The Australian is a key member of Hughes' team and he displayed all his reflexes to tip over an Ivanovic effort in the first half. Comfortably dealt with everything Chelsea threw at him.
Dependable utility defender let no-one down with a solid performance against the potentially dangerous Malouda. Timed his challenges well, used the ball sensibly in possession and kept the Frenchman relatively subdued.
The Mexican left back supported Dempsey well down the flank, and looked comfortable defensively. Could have been more accurate in possession but looked decent overall.
Northern Ireland defender was as reliable as ever, though he occasionally looked susceptible to the pace of Torres over the top.
Chelsea old boy was impressive against his former team. Throwing himself into challenges, harassing opponents though the lunge on Essien which earned him a first half booking perhaps took things a little too far.
The Fulham captain struggled to find room to manoeuvre in a crowded central midfield and his normally reliable passing range suffered as a result.
The Belgian international dropped deeper in support of Johnson and impressed in linking with his midfield but also turning to attack Chelsea defenders. Finishing was wayward, but the striker is already a crowd favourite at the Cottage and on this evidence it was clear to see why.
Another Chelsea old boy, Duff was featuring in his now familiar position on the right flank despite being left-footed and though he occasionally got past Cole down the right, his overall contribution was limited.
The pacey forward has been in decent form in recent weeks but he was well marshalled by Terry and particularly the impressive Luiz and made little impression on proceedings bar a first half effort which flew high over Cech's bar from close range.
The American is normally a major threat for Hughes' side, though he rarely looked like threatening the Chelsea goal tonight as he often found himself marooned on the left flank and unable to get into decent striking positions.
After last weekend's travails against Liverpool this was more like the Cech of old. Came and claimed every cross into the Chelsea box while also displaying his shot-stopping to palm a stinging Duff shot out. Salvaged his side a point with a stoppage time penalty save to deny Dempsey and Fulham all three points.
The Chelsea captain was never going to be popular at the home of his side's rivals but he was again very impressive as his dominant defensive display denied Fulham any chance to threaten Cech's goal.
Does he ever have a bad game? Relatively untroubled defensively, comfortable in possession and ever willing to break forward. For any other full back this would have been good but for Cole it was merely par for the course.
Came closest to scoring in the first half with a cross cum shot which Schwarzer tipped over and the right back broke forward with great zeal and though his defending was strong he occasionally overstepped the mark.
Almost blotted his copybook by conceding the late penalty but it was otherwise an eye-catching debut for the Brazilian who immediately looked right at home in a blue shirt. The £23 million man brought the ball out of defence and putting himself about in tussles with Johnson. Very composed, two-footed and fast across the ground. A great start.
Playing in the holding role, but ever eager to break forward and support his attackers. As dominant and powerful on the ground as ever though his shooting was way off tonight.
As dangerous as ever, as he showed great awareness to come close to scoring with a brilliantly improvised hooked shot, the England midfielder bossed the midfield and prompted plenty of Chelsea's good work going forward.
The Brazilian probably covered every inch of the Craven Cottage pitch as he broke forward continuously while harrying Fulham midfielders into errors. Another very promising display from one of Ancelotti's newer boys.
His failure to hit the heights of last season are a big part of Ancelotti's problems this season and despite playing reasonably well this was a far from polished display from a player capable of achieving much more.
A performance that would have made him look expensive as a £5 million player let alone a £50 million one. His early struggles prompted cries of "what a waste of money" from the home fans. Off the pace both on the ball, his first touch evaded him when sent through by Luiz at the end of the first half spoke volumes for his lack of form. Came close with a header in the second half but it was little surprise to see him substituted for Drogba midway through the second half.
The Frenchman played in a slightly deeper role behind Torres and though he linked possession well he rarely looked like troubling Schwarzer. Substituted for Kalou in the second half.
- 12 D. Stockdale
- 4 J. Paintsil
- 2 S. Kelly
- 27 J. Greening
Replaced the off-colour Murphy and the Welshman brought some energy to the home side's midfield.
Introduced for Dembele late in the second half.
Brought on late on to provide some guile in midfield and on the whole the new signing looked decent.
- 22 R. Turnbull
- 19 Paulo Ferreira
- 55 J. Sala
- 46 J. McEachran
- 12 J. Obi Mikel
Brought on for Anelka but made little impact.
Brought on for Torres midway through the second half and posed Fulham some problems with his strength. Screwed his best chance well wide when well placed.
