Great defensive header from Osvaldo to clear the ball for Espanyol.
Sergio Aguero looks determined to win this game for Atletico and was tenacious in winning a corner for his side.
Atletico are just enjoying a period of possession outside the Espanyol box but the home defence are remaining solid for the time being.
Good pace from Raul Rodriguez to just intercept a pass that would have sent Kun Aguero through on goal.
The game is quite scrappy at the moment as both sides battle for possession in midfield.
Great play from Chica to get down the left hand wing and cut a pass in to Verdu who is unlucky with a shot that whizzed just by the right hand post.

Osvaldo looks to get on the end of another cross but it is just too high and his header goes by the left hand post.
Raul Garcia is booked after a couple of fiery challenges and Espanyol have a free kick opportunity.
Espanyol are certainly pressing well but are cheaply surrendering possession in the midfield area at the moment.
Atletico Madrid are dictating the play at the moment but Espanyol are continuing to press.
The tempo of the game has dropped just slightly in the last few minutes but a draw would result in no movement for either side in the league table.

Both teams are playing long ball tactics at the moment and it is not really working out as both defences are managing to deal with the threat.
Mario Suarez has done well to win the ball back a couple of times for Atletico, and his most recent interception resulted in an unlucky shot at goal from Diego Costa that went just by the left hand post.
Atletico Madrid should be two nil up after Aguero managed to break the offside trap and bear down on Kameni only to take too long on the ball and allow Galan to get back and make the block on his shot.

Luis Garcia looks the player most likely to make something happen for the home side, he was unlucky with a deflected shot that went just by the right hand post for a corner kick.
Both teams are trying to force through chances at the moment but it is resulting in a constant trade of possession.

Espanyol are on the ascendancy and Callejon was unlucky not to test David De Gea with a shot cutting in from the left hand side.
The resulting corner kick was headed over by Diego Godin and the Uruguayan should have done better with his attempt.
Reyes latches onto a stray pass from Ivan Alonso and powers down the right wing to earn his side a corner kick.
Good play from Diego Costa to shrug of the tackle of Verdu in the middle of midfield but the strike at goal that followed from the Brazilian was poor and wayward of the Espanyol goal.

It is Espanyol who are dictating possession at the moment, it should not be too long before a chance is created for the home side.
The goal in the first minute shocked the home side in the opening stages but they are now starting to influence the game in the Atletico half.
