This is a relegation six-pointer as both sides are level on points with the hosts third from bottom...
Brescia are third from bottom in Serie A having bagged 15 points from 17 matches so far. They are level on points with Lecce, who are second from bottom, and Cesena, who are a place above them.
With things so congested near the bottom, Brescia would have to pick up as many points as they can at home since they are awful on the road. Today the Rondinelle would have the chance to shoot two birds with a single stone - a win would give them the boost and points they need to avoid relegation and also push their relegation-rivals down.
Doing that, though, would be far from easy as Brescia have struggled for goals this season and also have a less than impressive defensive record.
Seeking Maiden Away Win
Cesena were a bright spark at the start of the 2010-11 campaign but the newly promoted Serie A club have been on a downward spiral ever since. Currently stationed just a place above the relegation zone, the Seahorses are set to fight the rest of the season against the drop to the Italian second division.
Winning today against Brescia at the Mario Rigamonti, though, will be far from easy as Cesena have yet to win away from home all season. Massimo Ficcadenti's side have collected just two points from their seven league matches on the road, having scored just thrice in the process.
Hope, as they say, springs eternal. Cesena ended 2010 with a 1-0 victory over Cagliari and new signing Paolo Sammarco claims that he is the man to rescue the Seahorses from sinking.
"I am delighted to be at Cesena," explained the midfielder. "They are a good team who have achieved a lot in recent years and that attracted me to them. But we are fighting to stay up and I am here to help them on that road.
"At Sampdoria I had limited playing time in my position and I really want to play, more so in a team that is battling to avoid the drop. I didn't think twice when I got the offer from Cesena.
"I have been told that it's a calm place that allows you to work in the best possible way so I had no doubts about the move. I feel ready to play straight away and try to express my best in Cesena.''
Zambelli, Hetemaj and Kone are injured and will sit out the match. Caracciolo and Eder will be the two strikers in a 4-3-1-2 formation. Diamanti will be the playmaker behind them.
Piangerelli and Nagatomo will miss the trip to Brescia because injuries. Cesena are likely to go with a 4-3-3 formation.
