from almost point blank! Vucinic once again had slipped the ball to the striker, who turned to shoot but only found the leg of the Genoa captain. Juventus with the same problems here as most of the season: making chances but not finishing them.
Yellow CardSimone Pepe
Pepe booked now for mouthing off to the referee; he's furious that no handball has been given when his cross is deflected off Moretti, whose hands were placed behind his back in an effort to not hit the ball.
From just outside the box on the left, Pirlo shoots on goal from the set piece but his effort lacks the necessary dip and goes over Frey's goal.
Vucinic wins a free-kick for his side after picking up the ball and outright demanding one after a light challenge from Kucka. The Genoa players are furious but the referee does not overturn his decision.
Giaccherini picks Rossi's pocket as the defender hesitates with his pass; luckily for the home side, the cross played into the box is overhit and goes out for a Genoa throw-in.
Pirlo tries a long-range effort on goal from a central position; despite having room to direct the shot on target, his effort fails to trouble Frey. A poor shot from Pirlo.
Caceres races to the edge of the box to knock the ball off of Biondini's foot cleanly. Both players go down as a result of the challenge, much to the ire of the home support.
Genoa counter and Sculli's first time shot whizzes just over the bar, as has become the norm for the home side this half.
Solid build-up from the visitors begets a corner as Pepe's cross is deflected out. Pirlo wafts it in and it's cleared several times before leaving the box. Juve regain it and play it wide, but the players are furious that a handball isn't called as the ball just seems to have struck Biondini in the box.
Giaccherini tries to dribble his way into the box but Rossi reads the movement and clears. Genoa counter; Biondini plays a superb cross into the box and Gilardino heads over from just yards out!
Vucinic absolutely instrumental at the moment. His initial shot in the box is blocked but he slots it through for Matri moments later, whose effort is poor and right at Frey.
Jankovic nearly creates a goal out of nothing! He dribbles past two players, gets near the box, and unleashes a shot; it's blocked but falls right back to him, and his first time follow-up goes just over the bar! It's been poor from Genoa so far but this serves as a warning to Juve: score or risk falling behind despite all the domination.
Pirlo tries to reach the onrushing Pepe in the box but his through ball hits the back of the winger's heels. Juve recoup possession and Lichtsteiner whips one in from the wing directly at Frey, who's all too glad to see the ball so central.
Another decent spell for the visitors in the box fails to lead to a goal. Vucinic was once again instrumental, trying to cross for Matri but failing to reach his target.
Yellow CardJuraj Kucka
First booking of the match goes to Kucka after a collision with Marchisio. Both players argue but it's the former that goes into the book.
Vucinic growing into an orchestrating role up top, holding up play before releasing the ball and joining his teammates in the box. Matri goes down after a struggle with Carvalho, claiming a shirt tug, but play is waved on.
Pepe goes up against Moretti on the left, and it's the Genoa defender who comes out on top as he cuts out the winger's cross.
WHAT A CHANCE FOR JUVE! Vucinic plays a superb ball into the box for Marchisio, who's all alone against Frey. The midfielder takes the shot with his first touch but hits it right at the goalie from mere yards out! Unreal sights in the box; that could've easily been a goal!!
Sculli bundles into Vucinic and gifts the visitors a free-kick. As per usual, it's taken very quickly by Pirlo but the occasion comes to nothing. Genoa counter dangerously and Buffon rushes out of the box to clear the ball! Vidal-Caceres indeed looking like the makeshift pairing that they are at the moment.
Jankovic wins a corner from the home side, who are getting back into the match now after a poor spell. His delivery is headed out of the box and results in a Juventus throw.
Palacio has a shot blocked by Vidal from ten yards outside the box, in a central position. Immediately after, Gilardino tries to race onto a through ball but Buffon is able to get to it first.
Biondini once again called into saving action at the back as Giaccherini races dangerously towards the byline. It's all Juventus at the moment as Genoa's passing out from the back has been nothing short of atrocious.
Carvalho gives the ball away very deep in their own half. Matri races with it down towards goal and it goes out for a corner. From that, Vucinic tries an audacious curving shot to the far corner but the ball bounces well wide of the post.
Frey pulls off a wonderful stop from Pepe, parrying the ball out for a corner at very close range. The ensuing corner leads to nothing.
That's a great counter-attack spurned by Juve! Matri led the charge down the wing and suddenly Genoa were defending three of the visitors with just two defenders. The striker tried to square the ball for Giaccherini but Biondini just raced back to collect the ball!
Caceres struggles to deal with Palacio on the left side of the box, but his presence forces the striker to give the ball back to his midfield. Genoa use the opportunity to launch the ball towards Gilardino in the box, but the cross is overhit and goes out for a goal-kick.
Pepe whips in a fantastic cross that meets Giaccherini ahead of the Genoa defence. Frey rushes out of his goal but the Juve man somehow pokes the ball wide despite being clear in front of net! Early chances for both sides now!
Lichtsteiner does well to win the ball high in Genoa's half but loses it as he charges into the box.
Referee Rizzoli has blown the whistle and the match has begun! The visitors lose the ball almost immediately and Buffon is forced into a superb save right off the bat! Palacio gets on the end of Gilardino's through pass and tries an audacious volley on net, which a fully outstretched Buffon just manages to push over the bar! What a start to the match!
Both sides walking out of the dugout now. Each is docked in their usual home attire: Genoa in blue and red and Juventus in black and white.
In other words, this has all the makings of a great match: two sides that look defensively vulnerable with both anxious for points (Genoa have dropped to 14th in the table; another loss could have them looming perilously in the spots just above relegation).
Juventus, coached by Conte's assisstant Angelo Alessio today, have begun to look somewhat fragile in defence. Despite having conceded the fewest goals in the league, the Bianconeri have been scored upon by each of their last four opponents: Catania, Milan, Chievo, and Bologna. In their ten pervious fixtures before that run, however, the Old Lady had allowed just three goals in: strikes from Roma's Daniele De Rossi, Cagliari's Andrea Cossu and Udinese's Antonio Floro Flores.
Both sides have options on the bench, with the visitor's in particular looking quite attractive, featuring Alessandra Del Piero, Fabio Quagliarella, and Luca Marrone amongst others. Genoa bench: Lupatelli, Mesto, Veloso, Belluschi, Constant, Jorquera, Ze Eduardo. Juve bench: Storari, Padoin, Marrone, Elia, Del Piero, Quagliarella, Borriello
The home side must play without Cesare Bovo and Luca Antonelli as well as Andreas Granqvist but do regain Alberto Gilardino from injury, who partners Giuseppe Sculli up front. Frey; Rossi, Carvalho, Kaladze, Moretti; Jankovic, Kucka, Biondini, Sculli; Gilardino, Palacio
Lineups have been announced, and both sides have been forced to deal with numerous injuries. The visitors have been hit the hardest, losing defensive stalwarts Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli to injury and Leonardo Bomucci to suspension. Arturo Vidal slots in as a makeshift centre-back along winter signing Martin Caceres, allowing Emanuele Giaccherini to take his place in the midfield. Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Caceres, Vidal, De Ceglie; Giaccherini, Pirlo, Marchisio; Pepe, Matri, Vucinic
Things are falling apart for the home side as well. Pasquale Marino's side have failed to win in their last five matches, losing three and drawing the most recent two.
The Old Lady in particular are hitting a sticky patch at just the wrong moment in the Scudetto race. Momentum has swung AC Milan's way following four draws from five matches from Antonio Conte's men. The side will be missing their coach who is suspended following his expulsion last weekend against Chievo.
Welcome to Goal.com's match coverage of Genoa-Juventus! This round 27 fixture features two sides in desperate need of points, having just a single win in their last ten matches combined.
