Shots on Target
Thank you for joining me this afternoon. Whatever your team's result, I hope you have a great evening! This is Hayden Gribble, signing off.
As for the Saints, they go marching on. They fully deserved their first away win this calendar year and for the on-looking England manager Roy Hodgson, his Three Lions on the pitch all scored and impressed throughout.
FULL TIME: FULHAM 0-3 SOUTHAMPTON. A close, well fought first half gave away to a capitulation from the home side as goals from Lallana, Lambert and Rodriguez sink the Cottagers further into the relegation mire.
90' + 2'
Craven Cottage is so empty now its sad to see. What can Fulham do to turn their torrid form around? Not long now and it will be the away fans going back pleased with their team's performance.
There will be THREE minutes of added on time.
Eighteen-year-old Sam Gallagher gets a few more Premier League minutes under his belt as he replaces goalscorer Rodriguez. Boy, has he put a shift in today!
With five minutes to go, all that the Cottagers can do is limit the damage that has been done in this game. The points are gone, though and the team will have to have a long hard look at themselves and look to improve to escape the bottom three.
William Kvist Jörgensen
STAT ATTACK: Rickie Lambert has scored in each of the last three Premier League meetings between the sides.
The Saints are marching on again here as they look to score yet another and really rub salt in the home side's gaping wounds.
The Cottagers may have brought Dempsey and Kasami on to lend some assitance to Bent up front but all it has done is opened up the play in the middle of the park, where it was so congested in the first half.
Mauricio Pochettino's name is being sung like a hymn by the away support as the Fulham fans are filing out of Craven Cottage. They have seen enough of their side today and are staring the possibility of relegation in the face.
GOAL! Outstanding. Just outstanding. Rodriguez does it all himself. The England International cuts inside on his right foot and rifles a brilliant curlnig shot into the top corner of the net. Fulham are falling apart!
Scott Parker has actually had a decent game for the Cottagers today but he has been sacrificed for Kasami. When they run out of subs I have a feeing the home side will throw the kitchen sink in the mix too!
The Fulham fans are looking both shocked and angry at their side's second half performance. They cannot afford to lose this!
GOAL! Southampton have doubled their lead! Clyne and Davis play a great one-two and the right-back's low cross finds Lambert unmarked in the box and he finishes superbly from ten yards. Game over?
STAT ATTACK: Saints have lost 10 points from winning positions this season. Only Sunderland, Stoke and West Ham have lost more.
DEFLECTED! Fulham are all sixes and sevens at the back and clear their lines straight to the feet of Davis, who piledrives it from 20 yards but his shot hits the legs of Hangeland and goes out for a corner. The home side are melting under the pressure here.
GOAL! Finally, we have a goal! And it is from the best player on the pitch in this game. Lambert lays the ball off to Lallana, who bears down on goal unchallenged and slots a confident low shot past Fulham's keeper for our first goal of the game!
SLICE! Oh dear. Rodriguez finds space in the box but manages to slice his effort away from the target and then draws an equally comical slice from Hangeland as he attempts to clear it. Nerves, much?
STAT ATTACK: Southampton's last two matches have ended 2-2; only one team in Premier League history (Liverpool - September 2002) has drawn three successive matches 2-2.
SAVE! Lallana meets a fine pass from Davis but his shot is swinging off target and is covered by a scrambling Stekelenburg. The Saints are growing in strength.
BLOCKED! Parker plays a fantastic ball over the defence with a great touch but Bent fails to trouble Boruc with his shot as Fonte closes down.
The Saints fans are drowning the home support out now as their side continue to swamp possession. This game does need a goal soon though to wake proceedings up.
The Craven Cottage faithful are roaring like lions in the stands, emploring their team forward. They need to get Holtby on the ball more to create more chances for the home side.
OVERHEAD KICK! If that had found the target, it would have been a special goal. Schneiderlin is in acres of space in the box and goes for the spectacular but fails to trouble Fulham's keeper.
OFF TARGET! Rodriguez fires a low shot through the legs of Richardson and steers it well wide of the target.
The Cottagers are looking hungry on the ball here. But the main battles are still taking place in the middle of the pitch as both sides fight for supremacy.
Southampton get us back underway as they kick from left to right.
Both sides are coming back out on the pitch. Who will be make the difference this half?
HALFTIME: FULHAM 0-0 SOUTHAMPTON. No way through for either team so far as we enter the break with scoreless. Boruc was in fine form to produce a fantastic double save from a relatively quiet Bent and Rodriguez has tested the Cottagers' keeper a couple of times too but all in all, a quiet first half.
There will be TWO minutes of added on time.
ACROBATIC! Lallana has so much time on the ball and picks our Rodriguez but the striker tries to make contact with an audatious scissor kick when it would have been easier to head it!
I think that the home side can only benefit from a change of formation in the second half. There is no one up front for Bent to play off and it is restricting the Cottagers chances. Plus it would make this game more open!
Luke Shaw is not finding the spaces to attack in front of him as much as he did against Arsenal in midweek as his cross loses it's radar and falls into the Fulham keeper's gloves.
CHANCE! Lambert and Rodriguez are playing some lovely link play up front for the Saints and cause problems for the Cottagers as they bear down on goal. A cross from Lambert finds his strike partner but there is a lack of pace on his shot and Fulham clear.
STAT ATTACK: Fulham have now gone eight league games without keeping a clean sheet, the longest run in the top division.
GREAT SAVE! Boruc thwarts Bent! Twice! The England International goes close twice in quick succession after finding space in the box but his low shots are parried away. That has woken things up!
Yellow CardMorgan Schneiderlin
OUCH! Yosida takes a whack on the head after going up for a fifty-fifty and the physio is on to tend to his injury. He looks well enough to continue and even has time to share a joke with the man with the magic sponge.
The home side keep lobbing the ball up front to Bent but the striker is having a problem trying to get a touch at the moment. He needs help from his midfielders as he continues to cut an isolated figure.
CHANCE! As we reach the half-hour mark both sides are still without a goal but it looks like the visitors are on top. Rodriquez manages to get his head to a corner but the Fulham keeper tips it wide!
SHOWBOAT! Parker is a touch over-elaborate in trying to clear and manages to backheel to a teammate just outside his own penalty area. Not quite what he wanted to do but it did not set alarm bells ringing in the Cottagers' back four.
Yellow CardVictor Wanyama
OUCH! Wanyama clashes with Parker and knocks the England International flying. It looks worse than it was but it is enough to earn the midfielder a booking.
GREAT SAVE! Fulham win a corner on the left and Holtby finds Hangeland with an awesome cross but Boruc is elastic and meets the defender's header with his palm and turns it away from goal!
Despite both sides having a few chances on goal it is safe to say that both keepers have been largely untroubled so far. Who will pick the lock and break the deadlock first?
WIDE! Chambers leaves Sidwell chasing shadows as he turns and rifles a low shot well wide of Stekelenburg's goal.
WELL WIDE! Sidwell fluffs his lines from 25 yards and hits a tame effort off target. Riether showed some good attacking prowess down the right again to find the midfielder.
Holtby looks like he has been given the responsibility to take all the free-kicks today as he looks to find Hangeland in the box but his effort is too deep.
Yellow CardJay Rodriguez
Lewis Holtby plays a lovely ball down the right to Riether but the right-back's ball is straight across the face of goal and fails to find a white shirt.
HIGH, WIDE AND NOT VERY PRETTY: The Saints win a corner on the right. Lallana swings it out to the edge of the area for Schneiderlin to have a pop at goal but the midfielder hoofs it into the stands.
STAT ATTACK: Victory in this fixture invariably goes to the home side. Southampton have only won twice in 28 league matches at Fulham, while the Cottagers only have one league win from 29 trips to the south coast. (BBC Sport)
It's Southampton's' turn to enjoy some possession as their slick passing play has the home side on their toes. It is a confident start from the visitors.
BUTTERFINGERS! Stekelenburg nearly has his head in his hands as a Rodriguez cross from the left hits the Dutch keeper and takes him by surprise. Luckily, Sidwell is on hand to smash the ball clear.
OVER! Fulham win the first corner of the game and Riise finds Burn roughly seven yards out but the young defender heads high and over Boruc's goal.
SAVE! Parker breaks forward for the Cottagers and finds himself in acres of space after being pulled about by Wanyama but the former Spurs man decides to chip his shot from the edge of the box and it is dealt with by Boruc.
Lallana dances aroud Hangeland in the box and picks out the advanced Chambers but he is unable to find a gap to fire in a chance on goal and loses the ball.
The Saints fans are singing their hearts out here as their team are probing the Cottagers back four form the off. Lallana will be the important catalyst when it comes to creating chances today as Darren Bent is caught offside for the home side.
We are underway, with the home side kicking from left to right.
There will be a minutes applause for former Fulham Director Dennis Turner, which is very well observed by both sets of fans.
Both teams are about to emerge from the tunnel onto a sunny, bright pitch at Craven Cottage. Kick-off is moments away!
TEN MINUTES TO GO! Not long now until kick-off. Who is your money on today?
Meanwhile for Mauricio Pochettino's men there is just one change to the side who impressed against Arsenal on Tuesday by introducing Victor Wanyama back into the side as they look to get back to winning ways.
Rene Meulensteen has made four changes from the side who faced Swansea in midweek. New signings Lewis Holtby and William Kvist earn a place in the side whilst Darren Bent leads the line up front in place of the departed Dimitar Berbatov.
Southampton (4-3-3): Boruc; Chambers, Fonte, Yoshida, Shaw; Wanyama, Schneiderlin, S. Davis; Lallana, Rodriguez, Lambert. Subs: K. Davis, Clyne, Ward-Prowse, Cork, Guly, Hooiveld, Gallagher.
Fulham (4-5-1): Stekelenburg; Riether, Hangeland, Burn, Richardson; Duff, Sidwell, Kvist, Parker, Holtby; Bent. Subs: Stockdale, Kasami, Kacaniklic, Rodallega, Dempsey, Tankovic, Passley.
Good afternoon! Welcome to our coverage of this exciting Premier League clash between Fulham and Southampton at Craven Cottage.
