Another save from Kelava, this time denying Cristiano Ronaldo who struck a left footed shot at goal but the Zagreb goalkeeper manages to palm the ball away and get up quickly after to punch the ball to safety.
Ángel Di María
Double substitution for Real Madrid as Lassana Diarra comes on for Di Maria and Gonzalo Higuain replaces Mesut Ozil.
Very Clever routine from Zagreb, Tomacek peels off to the back post and gets on the end of the Badelj free kick to attempt a volley at the far post but Sergio Ramos makes a vital interception for Real Madrid!
That Marcelo sending off may change the entire dynamic of this game. Madrid have a slim advantage and with 10 men they may look to shut up shop and soak up the pressure from the Croatians.
Marcelo sent off for Real Madrid! The Brazilian is yellow carded twice in three minutes after a late lunge and then for diving in the Zagreb box!
Yellow Card Marcelo
Brilliant play from Sammir to get to the by line and cut a cross back into a very dangerous position but Marcelo put the ball into row Z before any late runners made their way into the box.
Counter attack from Real Madrid but it breaks down when Karim Benzema takes too much time on the ball and allows Vida to make an important interception.
Last ditch defending again from Pepe! The Portuguese this time intercepting a pass through on goal to Sammir!
Yellow Card Nikola Pokrivac
Real Madrid are piling on the pressure at the moment. Zagreb are defending valiantly, but it may only be a matter of time for the away side.
Jerko Leko with another bad challenge, this time on Cristiano Ronaldo. The midfielder may be lucky to be on the park after escaping a second booking.
Shaky goalkeeping from Kelava after coming out to collect a Xabi Alonso free kick and punching the ball into a dangerous area, and taking out Sergio Ramos in the process.
Patient play from Madrid, they are definitely controlling the game at the moment.
The game should open up now. Zagreb will need to commit more men forward for an equaliser but Real Madrid will be granted more space as a result and will look to grab a goal on the counter attack.
Goal Ángel Di María
GOOOOOOOOOOOAL FOR REAL MADRID!!! A lovely goal from Madrid as Benzema receives the ball on the edge of the box and passes the all to Marcelo who in turn lays the all off for Di Maria just inside the box from the left and the Argentinian guides the all into the top left corner.
Madrid have again done well to quell the ascendancy of the home side. They have took the tempo right down and forced the hosts to work for the ball.
More of the same from Zagreb! They have came flying out of the blocks again like they did in the first half. Rukavina almost had an open shot at goal but Pepe made a good interception.
Real Madrid kick off the second half in Zagreb. Both teams will need to improve on their play in the final third if they want to create some goalscoring chances in the second period.
Half time in Croatia. Real Madrid have had the majority of the possession but the best chance of the match fell to Rukavina and Zagreb. With Jose Mourinho not allowed in the changing room, how will Aitor Karanka tactically tweak Real Madrid to get the victory? Find out if Madrid or Zagreb can grab a winner in the second half by joining us in fifteen minutes for the second half.
Fantastic counter attack from Real Madrid has Ronaldo turns sharply on the half way line and fends off tackles to play the ball to Benzema who slips a pass through on goal for Marcelo but the Brazilian is sent a tad wide and chips the ball over the bar.

Terrible tackle from Leko to take down Coentrao at full flight down the left wing. He's earned a booking for his trouble and Real Madrid have a free kick opportunity in a dangerous position.
Sammir has been impressive in the opening half for Zagreb, showing some great pace and trickery and he is certainly causing Madrid problems down the left.
The game is getting more and more stretched now, and as a result, Madrid are being awarded some more room in the final third.
What a miss from Rukavina, the striker fends off Pepe and head towards the Madrid goal but hits his shot straight at the hands of Casillas! He should have scored!
Fantastic defending and athleticism from Pepe to just intercept a pass to Kovacic that would have saw the striker bearing down on Iker Casillas.
What a double save from Kelava! Karim Benzema goes on a fantastic run from the right into the centre and lays the ball off for Ronaldo who tamely hits at goal and sees his shot saved, the ball finds its way to Ozil who side foots at goal but Kelava is up to tip the ball over the bar!
The Dinamo players are pressing the Real Madrid players with so much intensity that they are winning the ball back high up the pitch, and with the hosts playing a very high line, there is definitely room in behind the defenders to run into.
The game has been devoid of any out and out goalscoring chances so far. The final ball of both sides has just been that little bit off and they are continually breaking down attacks.

Very unlucky from Karim Benzema! The Frenchman turns neatly outside the box and unleashes a shot at goal that just clips the top of the crossbar!
Madrid are intelligently slowing the pace down of the game with short passes along the midfield. This has effectively stopped the vibrant Croatians for the time being.
Lively play from Sammir as the youngster runs at pace at the Real Madrid defence to earn his team a corner kick. It has been a terrific start to the match in Croatia.
