Llama slips a pass to Antenucci, who looks to twist and turn his way past the defence, and his shot goes straight off the defender, and the danger is not quite cleared, as Llama rebounds the ball, but cannot do anything with it.

Gomez, twisting and turning, manages to get his left-footed shot off, but it takes a deflection and out for a corner...Gomez takes the corner, going deep to the top of the area, and Pasqual clears it away.
Comotto is hobbling off, managing to get up, and so is Mascara.

Mascara is up-ended by Comotto. A dangerous sliding tackle on the edge of the area, and they ref shows a yellow card to the Fiorentina defender. Both players are down, in considerable pain.
Mascara squares a ball to Izco, who is allowed time and space to drive his low shot in, but Frey is equal to the chance.
Antenucci is given some space by Natali and fires his shot just wide, nipping to side-netting as it travels past.
Marchionni sprints down the left, finding Gilardino in the middle, but the Italian international looks to return the ball back to Marchionni, but it was a poor pass.
Catania look to push forward, and Gomez sees Potenza making a move, but the pass is too hard, running out of play.
Comotto gives away the free-kick against Mascara...The same player tries to swing in a ball, but it is not of any quality, and it is gotten away.

Corner floated into the middle, and Andujar punches away convincingly.
Mutu and Santana combine for the latter to get a shot off, but it rebounded off a Catania defender and out for a corner.
Catania are content to pass the ball along the back four, and the fans do no appreciate it, jeering their team.

Antenucci again tries to twist and turn his way past Gamberini, but cannot and earns a throw-in.
Antenucci is given some space, but sees he is the only attacking player ahead, and decides to hold up the ball, as Ricchiuti and Izco push forward, but nothing comes to fruition, as the move is stopped by Pasqual.

Gomez tries his best to earn a free-kick, but it is waived away, as the referee felt there was no contact.

Gomez bumps Pasqual off the ball, and the referee blows for a foul, but the linesman has reversed the decision, saying that Gilardino was in an offside position prior to this. Catania's ball.
Capuano is coming off, injuring his leg whilst attempting a cross. Alvarez is on.
Mut looks to weave his way past Spolli, but is dispossessed and falls to the ground. he appeals for a free-kick, but the ref says no. Catania push forward through Gomez, who sees Ricchiuti ahead, but they cannot combine again, and the danger dissipates.
Donadel steals the ball off Ricchiuti, but as he tries to move the ball out of defence, gives the home side another chance to score, as they earn a corner.
Masacara is down on the ground, holding his right shoulder. Seems in some pain, but is okay and play continues.

Mascara returns to help out in defence, but is put under pressure as Comotto applies pressure to almost force an error out of him.
Mutu was one-on-one, after Gilardino's excellent knock-down, but Spolli was able to come in from the side and get the ball out of danger.

Santana looks to push the ball forward, seeing Pasqual ahead. He in turn headers the ball downwards in the direction of Mutu, but the Romanian is swamped by two players.
Penalty claim by Catania, as Ricchiuti felt the ball hit Comotto's arm.
Gomez surges forward finding Ricchiuti, expecting the return pass, but is instead tripped without possession, and the referee waives the appeal away. Play on!
Here come Fiorentina on a counterattack, as Gamberini lays a pass off for Mutu, who is in turn crunched by Mascara, and the referee blows for a foul. He is getting some rough treatment from both the crowd and the Rossoazzurri.
Mutu gives away a free-kick against Izco over 35 yards out, and Mascara is circling. He has scored from this distance, but he decides to find a team-mate in the box, and Spolli was unmarked, but he could not get his shot on target.
Mascara tries the acrobatics from a Ricchiuti lob in the box, but fails to connect properly with it. Great play by the home side, as they are looking to open up the Viola with their passing.

Wonderful passage of play by Catania, as it counterattacked from defence. Ricchiuti found Izco, who in turn threaded a pass in between two Viola defenders for the oncoming Gomez, and his shot went directly to Frey.
Given away by Sivestre on the half-way line, and the Gigliati pounce forward, but as they start to move, the entire Catania team push all the way back into their own half.
Mascara cleverly chips a ball over the defence for Ricchiuti, who pushes out to the left wing, twists and turns his way around Comotto, and delivers a ball into the middle, but it has come off Natali's head and out for a corner.
Fiorentina are holding up the ball, as they look to find a way through this Catania defence. The long ball over the top by Montolivo for Marchionni is attempted, but Capuano steals the ball away.
Santana sees Mutu in the middle unmarked, and his header forces Andujar to make a diving save. The Romanian looks rather eager to make up for loss time... Corner to the Viola, but it is gotten away.
Marchionni sees Pasqual making a run along the left wing, and sends a long ball over to the wing-back, who tries to dribble past Potenza, but the defender is able to hold him off, and with the help of Ricchiuti, get the ball out of danger.
Potenza pushes forward along the right, and looks to swing in a ball, but Pasqual blocks it with his body.
OFF THE CROSSBAR! Mascara's wonderful free-kick had Frey standing still like a statue, and only the woodwork kept the scoreline free.
A loud jeer goes up as soon as Adrian Mutu touches the ball, but he is able to fend off his opponent and get a confidence-boosting shot off, but Andujar is equal to the attempt.
Gomez tries to send in an early ball, but it is headed away.

Last week, the home side had a 1-0 loss to Genoa whilst the Viola got their season on track with a 2-1 win over Bari. For the away side, Adrian Mutu makes his long-awaited return from a suspension, and is set to play just behind Alberto Gilardino. The match is set to start in 10 minutes, so stay tuned!
