Was helpless for all four goals he conceded as he was let down by his defence. Tried his best to keep Dortmund at bay, but could not do so.
Static on key occasions, and very slow to intervene. Failed to convince with his positioning and lacked the pace needed to deal with Dortmund's attack.
Had a very good first half as he did well to limit the efficiency of Kuba on the flank. Was a good outlet in attack, but his level of performance rapidly dropped after the break as Freiburg were chasing the game.
Easily bypassed by BVB's vibrant attacker as he failed to make up for the flaws in Freiburg's high offside-trap. Too slow and incapable of handling Lewandowski in this game.
More often than not had to commit fouls against Kuba and Grosskreutz as he was unable to stop either of the wingers with legal measures. Was a no-show in attack, and generally struggled.
Saw a lot of the ball, but failed to create much chances for his teams. Chose the right positions and put in a lot of effort, but was undone by Dortmund in the centre of the park.
Was very active in the first half as his pace and trickery caused plenty of troubles for Dortmund early on. Showed great composure to net the equaliser, and maintained his level of performance after the break.
Showed good skill on the ball, but should take the blame for a very bad miss in the fourth minute, which cost Freiburg the opener. Made a few telling passing, including the one for Jan Rosenthal's goal.
One stunning run early on created a sublime chance for Putsila, which the 24-year-old wasted. Aside from that he offered precious little.
Looked confused at times in the middle of the park as he failed to exert his authority in defensive sense. Combined some good passes with some horrible ones, but generally orchestrated play well.
The striker was isolated for most of the game, but tried to make the best of the rare chance that came his way. Had one great chance with the result locked at 0-0, but decided to shoot on the volley with his left foot and missed the target.
Was beaten by Rosenthal for the equaliser, but generally did well. Controlled his area superbly, and made some good interventions.
Should take some blame for Rosenthal's goal as he remained static as the winger rush past him. Aside from that, the centre-half was hardly troubled at the back, and once again showed great distribution.
Did well to support Kuba down the flank, and was sound defensive sense. Made a few good runs, but could not create any major chances.
The defender did not have the best of time early on as he should be faulted for Putsila's chance in the fourth minute and for the equaliser. Improved as the game progressed, but was replaced after the break. Had minimal impact in attack.
The Brazilian put in yet another shift as he once again showed uncompromising tackling and close marking. Will be disappointed with his injury in the second half that prompted his substitution.
The former Nurnberg midfieder delivered the kind of performance that would make BVB fans' mouths water. Created the opener with an otherworldly pass, and scored the second with a simple tap-in. Sprayed the ball superbly and showed great technique.
The Germany international has come under heavy criticism of recent, but managed to respond in a brilliant fashion. Showed immense work-rate, scored a goal, and bagged an assist in an impressive performance.
The Japanese midfielder had an immense game, showing fantastic vision, slick passing and clever movement. Assisted Lewandowski's first with a great run and pass, and his moment of genius in the build-up to the Polish striker's second is worth another peek.
The Polish winger delivered an industrious performance and never stopped running for his team. His persistence was rewarded with an assist just before half time as he made a claim for a place in the starting XI.
Had a good game as he quietly made sure that Dortmund were ticking in the middle of the park. Create great platform for Gundogan to spray passes under minimal pressure.
The Polish striker once again rose to the occasion as he bagged a brace and an assist to cap off a wonderful first half of the season. Was always dangerous on the ball, and even created some good chances for his team.
- 20 M. Langerak
- 24 C. Löwe
Came on for Schmelzer and was solid in defence. Made a few good runs in attack as well, but generally kept it simple of the ball.
Substituted Santana after the Brazilian picked up an injury.
- 8 Antônio da Silva
Late replacement for Lewandowski.
- 10 Mohamed Zidan
