Burnley can certainly feel a bit aggrieved, though, after their dominant first-half display, while they still impressed in large parts after the break. Meanwhile, West Ham's two penalties were their only two shots this evening - that's what you call a smash and grab. Thanks for joining us.
There goes the full-time whistle - West Ham progress to the next round. They were made to work for the victory, though, and looked far from the better side in the first half. However, after Burnley failed to take their numerous chances, the Championship side were punished by two silly challenges and two penalty kicks.
90' + 4'
Red Card Keith Treacy
ANOTHER PENALTY AND A RED CARD! Collison wins a late spot kick after Treacy brings him down as the last man, and is duly sent off.
90' + 4'
Penalty Goal Jack Collison
GOAL! Collison sends the keeper the wrong way to tuck away the penalty, giving West Ham a 2-0 lead and securing their place in the next round of the Capital One Cup.

Shackell twists and turns his way into the West Ham penalty box before firing a shot wildly over the bar.
Burnley have a minimum of three minutes of added time to try and send this clash to extra time.
Burnley substitute Kightly goes close with a decent strike from range but it's just wide of the post.
Adrian makes a save from a Vokes header after a Burnley corner. It was a decent effort but placed straight at the West Ham keeper when he should do better.
Edgar chips a dangerous ball in behind the West Ham defence from a central position inside the visitors' half, but none of the Burnley attackers can get on the end of it.
Stock shoots at goal after Stanislas' neat lay-off, but O'Brien deflects the ball behind for a corner. Adrian punches the resulting delivery away, before collecting a long-range effort from Treacy with ease.
Joe Cole and Taylor combine well on West Ham's left before the former's cross forces a corner. The delivery goes all the way through to Downing at the far post but he fails to find a team-mate with a second cross.
Treacy and Stanislas try to combine as Burnley look to make an instant reply, but their one-two is cut out on the edge of the box.
Penalty Goal Matthew Taylor
GOAL! Taylor powers the penalty beyond the reach of Heaton, who dives the correct way, giving West Ham the lead at Turf Moor!
Yellow Card Jason Shackell
PENALTY! West Ham are awarded a spot kick after Shackell fouls Nolan in the box!
Maiga gets down the left wing before holding up a nice cross to the far post, but Mee is there to head it away. West Ham come forward again, though, with Nolan crossing from the right, only for Heaton to claim the ball.
Downing delivers a corner from the right, finding Joe Cole in space on the edge of the penalty area with a cheeky low cross, however the former Liverpool man completely misses the ball with a wild swing of his boot.
Downing bursts down the right and into the Burnley penalty box before finding Collison in space on the edge of the area. He pulls the trigger but, again, the effort is blocked.
Chambers and Joe Cole combine to force a corner on the right but West Ham fail to make it count. Meanwhile, Nolan is being readied on the sidelines.
CROSSBAR! Just as I say that bit of quality is lacking, Trippier slams a free-kick against Adrian's crossbar! So unlucky, Burnley!
With extra time looming - which I'm sure neither team wants - can someone provide a bit of magic, or perhaps a mistake, to open the scoring here? It's still fairly open but, in truth, no-one looks to have that bit of cutting edge.
Taylor bundles his way through a few challenges before unleashing a shot at goal, but it's blocked and Burnley get the danger cleared.
Joe Cole drives down the left flank but can't find a teammate with the cross. This tie is really open now.
Stanislas and Ings combine to great effect from a short corner, catching West Ham by surprise, but the former's low cross is cleared. It falls kindly for Treacy but he lashes the volley over.
Taylor whips in a vicious shot-cum-cross from West Ham's left but no-one can quite stretch far enough to get on the end of it.
Joe Cole now has the ball in the back of the net - slotting away a neat overhead kick after getting in the way of Maiga's effort - but the offside flag is raised and it won't count.
Tomkins heads at goal after Joe Cole's corner from the left, but it's blocked off the line by a combination of two Burnley players and goes behind once more.
Tomkins fouls Stanislas after the Burnley man beats the defender with some nice skill - but the attacker fires the resulting free-kick over the bar.
West Ham certainly look more up for this already and have enjoyed almost all the ball since the restart. Joe Cole is getting himself in possession and trying to pull some strings.
Carlton Cole takes a tumble in the penalty box under pressure from Trippier but the referee gives a corner, which Burnley clear.
The Hammers get things back underway at Turf Moor.
It takes them about five attempts, but Burnley finally get the second corner clear.
But, despite their strong start, Burnley have failed to find the net and may rue that against a side of Premier League quality. They might not have created anything as of yet, but West Ham may only need one chance. Still, Allardyce will need to make sure his players perform much better this half, which is just moments away.
And there goes the half-time whistle. It's been far from a vintage performance from either side, but it's certainly Burnley who are on top at Turf Moor. Vokes and Ings, who have been on fire in the Championship, have both threatened the West Ham goal, while Treacy, Stanislas and Trippier have also impressed. As for Allardyce's men, they are yet to have a single shot on goal and have struggled to string more than a few passes together.
45' + 1'
Stanislas fires a shot at goal but it's straight at Heaton, who saves it easily.
We're going to have a minimum of one minute of added time.
Trippier, who has impressed so far, storms down the right again but this time his cross fails to beat the first man.
Tomkins makes a hash of clearance inside the Hammers penalty box but they eventually get it clear at the third ask. Allardyce's men still look far from comfortable.
POST! Trippier puts a fantastic ball into the box from deep on the right flank - Vokes heads it onto the post but, in fact, the offside flag is raised. Still so unlucky though.
Ings flies in on Maiga to stop the West Ham attacker from simply clearing his lines, much to the appreciation of the home crowd.
Tomkins gets on the end of a deep free-kick for West Ham but Heaton is on hand to make the save.
Stanislas fires in a dangerous cross from the left, after cutting in on his right. West Ham defender O'Brien misjudges his jump and misses the ball, almost allowing Treacy a simple header home, but he just can't get there in time.
It's all gone a bit quiet with neither side able to create anything at the moment. Carlton Cole, meanwhile, is back up and okay to continue.
Speaking of Carlton Cole, he's down injured and receiving treatment inside the Burnley box after challenging Heaton in the air - it looks like he landed awkwardly there.
West Ham are just managing to get on the ball a bit more now, with Carlton Cole making a nuisance of himself inside the area. However, they are yet to test Heaton in the hosts' goal.
Treacy is lucky to escape a booking after flying through the back of Potts just outside the West Ham box - that was a rash tackle if ever I've seen one.
Treacy beats his man as he cuts in from the right flank once more, but his shot is straight at West Ham keeper Adrian who saves with ease.
Trippier sends a dangerous ball into the West Ham penalty area but Ings fails to get his glanced header on target.
Treacy is next to have a shot on goal, but he sends his left-footed strike wide of the post after cutting in from the right.
Burnley are certainly on top at the moment, with the visiting side unable to keep hold of the ball at Turf Moor.
DOUBLE SAVE! Ex-Hammer Stanislas forces Adrian into a neat stop, low at his near post, with a decent drive from outside the penalty area. The West Ham keeper then reacts quickly to deny Ings from the resulting corner.
Vokes skips away from his man before finding Mee to his left - the defender tries an ambitious strike from way out and sends it miles over the bar.
Burnley are enjoying a good spell of possession just now, knocking the ball around neatly in midfield, but Trippier's final delivery into the box is cleared.
Vokes fires over the bar with the first opening of the game, after the ball breaks kindly for him on the edge of the West Ham penalty box. He should really hit the target, there.
The home side have made a decent start at Turf Moor, taking the game to the Premier League outfit in the early stages, but we're still yet to see a chance.
And we're off.
West Ham have failed to keep a clean sheet away from home in the Capital One Cup in their last 13 attempts, whereas Burnley have not conceded in their last eight games on the bounce.
Burnley have never beaten West Ham in a cup competition, having met five times, but the Championship side are currently on a run of eight victories in a row in all competitions. Could this be the night for them to break that duck?
We've got just under 10 minutes until kick-off at Turf Moor, so just enough time for some pre-match stats ...
