The visitors will aim to maintain their top spot in the table...
Catania had commenced their campaign in Serie A with a 2-1 defeat to Chievo in Verona and there were suggestions that the Sicilians might have to struggle again this season.
However, Marco Giampaolo's side have recovered marvellously since then and after defeating Parma 2-1 at home in their second league game held a star-studded Milan side to a 1-1 draw at the San Siro on Saturday evening.
After the match, Giampaolo said, “It’s a draw that brings morale to the side. I think my team played a good game and we interpreted the game in the way I had planned during the week.
“Milan put us into difficulty at times but we expected this given the quality they have especially in attack. I have to give credit especially to the likes of [Giuseppe] Mascara who had to sacrifice this evening for the benefit of the side.
“Given the chances we created, I think it is a fair result. Now we will look to build on this performance by remembering that with the right team spirit we can match even the big boys.”
Top Of The League
Cesena are playing in their first Serie A campaign for the first time for 19 years and are expected by most observers to go straight down to Serie B. However, the Seahorses have been the revelations of the season as they have been the most impressive side in the Italian top flight.
Sitting in pole position in the league with seven points having scored three goals and conceded none, Cesena are certainly smothering their detractors. A 0-0 draw with Roma in Rome was followed by a 2-0 defeat of Milan at home and on Sunday afternoon Massimo Ficcadenti's side defeated Lecce 1-0 at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi.
However, club president Igor Campedelli is thinking only of surviving the drop and said, "We're first in the standings with Inter? Of course, it's better to say we have collected seven points towards salvation, towards achieving 40 points."
