Almost had an early slip-up when he dropped the ball in front of two Ajax forwards, but managed to retrieve the situation. Despite Ajax having numerous chances, he was rarely troubled.
V. van Dijk
The Dutch defender was a colossus, looking assured throughout and able and willing at times to move forward and support the players in front of him.
Starting to look more comfortable for the Hoops than he did at the start of the season, putting in some really good challenges to keep Ajax at bay. Still had a couple of heart in mouth moments, but was bailed out by Van Dijk.
Done a lot of the heavy lifting for Celtic as he filled in for the suspended Scott Brown, helping to guard the back four with Kayal. Also doubled up as a left-back when Izaguirre was caught out of position. Then moved to the central of defence after Lustig went off.
Got caught out far too many times, as he either was too far forward, or was squeezed into the middle, allowing space for the visitors on the right. But moving forward, he did look dangerous with some of his crosses into the box.
When he was afforded the space to move forward he looked crisp with his crossing from the right wing. Also able to fulfil his defensive obligations, making sure that the visitors did not have the free reign of the right hand side. Was replaced by Biton late on.
Made a wonderful challenge in the first half to prevent his side from going behind as they were caught on the counter-attack. Was somewhat fortunate to see his long-range strike deflect off Denswil for the Hoops' second of the night. Replaced by Ledley.
A menace for Blind throughout, as he tried to use his pace to get by the Dutch defender and set up his attacking team-mates. Showed great composure to fire home the penalty, despite a lengthy delay before getting to take it.
Showed some great movement at times, giving Denswil numerous problems that resulted in the defender hauling him down for a penalty. Had a couple of efforts to get a goal himself.
Carved open the left wing at times with his trickery and had a couple of chances to score, but was unable to find the target. Was still willing to keep pushing forward throughout the game.
Was not as effective as Stokes, as he rarely had sustained possession in which he could create chances to get on the scoresheet.
Looked nervous early on, but managed to gain his composure and was more than happy to pass his way out of danger, rather than launching the ball up the park. Could do nothing with either goal.
R. van Rhijn
Found marking Samaras tricky, as the Greek striker constantly went inside and out of the full back. But when he was able to move forward he provided vital attacking support to those in front of him. Substituted for Schone.
Made a huge mistake on the stroke of half-time, as he brought down Stokes inside the box to give Celtic a penalty. Then compounded his error early in the second half when he was the wrong man in the wrong place to deflect Kayal’s strike into his own goal.
Had the job of marking Pukki and helped keep the Finnish international quiet for the most part. Did not allow him the space he needed in order to create openings for the home side.
Was the deep-lying player for the visitors, coming to collect the ball from the goalkeeper and did well at distributing possession throughout the park. Had a golden opportunity to put his side ahead in the first half but his strike cannoned off the post. Was taken off for Boilesen.
S. de Jong
When he was afforded space by the Celtic midfield he looked extremely dangerous as he attempted to pick out Sigthorsson, who was leading the lead. Also helped in keeping his area tight against fewer Celtic players.
Was comfortable when on the ball, looking to find the pass whenever available and also did well at dealing with the pace of Forrest on the wing.
Was not as lively as the other midfielders in his side, but when he was on the ball he looked composed and assured in possession. Had a great chance to put his side level after the break, but was thwarted by Forster.
Gave Izaguirre a torrid time down the Ajax right wing, as he continually pressured the left-back, putting him on the back foot and getting in behind the Honduran when he was caught up field.
Some beautiful creativity from by the 19-year-old Dane as he moved in and out of the space afforded to him between the Celtic defence and midfield. Could not find the finish that would have helped his side. Replaced by De Sa.
Had a few chances, but could not seem to get a proper angle for the finish, being moved out wide at times as a result of the pressure exerted by the home defence.
