Thanks for following Goal's LIVE coverage with me Tom Etherington (@tom_etherington) and for getting involved on Twitter. Goodnight.
The hosts probably deserved the win in the end and will be full of confidence for their trip to Premier League champions Manchester United on Monday.
It's all over. Chelsea have another three points and Mourinho has a second win under his belt. That very late penalty appeal from Villa will be a huge talking point as the visitors could have been given the chance to net an equaliser.
90' + 7'
Yellow Card Bradley Guzan
90' + 5'
FULL TIME. Chelsea 2-1 Aston Villa. Guzan has been booked after the whistle as he continues to protest about the penalty.
90' + 3'
HANDBALL? Villa appeal for a penalty after John Terry's high arm catches the ball in the box. He seemed to be fouled by Agbonlahor though. Lambert is jumping on the sidelines.
90' + 2'
Villa have not given up just yet. Still battling and pushing Chelsea back towards their box.
There's still hope for the visitors with at least five minutes of added time to be played.
Lampard twists and turns in the Villa box to set up Hazard, but he blasts his effort high and wide. That was a waste.
SAVE! Benteke knocks the ball down for Weimann, who fires a powerful half-volley at Cech from close range, but the goalkeeper manages to save with his feet.
Chelsea really need to concentrate here. Benteke showed at the end of the first half what he can do when given the chance.
Marco van Ginkel
Aleksandar Tonev comes on for his Villa debut, before Oscar is replaced by Van Ginkel for Chelsea.
Karim El Ahmadi
Into the final ten minutes at Stamford Bridge. Can Villa find a late equaliser?
Schurrle on the counter-attack for Chelsea and he eventually plays it across to Ivanovic but his shot is blocked.
CHANCE! Lukaku picks up the ball from Hazard and turns his man. But the striker, who was on loan at West Brom last season, blasts his effort into the side netting.
Yellow Card C. Benteke
He has just clashed with Benteke again - the referee is giving him a final warning. Benteke is booked for his part.
What do you think? Should Ivanovic have been on the pitch to score that goal? Twitter - @tom_etherington.
That's Ivanovic's fourth goal in his last three starts against Villa. He was forunate to be on the pitch after that elbow on Benteke though.
Assist Frank Lampard
Goal Branislav Ivanovic
GOAL! Chelsea 2-1 Aston Villa. Ivanovic jumps the highest in the box to head home a free kick from Lampard on the right. Great delivery and great header.
Yellow Card Ashley Westwood
Yellow Card Branislav Ivanovic
Ivanovic causes a scuffle after an elbow on Benteke. Mourinho and Lambert exchanging words on the sideline.
Chelsea are starting to regain control of proceedings. I think Lukaku or Schurrle will make the difference here.
Ramires goes for goal from the edge of the Villa box but blasts high over the crossbar.
It's a double substitution from Mourinho as Juan Mata and Demba Ba make way for Andre Schurrle and Romelu Lukaku.
Yellow Card Karim El Ahmadi
El Ahmadi brings down Mata. Chelsea going to make a change...
CHANCE! Another opportunity for Villa as Benteke finds Weimann witha great cross and the forward forces a superb stop from Cech. The resulting corner is cleared.
CHANCE! Villa respond as Lowton breaks from midfield to find Agbonlahor on the edge of the penalty area and the striker hits a first time effort, which just misses the top corner.
CHANCE! Hazard snatches at the ball on the half volley, after Mata found him in the box, and he ends up clipping his shot well wide of goal.
Westwood drills a free kick into the heart of the Chelsea area, but Cech comes off his line to gather.
Ramires with a late challenge on Delph, but he escapes a yellow card.
Meanwhile, Villa have confirmed that Ciaran Clark needed five stitches in the head wound that forced him off just before half time. Ouch.
Chelsea fans will be pleased to know that De Bruyne, Schurrle and Lukaku have started warming up on the sidelines.
Lots of you on Twitter hoping to see Mourinho make a change soon. @ShaTheGuru "Chelsea need Lukaku on, he will change the game for sure." @meka4real "No penetration from Chelsea and lack of width. De Bruyne or Schurrle will make a lot of difference."
Mata gets the ball wide on the left, but his cross is overhit into the Matthew Harding Stand. Poor delivery.
Ba has not had the best of nights. The striker gets himself ahead of Okore in the area but Oscar's cross doesn't reach him.
Ba manages to keep himself onside but Vlaar makes a timely challenge to win the ball just as he's about to pull the trigger.
Villa go on the attack early, with Lowton looking to catch Chelsea out with a cross into the box. The home side counter, but Villa get the ball back when Ba is caught offside yet again.
Villa kick off the second half.
Twitter: @eddiebeds "Chelsea should've been more clinical. I'd play @Andre_Schuerrle."
@djdeafearz "Chelsea are not playing that well...hopefully we'll get to see more of their ruthlessness in the second 45"
Chelsea dominated the first half after that early goal but are now back to square one. Did Villa deserve that? What did you make of the first 45 minutes? Let me know on Twitter via @tom_etherington.
So the sides are level at the break after Benteke's clinical finish on the stroke of half time. Chelsea had really limited his chances throughout the half but the striker needed just one sight of goal. Great control and finish too.
45' + 3'
Assist Gabriel Agbonlahor
45' + 3'
Goal C. Benteke
GOAL! Chelsea 1-1 Aston Villa. Benteke scores just before half time! Where did that come from!? Brilliant run and cross from the left by Agbonlahor and the Belgian striker squeezes the ball past Terry and Cech.
45' + 3'
The referee blows for half time.
45' + 2'
Ba does well to turn Okore and his effort is on target but it has no power behind it, providing Guzan with an easy stop.
45' + 1'
Lampard sends a free kick into the Villa box but Guzan comes off his line to claim the ball with ease.
45' + 1'
We are into three minutes of added time on to this first half.
Agbonlahor breaks from midfield, finding Delph in the box, but the midfielder can't get control of the ball.
Jores Okore comes on for his Aston Villa debut, replacing the injured Clark.
Clark is down with a head injury after making a sliding challenge on Ba. The defender will need treatment off the pitch to stop the bleeding.
Benteke wins the ball for Villa and looks for Agbonlahor, who is waiting in the box, but Cole manages to block his pass.
Oscar manages to escape the attention of Luna to cut inside, but he sends another shot wide of the goal.
Villa are starting to get a foot-hold in the match now. But Ramires drops back to break up Lowton's run down the right as he looks to threaten.
Ramires tries to find compatriot Oscar with a long pass towards the left flank but the ball goes out for a throw in.
Chelsea struggling to find a way through Villa despite enjoying 70 per cent of possession.
Ivanovic tries to find Ba with a deep cross from the right and almost picks the striker out as Vlaar and Guzan fail to claim the ball.
Delph makes a brilliant run from inside his own half, beating Lampard and Ramires, but can't pick out the pass looking for Agbonlahor.
The Blues' all-time top scorer does go for goal but he gets it wrong and his effort goes high over the bar and into the crowd.
El Ahmadi brings down Hazard in the middle of the pitch. Lampard stands over the free kick around 35 yards out. Will he go for goal after his superb set piece against Hull?
Villa have settled now and are starting to cause problems of their own. Benteke wins the ball in midfield and El Ahmadi fires a speculative long-range effort towards goal, but Cech watches it go wide.
The Spain international is guilty of a late tackle on Clark. Free kick to Villa.
Villa look to break from a quick free kick down the left and Luna manages to pick out Weimann in the box. But Chelsea clear the danger and Hazard sends a long ball towards Mata.
Oscar finds space on the edge of the area and opts to shoot but loses his footing and the ball goes high and wide.
Some good link-up play between Mata and Hazard near the Villa box but the visitors manage to clear the danger.
El Ahmadi bears down on the Chelsea penalty area, but is penalised for a high challenge on Gary Cahill. Ba looks to break at the other end of the pitch but he is caught offside.
The visitors have hardly touched the ball since that early goal. Mourinho's side happy to just pass the ball around patiently.
Terry smuggles the ball back to Cech before Clark wallops clear under pressure from Ba at the other end.
Oscar tries his luck from range but drags his shot well wide of the target. The Brazilian midfielder had limited options there.
So, similar to the weekend, Chelsea have taken an early lead and Luna has found the net. Unfortunately for Villa it was the wrong one.
Own Goal Luna
GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Aston Villa. Eden Hazard makes the hosts' pressure pay as his curled effort is saved by Brad Guzan but the rebound deflects off Luna and rolls into the net.
Hazard and Ba combine down the left flank to get in behind Villa's backline. The hosts are applying some early pressure here...
Chelsea have won each of their last three Premier League clashes with Villa, scoring 14 goals. They are being patient here early on.
Lampard tries to play in Ba with a high pass straight from the off, but Luna gets the ball out.
Referee Kevin Friend blows his whistle and Chelsea get the game underway...
@mesuthazard is also backing the Blues for three points: "We are different class to Arsenal." Time to find out...
The teams are out on the pitch ahead of kick off and are going through their pre-match routines...
@Daniofordz on Twitter thinks it will be a 3-1 win to Chelsea tonight. Does anyone think Villa can win here?
Chelsea were unstoppable during the first half against Hull and a similar performance tonight should see them claim another three points. But Villa also impressed at the weekend and I think the team is much stronger than last season. I'm going for Chelsea 2-1 Villa. Let me know what you think on Twitter via @tom_etherington and Tweet me your thoughts throughout the game.
We're less than 15 minutes from kick-off now so time for a prediction...
So that's two changes from Mourinho, with Juan Mata and Demba Ba replacing Kevin de Bruyne and Fernando Torres. Meanwhile, Lambert has made just one change to the side that beat the Gunners, with Ciaran Clark filling in for the injured Nathan Baker.
ASTON VILLA SUBS: Steer, Bennett, Okore, Bacuna, Helenius, Sylla, Tonev.
ASTON VILLA XI: Guzan; Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Luna; El Ahmadi, Westwood, Delph; Agbonlahor, Benteke, Weimann.
CHELSEA SUBS: Schwarzer, Azpilicueta, Mikel, Van Ginkel, De Bruyne, Schurrle, Lukaku.
CHELSEA XI: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole; Ramires, Lampard; Mata, Oscar, Hazard; Ba.
The teams are in so let's take a look at those starting line-ups...
But Villa travel to the team where they suffered their heaviest defeat of the 2012-13 season - an 8-0 drubbing last December. And more goals could be on the cards for Chelsea this evening as the visitors have not recorded a cleansheet at Stamford Bridge since 1998.
Jose Mourinho got his second spell with the Blues off to a winning start after Frank Lampard and Oscar scored in a convincing 2-0 win over Hull City Tigers on Sunday. Meanwhile, Paul Lambert's side go into the game having secured the shock of the Premier League's opening day, winning 3-1 away to Arsenal, thanks to an Antonio Luna goal and two from Christian Benteke.
This fixture was originally scheduled for August 31, but had to be moved due to Chelsea's upcoming UEFA Super Cup tie with Champions League winners Bayern Munich next Friday. So both sides are back in action just a few days after their new seasons kicked off at the weekend.
Good evening and welcome to Goal's LIVE! text commentary for this Premier League fixture between Chelsea and Aston Villa. I'm Tom Etherington (@tom_etherington) and I'll be taking you through all the action at Stamford Bridge this evening.
