AND IT IS OVER! Milan claim a hard-fought victory. Robinho opened the scoring through a fine finish from inside the box, but Gelson Fernandes equalised after the break. Milan were made to bite their nails till the 82nd minute when Pato scored the winner after coming off the bench. It was a very exciting game and I hope you have enjoyed it at least as much as me. It is good night from me, Vasil Kotsev. Ibrahimovic! The striker was left on his own in the penalty box, tried to dribbled past Morero, tip-toed the ball to the right to free some space to shoot, and let it fly, but the ball got deflected by Frey's legs.
Robinho! Oh, how come? Pato went on a fabulous run, drawing two defenders near the penalty area semi-circle before sliding in a precise through-ball for Robinho, who did well to control the ball, tried to round Sorrentino, but the goalkeeper managed to recover and claim the ball near the byline on the right side of the penalty area.
Turns out Pato was the ace in the pack today. Still, there is still time left for Chievo to equalise or Milan to add another goal to their tally.
Gattuso!? The midfielder goes on a run through the centre of Chievo's defence, but blasts his finish narrowly over the bar. The ball took a deflection of a Chievo defender before going out. Corner kick on the right for the visitors.
Yellow/Red Bostjan Cesar
CESAR IS OFF! The defender leaves his team-mates with numerical disadvantage after handballing on the right, just outside Chievo's penalty area.
Assist G. Gattuso
Yellow Card Alexandre Pato
Goal Alexandre Pato
GOAL! Pato scores! The striker went past three defenders on his way to the left side of the box, from where he finished low in the near corner. The ball rebounded off the left post before crawling into the net. Marvellous goal! Milan in the lead!
Morero is brought down by Kevin-Prince Boaten. We have not seen much of the Ghanain since he came on.
Abate! The right-back is released on the right side of the box, crosses from the byline at full stretch, but Sorrentino claims the ball.
Ibrahimovic tries to make his way through a congested Chievo defence on the left side of the box, but is dispossessed.
Milan are now throwing bodies forward. Will Ibrahimovic pop up with the winner like he always does?
Robinho! The striker put the finishing touch after being picked out by Abate from the right wing at the near post, but Sorrentino blocked his tap-in.
Kevin-Prince Boateng replaces Merkel, Massimiliano Allegri is going for a more offensive formation now.
The game has become rather scrappy with way too much fouls in the centre of the pitch. If Milan are to maintain their Serie A title bid, they have to pick up their game and take the three points in the end.
Pato! The striker was picked out near the centre-circle from a free-kick for a foul on Gattuso by Mariano Bogliacino, turned and volleyed, but his finish flew wide of the right post.
Yellow Card Luca Rigoni
Horrible challenge by Rigoni on Merkel and the Italian receives a yellow card. The camera zoomed on Van Bommel and believe you me, the look in his eyes was no indication of his Marry Poppins nature.
The inefficient Antonio Cassano makes way for the sheer pace of Alexandre Pato. Can the Brazilian turn out to be the ace in the pack?
It seemed like Milan will cruise to a narrow victory, having in mind their destructive power in the form of Mark Van Bommel, Gennaro Gattuso and Alexander Merkel, but Kevin Constant and Gelson Fernandes have turned the game upside down.
Assist Kevin Constant
Goal Gelson Fernandes
GOAL! FERNANDES DRAWS THE GAME LEVEL! Wonderful by Chievo! Kevin Constant was released down the left and whipped in a superb cross for the unmarked Gelson Fernandes, who headed past Abbiati from close range. Where was Alexander Merkel, and more importantly, Massimo Oddo?
Well, the tempo has certainly dropped in the last ten minutes or so, but it looks like Chievo are ready to go for it in the remaining time to the final whistle.
Abate goes out for treatment on the sidelines after picking up a knock on his right foot.
The surprising change for Milan at half-time, Massimo Oddo whips in a cross from a free-kick on the left, but Ibrahimovic is there to clear the danger.
What a stike by Ibrahimovic. The power was there, and the placement, but Sorrentino managed to parry it away. Superb shot and a superb save.
Yellow Card Santiago Morero
Ibrahimovic with a free-kick just outside the box...
Cassano is dispossessed by Constant with a sliding challenge in the box and the ball goes out for a corner kick on the right.
Chievo are attacking now, but Thereau loses the ball on the left flank. Mariano Bogliacino replaced Nico Pulzetti at half-time.
The second half begins ...
45' + 2'
The referee blows the half-time whistle. Both teams have had their chance, but only Milan have managed to capitalise on them. Robinho opened the scoring after a combination involving him, Ibrahimovic and Antonio Cassano, and Chievo could have equalised through Pellissier on the stroke of half-time. Join us after the break for the second half of this exciting game.
45' + 1'
There will be two minutes of injury time...
Pellissier! Oh, what a miss! He can not believe that this did not go in! The striker pounced on a mistake by Nesta, and managed to free himself from the ex-Lazio man ten yards from goal. He went for the upper right corner, but the ball floated over the bar. He demands a penalty for a shirt pull by Alessando Nesta, but the referee is having none of it.
Nesta! Oh! What a miss by the veteran! The defender was allowed to run behind Nicolas Frey, but could not keep his finish at the near post low enough. Admittedly, he was offside, albeit marginally.
Robinho's feet are too fast for Cesar and the defender brings down the ex-Real Madrid man with a cynical foul. He could have received a yellow card here.
Gattuso brings down Constant and Chievo have a free-kick in an identical position to the previous one, but on the reverse flank ... Same poor delivery, though ...
Poor delivery as the ball sails in Abbiati's hands ... that was a great chance for Chievo.
Merkel brings down Pellissier on the right, just outside of the penalty area. An interesting situation.
In the early game in Serie A today, Juventus fell apart against relegation strugglers Lecce. Dark times ahead for Serie A.
Pulzetti double checks whether his teeth are all there after he was allegedly elbowed in the centre of the pitch. The sight of Gattusso skipping next to Van Bommel can make even Chuck Norris run for the hills.
The game has really come into life after a lethargic start. We might be in for a threat after all?
Fernandes! So close for Chievo! The Switzerland internatiol found himself on the end of a peculiar cross from the left wing, and saw his diving finish blocked.
Ibrahimovic! The striker received the ball outside the box, took a few steps and let it fly, but Sorrentino was there to parry the ex-Barcelona man's thunderous shot.
Assist Zlatan Ibrahimovic
GOAL! Robinho opens the scoring! Antonio Cassano collected the ball on the right side of the penalty area and crossed high for Ibrahimovic on the left side of the six-yard box. The Sweden international headed down to Robinho, the Brazilian shielded the ball, turned and finished clumsily into the right corner.
Cassano is on the ground after yet another tussle with Cesar. There will probably be some bad blood between those two after the game.
Imbrahimovic does well to hold off Morero and flicks the ball delightfully over the defence and in the path of Robihno, but it is a little overhit and Stefano Sorrentino collects the pass.
Half chance for Milan as Gattuso deflects a through-ball by Cassano in the path of Robinho who tries to go past Cesar, fails, and then sends his finish in the side-netting.
Aside from Robinho's chance earlier, Milan have failed to create anything of note upfront, something that was there for all to see against Tottenham in the Champions League as well.
Yellow Card Bostjan Cesar
First yellow card of the game and it goes to Bostjan Cesar on Anotnio Cassano. The forward is up on his feet after an award-winning fake crying on the pitch.
What an intervention from Mantovani! Robinho was released near the penalty spot, but the defender somehow managed to clear the ball off the Brazilian's left foot just as he was about to shoot.
Thereau is on the ground after a precise, but well covered, vicious tackle by Mark Van Bommel. No card shown for this challenge from behind.
Pellissier! The striker was released by Thereau on the left side of the box and let it fly first time, but his finish could not find the target - best chance of the game so far.
Nicolas Frey blasts a cross from the right flank over the bar after being fed the ball by Gelson Fernandes.
Nico Puzetti muscles Gennaro Gattuso off the ball in the centre of the pitch, much to the dislike of the Milan man. Gattuso had a night to remember against Tottenham in midweek as he was in the limelights for all the wrong reasons as he headbutted Joe Jordan after the final whistle and had to apologise after the game.
The ex-Toulouse man's delivery is too high and the ball goes out for a goal kick.
The Flying Donkeys win a free-kick on the left .. Kevin Constant is about to take it ...
The game starts ...
