And that concludes this evening's game. Thank you for joining us for Goal.com's live play by play commentary of Club Brugge vs Newcastle United. See you at the weekend!
The point gained for Brugge tonight leaves them with a chance of qualifying for the next round too.
A thrilling first half of football was unfortunately not matched in the second half. The game finishes 2-2 and a draw is probably a fair result. Alan Pardew might feel that Newcastle should have won the game tonight, but the Magpies are still in a great position to qualify as group leaders.
90' + 2'
And the whistle goes. Game over here in Belgium. Newcastle manager Alan Pardew might be disappointed his side haven't managed to win the game tonight, but they're still in a good position at the top of Group D.
90' + 2'
Short corner for Newcastle, the cross comes in but is straight into the arms of the goalkeeper.
90' + 1'
Corner for Newcastle. Big moment for the Magpies here. Cabaye takes it, looking for Steven Taylor but the ball is cleared. The threat isn't over however, the ball is played back into the box towards Obertan who wins another corner.
We're entering the 90th minute here with both sides still looking for that winning goal. There will be two minutes of added time.
Yellow CardYohan Cabaye
Free kick to Brugge following a foul by Cabaye who sees yellow for his challenge. The ball is drilled in but Lestienne is unable to hit the target with his attempted half volley.
Brugge appeal for a penalty as Bacca falls in the box. The referee waves play on to a chorus of boos from the Brugge faithful.
Newcastle corner, pressing for their first away win of the season. Marveaux with a dangerous looking corner that the Magpies should have done better with. The ball is cleared by Brugge.
Substitution for Newcastle as Sammy Ameobi is replaced by Amalfitano.
Substitution for Brugge. Odjidja is replaced by Lagrou.
Sammy Ameobi almost carves himself a chance with a great piece of skill in the box. Just as he strikes with his left foot the ball is blocked. Good defending from Brugge there.
Odjidja again with a strike. The midfielder sets himself up with an ambitious half volley from long range. It fails to trouble Krul, however, and the ball goes out for a goal kick.
Another good save by Krul. Odjidja this time with the effort that is powerfully struck from the edge of the area. The Newcastle keeper reacts well though and tips it wide of the goal. Either side could win this, with Brugge looking the more likely at the moment.
And the game springs back to life! Brugge break and the ball is played into Tchite whose header is straight at goalkeeper Tim Krul. The Netherlands stopper tips the ball over the bar for a corner.
Yellow CardCarl Hoefkens
And Cabaye hits the bar from his first touch! Free kick from the left wing is whipped in by the French midfielder. There's a bit too much power on it however, and it evades all Newcastle players but almost creeps in past the keeper who stood motionless. It hits the bar and is cleared.
Substitution for Newcastle here and manager Alan Pardew is changing things up. Bigirimama is replaced by Cabaye.
Tchite is able to stretch his legs on the left wing. The Belgian winger shows his pace with a deliberate heavy touch which he runs onto. His cross finds nobody in the box. And as Brugge attempt to play it back to him, he's caught offside.
Neither side really able to keep possession here. Newcastle's tempo has dropped and they're allowing Brugge more time and space on the ball.
Brugge attacking down the right wing again. Cross comes in from Lestienne for Bacca who heads over from close range. Brugge once again look threatening on the break.
Krul makes a very important save. A throw-in from the right causes the Newcastle defence all sorts of problems and Bacca forces the save from Krul. The Magpies defence really ought to be dealing with efforts like that, especially given their height.
Substitution being made for Newcastle. Steven Taylor is replacing Mike Williamson here. Looks like it might be an injury to the centre-back.
Good effort from Marveaux for Newcastle. He manages to get his way into the box and cuts onto his left foot. His curling shot is too high, however, and it goes over the bar. It is all Newcastle at the moment.
Brugge with a chance. Tchite down the right hand-side running at Tavernier. The Belgian takes a shot but it's all too comfortable for Krul.
Shola Ameobi capitalises on a mistake by the Brugge defence. His curling shot from the edge of the area is well saved by the goalkeeper and the ball ends up going out for a Newcastle corner, but nothing comes of it.
Newcastle corner this time and a good chance goes begging. Shola Ameobi meets the cross perfectly with a free header but it's straight over the bar. He should have done much better with that chance.
Better delivery this time from the corner but the resulting header is powered over the bar and it's a goal kick to Newcastle.
Corner to Brugge following some good work down the right side. The corner is swung in, but the delivery isn't great and it goes out for another corner.
Yellow CardMichael Almebäck
Free kick in a dangerous position for Newcaslte. Tavernier is deemd to have been fouled by Almeback on the left flank. The free kick is taken by Marveaux and floated into the box. But it is easily cleared by Brugge.
Newcastle kick off the second half and there has been a change here. Mohamed Tchite is on for Brugge, replacing goalscorer Ivan Trickovski
What a fantastic 45 minutes of football that was. A poor start from Newcastle, gifting Brugge a two-goal lead. But the Magpies ended the first half brilliantly with two goals in the space of two minutes. It makes for an intriguing second half in Belgium.
And the half time whistle goes. What a first half in Belgium!
Goal for Newcastle. And it's the Ameobi brothers combining once again. Great pass from Sammy and he plays in Shola who strikes the ball with the outside of his right foot. The keeper goes down too early and it cannons off his leg and into the back of the net.
Goal for Newcastle. Vurnon Anita finally gets Newcastle on the scoresheet. A great cross from Marveaux on the left flank is poorly cleared by the Brugge defence and Anita catches it superbly on the volley. The ball flies into the back of the net past the keeper. Fantastic technqiue from the Netherlands man.
Yellow CardCheikh Tiote
Yellow card for Tiote as the Newcastle midfield makes a silly challenge on Trickovsky. The Ivorian will now miss the next game for the Magpies.
Fantastic turn by Shola Ameobi in the box but his angle is tight and he can only manage to drill it across the face of the goal where no Newcastle players are there. Another chance goes begging.
Newcastle are still dominating possession and have created a few clear cut chances that you would expect them to have put away by now. There are definitely goals in this game for the Magpies.
The Ameobi brothers combine well on the right side and Shola's header is tipped over the bar by the goalkepeer. The resulting corner is floated in but Williamson's header from the penalty spot is cleared.
A good cross from Anita on the right wing finds Ameobi who controls it well but is adjudged to have used his arm. Free kick to Brugge and the chance is gone.
Marveaux with the chance after good work by Obertan down the left-hand side. The French winger rolls it accros for the incoming Marveaux who misses his kick and the chance goes begging.
Brugge are enjoying themselves here and look very dangerous on the break. Newcastle look shell-shocked as Krul is forced into making another save, again coming from the left-hand side of the pitch.
GOAL FOR BRUGGE. Calamitous goal for Newcastle to conceded. A cross from the right hand side was headed straight out of defence by left-back Tavernier to Jorgensen on the edge of the box whose strike somehow manages to escape Krul's flailing right arm. It's a fantastic start for Brugge here!
GOAL FOR BRUGGE. Deja vu for Fabricio Coloccini as the Argentine is once again duped by a long ball over the top. Club Brugge have been threatening to make space in behind the Newcastle defence, and it is Trickovski that eventually capitalises. The wideman controls well to skip past Coloccini before slotting the ball home to open the scoring.
Another chance for Obertan on the left hand side, but the goalkeeper makes a great save and the ball is eventually swept up by the goalkeeper. He should have scored.
Majority of the possession is in the middle of the park so far with only a handful of chances being created. Newcastle seem content to just keep the bal.
Neither side managing to get a foothold in the game with a couple of chances for both teams. Nothing to cause either goalkeeper major concern yet though.
It's been a scrappy start but Obertan had the chance to take the lead for Newcastle after he cut in on the left hand side but his right-footed shot went well wide of the Brugge goal. Encouraging though!
And we're underway. Brugge kick off with Newcastle in their changed strip of what appears to be flourescent yellow!
Newcastle have yet to concede so far in the Europa League and with a win in Belgium tonight will qualify for the next round with two games to spare.
Brugge team: Jorgacevic; Hogli, Hoefkens, Almeback, Jordi; Lestienne, Donk, Odjidja, Trickovski; Jorgensen; Bacca.
Newcastle team: Krul; Anita, Williamson, Coloccini, Tavernier; Bigirimana, Tiote; Obertan, Marveaux, Sa Ameobi; Sh Ameobi.
