Full time at the Westfalenstadion. Dortmund come out emphatic 5-1 winners over Hannover thanks to a Mario Gotze hat-trick and goals from Kuba and Mario Gotze. The hosts were in superb form tonight and simply outclassed Die Roten to progress to the next round of the DFB Pokal! Thank you for joining us on Goal.com! See you next time!
Goal Robert Lewandowski
GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAL FOR DORTMUND!!! Well how about that! Lewandowski scores!! Gundogan chips the ball inside the box and the Pole crashes a header off the post but recovers quickly to smash the ball home! 5-1!
Dortmund looking for another goal. Robert Lewandowski has been superb tonight but has not got himself on the scoresheet yet. Don't count him out!
Jurgen Klopp makes his last two substitutions of the match as hat-trick hero Mario Gotze comes off for Ivan Perisic and Kuba is replaced by Leonardo Bittencourt.
Assist Robert Lewandowski
Goal Mario Götze
GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAL FOR DORTMUND!! Mario Gotze hat-trick!! Lewandowski chests the ball down expertly inside the box and teases the defenders with a few classy touches before dinking a fantastic cross to the back post for his team-mate who smashes the ball in on the volley!
The game is extremely stretched now. With Hannover pushing for another goal there is a lot more space being created in the final third for Dortmund. There is definitely more goals in this.
Hannover have been given a shot in the arm after that goal! The visitors looking much more up for it now! It may be too little too late, though!
Assist Szabolcs Huszti
Goal Mame Biram Diouf
GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAL FOR HANNOVER!! A ray of hope!! A classic counterattack sees Huszti go on a marauding run down the left-hand side. He whips a perfect cross into the centre for Mame Diouf who emphatically heads home! 3-1!
A small break in play at the moment as Gotze is currently down. The German was running at blistering speed down the flank and his stride was stopped emphatically by Schulz. It looks as if the Dortmund man will be okay.
First change of the match from the hosts. Marco Reus is withdrawn for Julian Schieber.
Dortmund starting to turn up the heat. Most of their play is coming down the right wing and a number of crosses have been sent into the box, with Hannover looking shaky in their attempts to clear the ball.
Horrible miss from Reus!! Subotic flicks the corner on at the front post and the ball finds its way to the former Gladbach man at the back post, but with the goal at his mercy he horribly balloons the ball into the stand!
Second corner kick of the match for Dortmund after Kuba got down the right-hand side and smashed the ball off Schulz. They have looked dangerous from set-pieces, so let's see what they can muster up.
Disappointing from Huszti. The Hungarian floats the ball into the area but it is bread and butter for Subotic, who commandingly heads away to safety.
Hannover with the chance now to get bodies into the box as they have a free kick on the left-hand side. All the big men from the back are making their way forward.
And immediately followed by their third change. Artur Sobiech has been introduced into the action in place of Didier Ya Konan.
Didier Ya Konan
Second change of the match from Hannover. Steve Cherundolo comes off to be replaced by Hiroki Sakai.
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAL FOR HANNOVER!! WAIT! NO! OFFSIDE!!! The visitors thought they had been given a slight chance to get back into the match as Schlaudraff headed into the top corner, but it was correctly given as offside.
Dortmund showing their class at the moment. They have taken the tempo of their game down slightly but have still dominant in their possession of the ball.
Yellow Card Manuel Schmiedebach
Schmiedbach has really put himself out in this game. The Hannover man has eventually picked up a yellow card for a kick out at Gundogan. He'll be walking on eggshells now.
Dortmund have Hannover camped inside their own half at the moment. Any time the visitors look to break out from their defence they are quickly picked off by the intense pressing of Klopp's men.
So close from Subotic!!! The Serbian rises high inside the box and glances a terrific header towards the far corner but it goes a whisker wide of the post! Where was the Hannover defence there?!
Reus whips a cross to the near post but Haggui makes a solid clearing header out of the box. An offside call on Lewandowski then gives Hannover a breather.
Another free kick opportunity for Dortmund. Reus is fouled again on the right-hand side. Let's see what they can make of this.
Great save from Zieler!! Lewandowski turns excellently on the edge of the box and drives a powerful strike towards the bottom left corner but the Hannover keeper' makes the stop and turns the ball round the post.
Good defending from Hannover. Gundogan gets into a great position inside the box but finds himself outnumbered. Eggimann makes the vital interception and gets the ball up the park.
Kuba lashes a shot just wide. Lewandowski turns sharply just inside the Hannover half and lays the ball into the path of his compatriot on the right-hand side but he drags his shot the wrong side of the post. A pacey counterattack there.
We are back underway!
Half time in the Westfalenstadion. Dortmund have been absolutely superb so far and go into the break with a 3-0 lead over Hannover. Gotze has bagged two and Kuba also chipped in with a goal. The hosts looking totally dominant, and you fear for Hannover in the second half. Join us in 15 minutes for the second period!
The visitors just cannot get out of their own half. They have not had one single period of sustained possession inside the Dortmund half. The pressing of Klopp's men has made it very difficult for them to retain the ball.
Hannover have been totally outclassed in this first half. They have not been terribly by any means but they have been outdone by a superb attacking team.
Goal Mario Götze
GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAL FOR DORTMUND!! What a clever set-piece! Mario Gotze anticipates the wall jumping and as it does so, the German fires the ball under the Hannover players into the bottom corner! Zieler didn't even move! 3-0 and Dortmund looking likely winners now!
Yellow Card Steven Cherundolo
Dortmund with a free kick in a great position after Reus is brought down just on the edge of the box by Steve Cherundolo. The Hannover man receives a booking for his trouble.
Dortmund continuing to look dangerous here. Hannover are defending slightly better and squeezing the space in front of their own box, but the hosts still looking sharp.
Fantastic tackle from Ya Konan!! Reus finds himself on a great position down the right flank again and looks to pick out Grosskreutz at the back post. The German looked poised to shoot but the Hannover striker makes a superb challenge inside his own box to claw the ball back.
Very early substitution from Hannover. Christian Pander comes off and he is replaced by Jan Schlaudraff. There are no signs of injury so it must be a tactical move from Mirko Slomka.
Nearly three for the hosts!! Kuba, who is playing predominantly as a left-back tonight, drives down the right wing and reverses a neat pass to the edge of the box for Reus, who lashes a strike towards the near post, but the ball bends round the wrong side of the post.
Superb hold-up play from Lewandowski. The ball was fizzed into the chest of the Pole but he takes three fantastic touches on the chest, knee, and foot to take control and pass the ball back inside.
Lewandowski misses the ball by inches!! Piszczek gallops forward down the right and finds himself in a great position inside the area. He attempts to pick out his compatriot inside the six-yard-box but the ball is just hit across goal with too much pace.
Mats Hummels and Neven Subotic, despite being warrior-like centre-backs, are also fantastic footballers in their own right. The pair have been spraying passes out to the wings since the starts of the match, with each hitting their mark almost perfectly.
Dortmund extremely dominant so far, as the scoreline suggests. In fact, I'm almost certain goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller just had his first touch of the match.

Assist Marco Reus
Goal Jakub Blaszczykowski
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAL FOR DORTMUND!!! That was too easy, be it slightly fortuitous! Reus drives forward and slips a defence-splitting pass through the middle for Kuba who sees the ball cannon off the goalkeeper, onto his chest, and then into the net! 2-0!
Some lovely interplay between Dortmund at the moment. Hummels finds Piszczek on the right with a fantastic cross-field pass. The Pole then exchanges a delightful one-two with Reus before drifting inside.
Hannover given another taste of threat that Dortmund possess. Gotze whipped in a free kick from the right-hand side and Mats Hummels was in a great position to finish only to be flagged offside. It was the correct call by the officials but the German was totally unmarked inside the box.
Great defending from Subotic. Pander picks the ball up in midfield and clips a lovely ball over the top of the Dortmund defence for Huszti but the big Serbian showed excellent strength to shield the ball out for a goal kick.
The match has calmed down a tad after a blistering opening period. Dortmund don't look too eager to go for the jugular as they are very comfortable with their opening goal in place.
Small period of possession for Hannover at the moment. Their captain, Steve Cherundolo, has intelligently took the pace out of the match by keeping the ball along the back line for a few moments. Clever, as his team needed a bit of respite.
Diouf turns sharply on the left wing and looks to drive to the byline but Subotic comes in with an excellent challenge. Better play from Hannover.
Dortmund looking, very, very sharp in the opening stages here. Hannover are not coping at all well with the incisive movement of the pacey front four of the hosts. It could be two or even three nil so far.
Great save from Zieler!! Lewandowski takes the ball around the goalkeeper but does not pull the trigger right away, and the Hannover man takes advantage to narrow the angle and block the ball out for a corner!
It was a glorious pass from Sebastian Kehl into the box for Grosskreutz in the lead up to that goal. The Dortmund captain makes his return from injury tonight for the hosts.
Assist Kevin Großkreutz
Goal Mario Götze
GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAL FOR DORTMUND!!!! It didn't take them long!! Kevin Grosskreutz breaks the Hannover offside trap and gets on the end of a chip to the back post to head the ball back across goal to the oncoming Gotze, who smashes in from a yard!
Dortmund have started well here. Hannover look to be playing two up front with Ya Konan and Diouf, but as a result, Gundogan is getting a lot of room in midfield to create from deeper areas.
We are under way in the Westfalenstadion!
This is the last German match we will see before the Christmas break, so both sides will be eager to end 2012 on a high.
With the Bundesliga title seemingly out of the reach of Dortmund, they will add even more importance to the defence of their German Cup. Jurgen Klopp's extremely strong line-up suggests he sees the DFB Pokal as a high priority for his side.
Dortmund are the current holders of the DFB Pokal and have won the cup three times in their history. Bayern Munich have won the most titles, with 15.
This is the starting XI of Hannover: Zieler; Cherundolo, Eggimann, Haggui, Schulz; Schmiedebach, Pinto; Ya Konan, Huszti, Pander; Diouf
This is how Dortmund will be lining up tonight: Weidenfeller; Piszczek, Subotic, Hummels, Blaszczykowski; Gundogan, Kehl; Grosskreutz, Gotze, Reus; Lewandowski.
THE TEAMS ARE IN.
I'm Martin Macdonald, and I'll be taking you through the action this evening. When Dortmund and Hannover are around, there is usually plenty of goals, so here's hoping we get more of the same tonight!
