Difficult to judge the performance of a goalkeeper who only had a few goal kicks to knock downfield as he was left helpless for the goal. Not even stretched by a cross, the Olympique Lyonnais goalkeeper distributed the ball solidly.
A rock in the heart of the centre of the French defence, looking far more like the adept Serie A defender he has been over the course of several seasons for Roma than the shambolic figure he cut under Raymond Domenech. Was always in close proximity to his man, making a couple of important blocks.
The highly-rated Lille defender didn’t look fully comfortable in the centre of the defence, coming out too slowly on occasions, but for the most part he looked strong. Stuck closely to whichever striker was assigned to him at that time, making a couple of impressive interventions. Caught in two minds a little on the goal.
Got forward to decent effect down the left hand side of the park but ultimately couldn’t make a decisive offensive contribution to the game. When France were stretched at the back, the Arsenal man didn’t panic, holding his position well, allowing him to make a couple of important interceptions. Out-muscled too easily for the goal though.
Ever switched on, looking for a quick option, and he managed to catch out his markers on more than one occasion. Showed some wonderful moments of skill and looked like France’s most obvious goal threat on the night.
Worked his socks off in the middle of the field and looked accomplished in the heart of the France midfield. Didn't look at all out his depth despite his great inexperience. His performance was not just about energy as the Rennes man showed some excellent technique. Naive to intercept a ball on the stretch that was going to an offside player in the build-up to the goal.
Increasingly showed his power from the centre of the midfield in the second half, becoming a more pronounced figure in the middle of the period as France grew frustrated. The Arsenal man will feel he could have contributed more. Turned into danger too often and lacked end product.
Had his evening cut cruelly short due to injury after a very bright start to the game. Was bright in possession down the right hand side before going off with what appeared to be a groin problem after half an hour.
Much was expected of the Paris Saint-Germain striker, but the lanky front man for the most part failed to deliver. On his home debut for les Bleus, his touch was often sloppy, and though his height did cause some problems, he was effectively policed.
Shifted across the width of the midfield, the Roma man was direct and positive when he was in possession, showcasing a good range of passing. Was prone to the occasional sloppy moment, however.
Not as all action as his centre-back partner, but he was almost as equally effective. Showed good strength when required and though he was caught positionally at times, back-up was always there.
Caught napping early in the game when Malouda got away from him following a quick throw, but he didn’t make too many other great errors. Had difficulty at times in keeping tabs on Malouda and Menez but made a number of key challenges as he stuck to his task well. Made a superb headed clearance with 82 minutes on the clock as the Chelsea man closed in.
The star of the Belarusian side, the Birmingham midfielder has often been accused of not pulling his weight for the national side. Not always at his best in Paris, often cutting a peripheral figure in the game, but when he was in possession his class was clear as he made some incisive attacking passes. Proved a decisive factor with his late burst to the byline and a canny cut-back that led to the goal.
A no nonsense type of midfielder, he lived up to his reputation with an early foul on M’Vila that saw a yellow card flashed in his direction. Held his position well in the heart of the midfield, not offering France easy possession.
Broke into the box effectively on more than one occasion but invariably lacked composure in front of goal. Should have opened the scoring on 50 minutes when he timed his run perfectly but slashed hopelessly wide.
Looked a real danger for the visitors, both as an accomplice to his fellow forwards and as a striker in his own right. Had a couple of first half shots well blocked by Mexes and also delivered a number of dangerous balls into the box. His best moment was a positive run just after the break that resulted in a cute pass to Rodionov.
On paper the most potent threat in the visiting side, he struggled to make any impression on the French rearguard. Worked hard but was overshadowed by the two Hlebs.
- S. Mandanda
- M. Sakho

Brought on early for Remy and caused Belarus problems with his quick turning and acceleration. Had les Bleus' best effort with a fine hooked effort that was turned just over, but often lacked such a dangerous conclusion to his bursts.
- A. Diarra
A sad night for 'King Louis', who was on and then off again due to injury.
Given only a few minutes at the end but showed plenty of promise.
