Corinthians are the Fifa Club World Champions! The Brazilians add the world championship trophy to their Copa Libertadores crown to spark wild celebrations among the thousands of travelling fans in Yokohama. Chelsea had plenty of chances to take the lead in the first half and Torres wastes a golden chance to equalise in the second. Rafa Benitez loses another club world cup final and doesn't get the chance to win his first Chelsea trophy. Next up for the Blues is a long flight back to England and a trip to Elland Road to face Leeds in the Capital One Cup.
FULL-TIME: Corinthians 1-0 Chelsea
90' + 4'
WOW! 30 seconds beyond the signalled added time Mata sneaks into the box, rounds the keeper and sees his poked effort come back off the outside of the post!
90' + 2'
CONTROVERSY! Torres wheels away after heading home Oscar's cross but his celebrations are cut short by the offside flag! Replays show it was the correct decision. The striker advanced a tad too early and despite a brave header against Cassio, Corinthians look like they will cling on.
Red CardGary Cahill
RED CARD! Gary Cahill has been sent off for a fould on Emerson. The England midfielder recieved a straight red and has his head in his arms as he walks off the pitch. Emerson, meanwhile, is still on the deck in the centre circle.
Marko Marin gets a rare outing for Chelsea after his summer switch from Werder Bremen. Hampered by injury in his first few months, this could be a big chance to make a lasting impression.
Juan Manuel Martínez
HUGE CHANCE! Torres has a guild edged chance from close range, an initial attempt is defelcted into the striker's path but he fires straight at Cassio from a matter of yards out! Should be level!
Mata slides a ball in between the Corinthians centre-backs for Torres to run on to. He gets to the byline before pivoting on to his left-side with a clever bit of skill but can't cross for Lampard. The Spaniard believes he was fouled as he beat his man.
Decent opening for Chelsea as Mata gets the move going with a cute pass into Lampard. The England international looks to pick out Oscar peeling away at the back post but his lofted pass is just under hit.
Chelsea are rushing the build-up play now that they are behind. The Blues are looking to play direct more often and it's just adding to the growing frustration because it simply isn't working.
Ashley Cole, running back towards his own goal, loses out to Alessandro who then gets the better of David Luiz. Gary Cahill has to come across and hoof the ball out of touch. Nervy stuff from the Blues!
Torres rises highest to meet Mata's cross but heads wide under pressure from Fabio Santos. Not an easy chance.
There is a carnival atmosphere inside the Nissan Stadium now that Corinthians have taken the lead. An absolute cauldron of noise!
Yellow CardDavid Luiz
The referee has been very leniant today but finally David Luiz is in the book for a clumsy challenge. Rafa Benitez introduced Oscar to the action in place of Victor Moses.
GOAL! Paolo Guerrero gives Corinthians the lead! Paulinho broke into the box and laid it off to Danilo, who beat Ivanovic with his first touch but shot at Petr Cech. Just when the attack looked over, Guerrero stole in to header home the looping ball with a couple of Chelsea players failing to keep it out on the line.
Victor Moses wastes a great chance for Chelsea. The Blues worked the ball well to get into the final third but the former Wigan man went for an ambitous effort from range when a cross into the box would have been more appropriate.
Close! Paolo Guerrero holds it up well before laying it off for Paulinho, who took one touch to set himself and fired the ball at goal with his second. It was a vicious strike which flew only a yard wide of Cech's left-hand post. Corinthians just seem to be gaining the upper hand in this final.
Corinthians are on the front foot and are being encouraged by their travelling supporters. Chelsea are now playing on the counterattack.
Corinthians build some pressure with a couple of corners in quick succession but the delivery is poor and Petr Cech's goal isn't threatened.
Ivanovic picks out Torres wonderfully inside the box and the Chelsea striker controls well but can't quite work the space for a shot. He keps the attack alive before play is brought back after Moses climbs on a Corinthians defender as he tries to meet Mata's cross.
Yellow CardJorge Henrique
Hazard players a cute pass in behind the Corinthians defence to release Fernando Torres but the Spaniard looks up to see the linesman call for offside.
Chance! Eden Hazard races away down the left flank and makes his way into the box before trying to lift the ball over Cassio. The Corinthians keeper is off his line quick and makes himself big to keep the Belgian out.
Cole gets to the byline and cuts the ball back for Juan Mata, who then tries to pick out Torres in the box. Corinthians clear the ball as far as Frank Lampard, but the England midfielder's shot is charged down at the edge of the area.
David Luiz goes in with a couple of strong challenges early on in the second half. The Corinthians players are making a meal of most of them though. Scrappy start to the second period.
Corinthians take the kick-off and we are underway for the second half!
Corinthians have had more of the ball in the opposition half and have come close on a couple of occasions, but it's Chelsea who have carved open more clear goal scoring chances. Neither side have been able to find the finishing touch so far, although the Brazilians have Cassio to thank for keeping them level with some fine goalkeeping.
HALF-TIME: Chelsea 0-0 Corinthians
One minute to additional time at the end of the half.
Ivanovic has stayed down after an aerial challenge with Fabio Santos. The Serbian looks okay to continue though.
Corner for Corinthians is taken by Jorge Enrique but it's played with too much power. Emerson then makes a clumsy challenge inside the Chelsea area to needlessly give the Blues a reprieve.
Lovely strike from Juan Mata, who fires a volley from a Chelsea free kick as Cassio. The shot is more central than Mata would have liked, allowing the keeper to make a decent save.
What a save! Cassio out does himself again! Chelsea break down the pitch with Mata, who switches the play nicely for Victor Moses. The former Wigan man cuts back on to his right foot and tries to curl one into the top corner. It was a great effort and an even better save from the Corinthians shot-stopper.
Chance! Lampard sprays a long ball in towards Fernando Torres and the Spaniard brings the ball down beautifully but can't quite get the purchase required on his shot. Great pass, great touch, just lacked the finish.
CLOSE! How have Corinthians not scored? Guerrero turns inside the box and has a couple of shots at goal. His first is blocked by Cahill and is second trickles across the face of the goal. Emerson keeps it alive at the back post but sees his shot go out off the outside of the post. The Brazilians should be ahead!
Brilliant pass from Eden Hazard! The Belgian's diagonal pass leaves the left-back for dead and finds Victor Moses in the box. The Nigerian can't quite sort his feet out and eventually sees the ball go out for a goal kick.
Lampard looks for Torres with an early free kick and the Spaniard manages to stay onside buy stumbles as he tries to reach the lofted pass. Good idea from the Blues.
Chance! Gary Cahill is a relieved man after he tried to control the ball outside his own area allowing Emerson to pounce on him. The Brazilian though wastefully fires his shot high and wide, much to the frustration of his manager.
Neat combination between Cole and Hazard down the left flank. The England left-back exchanges passes with the Belgian before crossing towards Fernando Torres in the box but the striker is flagged offside.
Penalty shout! Corinthians have a claim for a spot kick as Guerrero tangles with Gary Cahill inside the box. The referee is having none of it though and waves play on, much to the Chelsea's relief.
Chelsea work their way forward and the chance eventually comes to Victor Moses on the right-hand side. He squares up against the Corinthians right-back but fires his shot in too early allowing the defender to make the block.
Tame. David Luiz lines up to take the free kick against his boyhood club, but he miscues horribly and just fires the ball into the bottom of the wall.
Great play. Eden Hazard earns a free kick in a very dangerous position. Mata feeds the Belgian in a central position and the forward's first touch just evades the defender who is forced to concede the foul.
Paulinho is the latest to try his luck from range. The Brazilian was leaning back and the shot was always going to go over. This is encouraging stuff from the Brazilians.
Jorge Enrique has a go from distance which takes a deflection, helping Petr Cech to catch it comfortably. Corinthians are now beginning to make more of an impression in the match.
Moses rides a couple of heavy challenges and does well to emerge with the ball. Chelsea enjoy a good spell on the ball before Juan Mata gives the ball away to Emerson. The Corinthians forward breaks forward but is well marshalled by David Luiz.
Corinthians are pushing up and playing a high defensive line. That should be music to ears of Rafa Benitez, Fernando Torres will be looking to get in behind the opponents backline.
Almost a first port of call for goal-line technology. Cahill's effort was stopped by Cassio just about on the right side of the goal-line.
CLOSE! What a fantastic save from Cassio! Moses' shot earns a corner of the Corinthians keeper and from the resulting delivery, Gary Cahill has a golden chance to fire home from close range but his effort is saved remarkably from point blank range by Cassio. Best chance of the game so far.
A good flick from Fernando Torres finds Moses on the right flank, the midfielder's cross almost finds Hazard but Corinthians do well to clear the danger.
The Blues look to counter following a Corinthians attack but Alessandro brings down David Luiz just as the centre-back broke forward.
Chance! Paulinho, the midfielder linked with Chelsea, bursts into the box but Ramires does well to snuff out the threat. Moments later, Eden Hazard has to intervene to prevent the Brazilian from having a go from 15 yards out.
Ivanovic concedes a free kick on the touchline for bundling over Danilo. Benitez has his side set up to press high up the pitch, not giving the Brazilians any time on the ball.
Bright start from Chelsea. Eden Hazard combines with Juan Mata early on down the left-hand side but Corinthians defend the danger comfortably.
Chelsea take the kick-off and we are underway!
Chelsea fans are well outnumbered here in Japan. The Corinthians' supporters are definitely taking this competition seriously, they have travelled in their thousands.
The players have emerged from the tunnel and the atmosphere inside the Nissan Stadium is slowly building. Only moments away from the big kick-off here in Yokohama!
Seven months after being crowned champions of Europe, Chelsea are 90 minutes away from earning the right to call themselves, technically at least, the best club side in the world. Although, Corinthians are not to be taken lightly. The Brazilians are seeking to become the first side other than the mighty Barcelona to win this competition for a second time.
One change for Corinthians from their semi-final, Jorge Enrique replaces Douglas in midfield. Paolo Guerrero once again leads the line for the Brazilians with reported Chelsea target Paulinho continuing in central midfield.
Rafa Benitez makes three changes to the side that swept past Monterrey on Thursday. Frank Lampard returns to the Chelsea starting line-up as David Luiz drops back into defence. Branislav Ivanovic and Victor Moses also come in, in place of Cesar Azpilicueta and Oscar.
