England 13/10 to top Group G ahead of Belgium at World Cup 2018
The Three Lions will be desperate to make the knockout stages after a poor showing in 2014, although the Red Devils will provide stiff competition

England have been installed at 13/10 (2.30) to win Group G at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The Three Lions were drawn with Belgium, Tunisia and Panama in what should be a reasonably straightforward group for both European sides, although history has proven that no World Cup game is ever easy.

dabblebet puts Belgium as slight 4/5 (1.80) favourites, with Tunisia at 14/1 (15.0) and Panama – who are competing in their first ever World Cup finals – also available at 25/1 (26.0).

Gareth Southgate’s men will be hoping to navigate the group stage relatively unscathed and win a knockout match at a major tournament for the first time since 2006, and improve their record of just six wins in their last 17 World Cup matches

Belgium, though, were not particularly convincing in the 2014 edition; despite a wealth of talent on offer, the Red Devils could only claim 1-0 wins over Russia and South Korea in the groups before needing extra time to beat the USA in the Round of 16, and all six of their goals in the tournament came after 70 minutes.

Should England make it out of the group stages, it is likely their opponents will be one of Colombia or Poland; the Europeans are 7/4 (2.75) to top Group H, whilst the South Americans are marginally shorter at 5/4 (2.25).

Elsewhere, Argentina are heavy 8/15 (1.53) favourites to win the so-called ‘Group of Death’, although Croatia at 5/2 (3.50) provides a tempting option for punters.

Russia should emerge from Group A after avoiding any potentially tricky teams in pots three or four, although facing Uruguay will give the hosts a stern test; either side can be backed at 6/5 (2.20).

Also worth considering is Group B, which sees Spain and Portugal go head-to-head in the Iberian Derby; the 2010 winners are 8/15 (1.53) to take top spot, whilst the Euro 2016 champions are 15/8 (2.88) as they also search for a first competitive win over their rivals since 2004.
