Did not look comfortable. Dropped a couple of crosses in the area and was not strong enough under the high ball against Fletcher. Got both hands to Johnson's free kick but could not keep it out; same story for Ki as the shot flew through bodies and was nutmegged for the third. A real weak link.
On another day, his attempted block would have prevented Ki's opener but instead it just helped it beyond Stockdale. Poor communication with his midfield was an issue throughout and he hung out a leg for Altidore to tumble over and win the late penalty.
Happy to push forward and try to hug the touchline as an outlet but repeatedly caught out when defending. Booked for a rash challenge on Borini. Well out of position for the third, his final product was all over the place ... the full-back does not look anywhere close to earning a new contract.
Far from dominant up against Fletcher, particularly in the air, and could have reacted more quickly for the second goal. Overrun for the third as Fulham were left short at the back.
Intercepted and delivered a fine cross for Berbatov in Fulham's best chance of the first 45 minutes but his output going forward is usually better.
Kept things ticking over nicely in midfield and went close with a 30-yarder. Did the dirty jobs well but, like the rest of midfield, guilty of conceding too many free kicks in dangerous areas. Booked for a spectacularly late foul on Johnson.
Gave an industrious performance on the right flank and came up with a telling set-piece delivery for Sidwell's goal. Did not last the 90, though - substituted for Dejagah.
Booked for repeat fouling in the middle of the pitch and struggled to get anything going in the final third. Stooped to head Fulham back into the game for his fifth of the season and should have had his sixth but Mannone plunged on the line to prevent him from tapping home.
Looked to have wasted a three-on-two when he held onto the ball but dipped the shoulder, went by Brown and watched Mannone tip over his ferocious drive. Otherwise it was the usual story. Fancy feet, not much end product and faded. Replaced by Kasami.
Made his return to Craven Cottage from the left flank and looked bright. Volleyed home a disallowed goal but faded as the game wore on and was taken off with 12 minutes to go.
Cut a frustrated figure. Did more chasing than he finds comfortable and missed a golden chance from 10 yards. Very little about which to shout.
Made a superb stop in the first half from Taarabt at his near post but was otherwise untroubled until Sidwell nodded home from close range. Kept calm under pressure in the late stages and made a stunning reflex save on the line from Sidwell in the dying moments.
Returned to the first XI and defended with grit and determination.
One loose pass put his team in danger early on but otherwise defended well as Sunderland retreated to the edge of the box.
Looked for his second goal in a week, cutting onto his left and firing at goal. Otherwise was steady and unspectacular, keeping tabs on Dempsey.
Gives Sunderland a decent outlet on the left flank and was happy to trundle forward. Saw his follow-up shot well saved by Stockdale but could have done better.
Joined Ki and Cattermole in the Sunderland midfield and was tenacious throughout. Picked up a yellow card.
The South Korean is a bit hit-and-miss with his output but this performance was just for what Poyet would have asked. His run for the second goal deceived Fulham and he fired intelligently through a packed penalty box before sliding Johnson in for the third goal with a delicious through-ball.
Harried, chased and, as expected, got involved in a couple of scrapes, most notably with Parker and then Sidwell. Kept his powder dry, though, and left the field without a card. A more mature display from the club captain.
The star man. Won the free kick which he curled brilliantly past Stockdale. Pinged a lovely cross for Ki for the second then tucked his next big chance away for his own double. Wrapped up the hat-trick with a late penalty. Booked for over-zealous celebrations but that will not take away from a man back at the top of his game.
A disciplined performance from the left flank. Joined Fletcher when he could but by and large happy to tuck into midfield and help his side defend from the front. Fired one shot wide from range.
Worked tirelessly and gave Amorebieta a run for his money. Headed just over, challenging with Stockdale, and replaced on the 65th minute by Altidore, presumably after the knock which he picked up in midweek.
