Mancini's side are now second in Group B after Real Madrid's 2-1 win over ten-man Juventus, and another win in the reverse fixture in Denmark could put them in control of their own destiny. On the other hand, Copenhagen need a win in two weeks' time to have any chance of reaching the last 16. I've been Tom Maston and thanks for joining me.
The referee blows for full-time and Galatasaray have run out deserved winners. Three first-half goals were enough to win them the points despite Claudemir's late strike, and they can be happy enough with their overall display.
We are into two minutes of stoppage time now. Can Galatasaray finish with a flourish?
Assist Youssef Toutouh
GOAL!!! Copenhagen have deserved a goal for their second half display, and Claudemir has provided a consolation. The midfielder plays into Jorgensen's feet, who in turn finds Toutouh. The substitute miscontrols but it falls nicely for the Brazilian to place the ball past Muslera.
A third and final change for Galatasaray as Drogba completes the hat-trick of goalscorers to be substituted. Bulut is the man to replace him.
Another chance for Copenhagen as Claudemir looks for Jorgensen at the back post. The ball has just too much on it for the striker though and Muslera can watch it behind. The visitors also make a change as Braaten makes way for Toutouh.
Little action to speak of as the teams trade short periods of possession. This match has been over for a long time now.
Copenhagen almost grab a consolation as the ball finds Adi in the box. His shot on the turn is blocked by Chedjou before Jorgensen fires the rebound over the bar.
The second of Galatasaray's goalscorers gets a standing ovation as Sneijder is replaced by Amrabat.
Both sides are starting to go through the motions somewhat with the result pretty much assured. The fans are beginning to party with Galatasaray set to go second in Group B.
A first change for the hosts as Melo departs after getting the ball rolling early on. Gulselam on in his place.
Yilmaz will eventually score, but it may not be tonight. Sneijder puts him in the clear, but after cutting onto his left foot his shot is too high. He could have had a hat-trick on another night.
Yilmaz again involved as he breaks forward before looking for Drogba, but Sigurdsson does well to get back and deflect it away.
Drogba has been excellent tonight, and he almost creates something out of nothing. Sneijder finds him midway inside the Copenhagen half, and after jogging up to the edge of the box he breaks into a sprint before looking for Yilmaz with a cross. Just too much on it though.
Claudemir finally shows what he is about with a through ball for Bolanos to run onto, but under pressure from Kaya he goes down and the chance is gone.
WHAT A MISS! Yilmaz has worked hard but not shown much quality tonight, and he should have scored here. Drogba puts him through with a delightful pass but the Turkey striker cannot curl his effort into the bottom corner as his shot drifts wide of the post. A great chance.
Jorgensen looks much more comfortable after being moved from the left into a central attacking role, and he sets off an attacking run towards goal. He can't quite find a pass though, and Bolanos' resulting cross is well caught by Muslera.
The longer this one goes on at 3-0 the more unlikely a Copenhagen comeback gets. They are still passing it around nicely enough but cannot find that killer pass.
Galatasaray finally wake up in the second half and go so close to making it 4-0. Drogba gets down the right and crosses for Sneijder. The Netherlands midfielder gets across Melberg but Wiland does well to tip over.
Another opportunity for the visitors as Bengtsson gets forward before passing inside to Braaten. The forward hits a powerful effort from the edge of the box but Muslera parries away.
Better from Copenhagen as Bolanos gets Jorgensen in behind. The striker looks to square to Adi but Chedjou recovers well to clear the danger.
Galatasaray come forward down the left as Yilmaz finally shows what he can do, but there is a lack of support and the visitors can clear.
After the frantic opening to the first half, it has almost been the polar opposite in the second period. Neither goalkeeper has been tested as yet.
Galatasaray have hardly got out of their own half since the break, but they look happy to soak up the pressure from the visitors.
Copenhagen are certainly looking to take a more direct approach as the tall Adi joins Jorgensen up front. No chances to speak of so far though, and you feel they'll need an early goal to have any chance of getting back into this one.
It's a double change for the visitors, with Bolanos and Adi replacing Gislason and Vetokele. The referee is happy with everything and we are back underway in Istanbul...
Unsurprisingly Solbakken has sent his side out early for the second period as they look to claw their way back into this one. Changes look like they may be afoot also.
Goals from Melo, Sneijder and Drogba are the difference, and in truth the star trio have all shown their class in the opening 45 minutes. I'll be back in around ten minutes for the second half.
And there goes the half-time whistle. Galatasaray lead 3-0 and may well have the points sewn up already. Copenhagen have passed it well without really threatening, and it will take something special to get anything from here now.
45' + 3'
Muslera almost gets himself into trouble on the edge of his own box but does enough to clear the danger. The hosts certainly don't want to spoil this first-half showing by conceding a needless goal.
45' + 1'
Assist Emmanuel Eboue
45' + 1'
Goal Didier Drogba
GOAL!!! All over before half-time? Quite possibly now. Drogba is the man who finds the net after Bruma sets Eboue free down the right. The full back draws Wiland out of his goal before finding his Ivory Coast teammate at the back post, and he can't miss. Too easy.
Galatasaray are just looking to run down the clock now until the break. They certainly deserve their two-goal lead.
Mellberg isn't happy with the referee as he feels Drogba has a hold of him inside the Galatasaray area. Doesn't seem to be much basis to that complaint though.
Copenhagen continue to pass the ball around with relative ease, but they are showing no potency in the final third. With their attacking flair shining through this is too easy at present for the hosts.
Assist Emmanuel Eboue
Goal Wesley Sneijder
GOAL!!! As if he was reading this stream, Sneijder has doubled Galatasaray's lead. It all comes from Eboue driving at the heart of the Copenhagen defence before finding the midfielder, who in turn slots past Wiland into the bottom corner. Daylight for the hosts.
Sneijder has shown some flashes of brilliance so far, and he almost provides Drogba with an opportunity, only for Sigurdsson to head away from the striker.
Copenhagen have certainly grown into this match after their early setback, and Jorgensen is the latest to try his luck for the Danes. The winger cuts inside from the left but his effort is a wild one and is too high to trouble Muslera.
Yellow Card Thomas Delaney
The first yellow card of the match is shown as Delaney goes in with a high foot on Melo and has his name taken. He will now miss the reverse fixture in Denmark as it is his second booking of the competition.
Some concern here for Eboue as he trudges off the pitch holding his shoulder. He has since made his way back on, but that may not last.
Drogba is the man to hit it from 35 yards, and though his effort has plenty of power behind it, Wiland can gather it easily in the centre of his goal.
Sneijder and Melo are starting to have more influence on the game, and after some nice interplay between the pair the home side have a free-kick in a dangerous position.
A first proper sight of Bruma down the right as he uses his pace to get to the byline. His pull back is a poor one though and is easily cleared.
A promising Galatasaray move breaks down after Yilmaz misplaces a pass, and Copenhagen are happy just to keep the ball at present. They obviously feel the chances will come and aren't going all out for an equaliser straight away.
Muslera has finally been patched up and seems to be suffering no ill effects from the blow he took. Play is back underway.
A slight stoppage here as Muslera has taken a blow to the face from Drogba as Galatasaray defended a corner. The goalkeeper has a fair amount of blood on his face so this may take some cleaning up.
Another corner, and again Vetokele is the target. Bengtsson's in-swinger from the right finds the Belgian striker at the near post but his effort is wide.
There has hardly been time to pause for breath in the opening stages of this one, and only some passing in midfield from Copenhagen has slowed this game down.
GREAT SAVE! Almost a second for Galatasaray as Drogba shows he still has what it takes to terrorise defences at this level. He uses great strength to hold off Sigurdsson before firing goalwards, only for Wiland to parry well.
Vetokele looks set to be a threat from crosses as he is again a target, this time from a corner. He meets the ball from the right at the near post but he cannot control his header and flies well over the bar.
A first half-chance for the visitors as a cross from Gislason is heading towards Vetokele at the back post, but the striker is denied by an excellent clearing header from Eboue.
This has been a chastening start for Copenhagen, but that goal has at least shocked them into life. No chances as yet, but they are putting together some nice passes.
Assist Dany Nounkeu
Goal Felipe Melo
GOAL!!! It's been coming , and the hosts have the lead through Melo. Drogba does well to keep the ball in the right-hand corner before Nounkeu swings over an inviting cross that the Brazil midfielder powerfully heads past Wiland.
It has been all Galatasaray so far, with Copenhagen struggling to keep possession when they get it.
First real sight of goal for the hosts as Eboue swings over a cross from the right and Sneijder acrobatically volleys straight at Wiland.
An early worry here for Galatasaray as Yilmaz stays down after a heavy challenge. They won't want to lose him early on.
Galatasaray kick-off and we are underway...
The two teams are ready, and the Macedonian officials are just going through their final checks. Can Galatasaray kickstart their Champions League campaign, or will Copenhagen spring a surprise?
The instantly recognisable Champions League anthem blares out of the speakers in Istanbul before the two teams go through their customary pre-match handshakes. We are just moments away now from kick-off.
Copenhagen are in the tunnel, and after a short wait have been joined by the Galatasaray players. A wall of noise awaits the two teams.
As always there is a great atmosphere amongst the Galatasaray supporters, with plenty of banners on show. The crowd are bouncing around as they look forward to seeing whether their side can pick up their first Champions League win of the season.
The players have gone through their pre-match warm-ups as we continue to countdown to kick-off. There are less than ten minutes now until we will be getting underway.
If we are to see a home win tonight, then Wesley Sneijder could be a key man. The Dutch international got his name on the scoresheet twice in the win over Karabukspor, but that only took his tally to seven since moving to the club from Inter Milan in January. The 2010 Champions League winner has always been able to provide goals, but there is hope his brace at the weekend could see him start supporting Drogba in the goalscoring stakes.
Last season's quarter-finalists Galatasaray are still getting to grips with the way Mancini goes about his business, and there has been some unrest amongst supporters after some rather more defensive displays. A heavy win here, though, could appease those detractors as a victory coupled with anything less than three points for Juventus in Santiago Bernabeu would see the Turkish side go second. The same can also be said, though, of Copenhagen.
Umut Bulut, whose late equaliser rescued a point against Juventus on matchday two, must again wait for his chance from the bench as Yilmaz replaces Albert Riera. Copenhagen also make a change up front from their last European outing, as Vetokele replaces Toutouh.
Copenhagen: Wiland; Jacobsen, Mellberg, Sigurdsson, Bengtsson; Gislason, Claudemir, Delaney, Jorgensen; Braaten, Vetokele.
Galatasaray: Muslera; Eboue, Kaya, Chedjou, Nounkeu; Bruma, Inan, Melo, Sneijder; Yilmaz, Drogba.
The teams have been announced ahead of kick-off in the Turk Telekom Arena, so let's take a look at the line-ups...
Both the sides in action this evening have been heavily defeated by Real Madrid as well as picked up a point from Juventus in their opening two matches, so they could be evenly matched. Roberto Mancini's Galatasaray side may have home advantage, but after only arresting a run of seven matches without a win at the weekend, they are far from in formidable form. Stale Solbakken's Danish side, on the other hand, have won three of their last four matches.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of this evening's Champions League encounter between Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen. The pair lie outside of the qualification places in Group B, but a win tonight for either side could put them in pole position to reach the last 16 after three of their six matches. I'm Tom Maston and I'll be guiding you through all the action from Istanbul.
