Hardly had a thing to do in the whole of the first half but when called upon midway through the second he produced a quality save to deny Caruzzo. A far more comfortable night than he would have expected.
Picked up an early booking for needlessly making Mouche overly aware of his presence. Walked a tightrope for the rest of the game but was not intimidated by the physical Silva and helped keep him out of the match.
Captain for the night, he pushed forward from right-back regularly to create triangles with the central players. He was also immoveable defensively and completely closed out his side of the pitch.
Moved across to provide cover for Fabio Santos and double up to cancel out the pace of Mouche. Alongside Chicao they closed all the gaps in the channels and made it extremely difficult for the Argentines to find a way through.
Marauded forward at will, occasionally drifting inside and looking to break through the defensive line. However, he did not allow himself to be caught out by Mouche in what was an impressive display.
A typically strong performance from the defensive-midfielder. He tried to stick close to Riquelme and restrict his influence over the game and the Argentine's chances to craft anything dangerous were limited which signalled a good night's work.
Provided an outlet almost anywhere on the pitch but he did not get into the most dangerous areas. Many of his passes were either horizontal or backwards until an inspired flick put Emerson in to open the scoring.
The heartbeat of this Corinthians side. He began the transition from defence to attack all night with driving runs to carry the ball up field. His passing let him down at times though.
Drifted across the park and made himself regularly available to his team-mates. He struggled to find his shooting range during the first half. His delivery lead to the game's opening goal.
Put in a great cross early in the first half but Emerson failed to make the most of it. He frequently offered width on the right but his impact on the game was fairly minimal as he failed to make the most of the space behind Rodriguez.
Made one shaky clearance but then picked up an injury and was forced to leave the field with just over 30 minutes played.
Very strong in the air and provided an immense physical presence on the deck too. The veteran defender made a number of underhand, dirty tackles and gave the ball straight to Emerson to tuck in the game's second goal.
Got caught out of position too often as he tried to add width higher up the pitch. He was fortunate that Jorge Henrique was unable to make any more of it but as he became more reserved, Corinthians controlled the middle.
Skinned by Emerson far to easily in the 16th minute but the striker was unable to make the most of the opportunity. He soon atoned with some excellent interceptions. Saw his 72nd minute header saved excellently by Cassio.
Kept the game moving when his side had possession but he did not support the strikers as Corinthians kept the visitors under large spates of pressure. Substituted 25 minutes before full time.
Contributed far too little to his team for a usually effective performer. He struggled to get near the ball and was somewhat anonymous in midfield throughout the 90 minutes.
Tried to get on the ball as much as he could in the early stages but was tracked closely by Ralf. He did his best to thread a few passes up to Silva and Mouche but clear-cut chances remained elusive for his side.
Looked extremely competent in the early stages with a number of crisp passes as he always looked to probe forwards. However, he afforded Alex too much freedom in the middle of the park.
Played the majority of the game further to the right wing as he tried to exploit space behind the full-back with his pace. It did not work and he failed to either forge, or get on the end of, any chances for his team.
Struggled to get involved in the game throughout the first half and after a bright start to the second, he soon went quiet as Corinthians took the lead. A hugely disappointing display from the powerful striker.
