Cardiff City - Tottenham Preview: Hosts look to maintain impressive start against Spurs

Malky Mackay's men have taken five points from their opening four fixtures and will be looking to extend their solid home form as they welcome Andre Villas-Boas' side to Wales

Cardiff City will be hopeful of continuing their strong start to life in the Premier League when they take on Tottenham on Sunday.

Malky Mackay's men - who were promoted to the top-flight after winning the Championship last term - will enter Sunday's fixture against Spurs on the back of a four-match unbeaten streak.

A 3-2 home win over Manchester City sparked a solid run of form which has seen draws with Everton and Hull City followed by a 2-0 Capital One Cup victory at Accrington Stanley.

Key to Cardiff's survival aims this season will be their results at home, which proved crucial in their promotion last term as they lost just twice in Wales in 23 fixtures.

14/1 Steven Caulker is 14/1 with BetVictor to score anytime against Tottenham
And they remain undefeated at the Cardiff City Stadium in the current campaign, a statistic Mackay will be determined to continue.

He said: "[Tottenham's team] it looks like a Champions League squad now. It is absolutely a match for the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

"The players he already had were a good top-six team, but I think they have strength in depth. They may have a big fixture list, but they also have a big squad full of quality."

Cardiff are set to welcome back goalkeeper David Marshall and attacker Craig Bellamy - who both missed the trip to Hull with hip and knee problems respectively - but striker Andreas Cornelius is still sidelined with an ankle problem.

Tottenham will enter the match following a 3-0 Europa League win against Tromso on Thursday, in which Jermain Defoe scored a brace to hand his team an easy win.

Defoe is likely to drop back to the bench to make way for Spaniard Roberto Soldado, but Christian Eriksen, who scored a superb curling strike after coming on as a substitute, is sure to start.

Tottenham left-back Danny Rose (ankle) is unlikely to feature after limping off against Tromso, while midfielder Moussa Dembele (ankle) and defender Younes Kaboul (adductor) are also doubtful.

Aaron Lennon (foot), Etienne Capoue (ankle) are long-term absentees but Romanian defender Vlad Chiriches could feature after eventually being granted a work permit.
