The Argentinian stopper made a couple of decent saves to deny Mutu early on but was not tested much after that.
Booked for a foul just one minute into the second half and was troubled by the trickery of Fiorentina's Santana.
Had to leave the field in the 52nd minute after a nasty twist of his left knee, but was very impressive in his time on the field. Made two crucial interceptions in the first half.
Like Spolli, the Catania left-back had to be replaced beacuse of an injury. Was given an easy ride by Marchionni, who was starved of the ball.
A decent performance from the big defender. Resolute at the back and handled the threat of Gilardino very well.
Worked hard in the centre of midfield.
Drove his team on, particularly in the second half when he tried to take the game by the scruff of the neck in order to open the scoring.
A very lively performance from the diminutive wide-man. Always looking for the ball to run at opponents and had the Fiorentina back-line on their heels on more than one occasion.
Tried to get up and support lone frontman Antenucci and did a reasonable job in a box-to-box performance.
Worked hard up front and tried to link up with Gomez who got forward to support at every opportunity. Gave Gamberini a tough time and was unlucky not to score with a couple of half chances.
The Catania talisman was at the centre of most of his side's most inventive play. His free-kicks and corners were a real threat, particularly one which he fired against the bar in the opening stages.
Like his opposite number, Frey was never really tested but saved anything that was thrown at him.
Worked hard by Antenucci, who puts himself about and tries to ruffle defender's feathers. But the Italian international coped admirably and limited him to a couple of half chances.
A sound defensive performance from the big defender.
The right-back was surprisingly underworked due to the fact Mascara is given license to come in off the left to try and hurt the opposition.
Although Gomez was very lively on the Catania right, he never really made Pasqual look foolish at any point.
Made a very sloppy start with some slack passing but grew into the game without being spectacular.
Covered for Montolivo in the early stages and was efficient and tidy with the ball. An unsung hero for la Viola.
The right-footed wide-man played on the left and was full of tricks and flicks. But he never managed to hurt the opposition for all his dynamism.
Was starved of the ball in the first half as Fiorentina constantly attacked down the left. Came into things more in the second half but still wasn't involved enough.
Looked the most likely to score for the away side and came close to doing so with a few early efforts. Will be an important player for Fiorentina when he gets his match sharpness back.
Cut a frustrated figure up front. Had little or no goalscoring opportunities and looked as if the whole world was against him.

Came on at left-back just before the break and coped with Marchionni, who came into the game more after the break.
Took Spolli's place at the heart of the defence and the Italian under-21 internationalist slotted in seamlessly.

A late replacement for captain Mascara but had little time to make an impact.
