Live Commentary

  • That's it from me folks, bye for now.
  • Another disappointing end to a game from a Dortmund perspective. They had their chances to take maximum points, but allowed Augsburg to score twice from their only two efforts. Forget the title, they are now dangerously close to dropping out of the top four after this result.
  • 90' + 3'
    That's it!
  • 90' + 2'
A punt into the box is headed clear by the Augsburg defence, and Dortmund have just about run out of ideas.
  • 90'
Three minutes of stoppage time signaled to end the game.
  • 88'
    SubstitutionArkadiusz Milik Jeong-Ho Hong
  • 88'
Dortmund continue to struggle to break down the defence in the closing stages, as that Reus chance looks increasingly like an aberration.
  • 86'
REUS! WAS THAT THE CHANCE! Lewandowski releases him at pace with a great through pass, and the winger drills at goal, but Hitz makes the stop with his legs!
  • 84'
    SubstitutionHenrikh Mkhitaryan Julian Schieber
  • 84'
Looks like the end of a disappointing outing for Mkhitaryan, and on comes Schieber in his stead.
  • 82'
Sneaky attempts by the visitors to waste time at every opportunity, and it's serving to rattle the composure of the hosts.
  • 80'
It's just not happening for a visibly frustrated BVB out on the pitch. Augsburg, job done at one end, are packing bodies in their own half.
  • 78'
Now the hosts have to throw caution to the wind really, because a draw is not an acceptable result for a side with ambitions of a Champions League berth.
  • 74'
We said pre-match that the case of Ji would be interesting, and the substitute inevitably comes on to potentially steal the headlines. For those who missed it, the Korean, on loan from Sunderland, is set to join BVB on a free transfer in the summer! What a first impression!
  • 72'
    Assist Andre Hahn
  • 72'
    Goal Dong-Won Ji
Again, the visitors attack down that right flank from which they fashioned their first. Again it's Hahn with all the good work, bending in an incredible cross that Dong-Won Ji connects perfectly with to head home!
  • 72'
  • 70'
    SubstitutionRaul Bobadilla Dong-Won Ji
  • 70'
Dortmund taking their foot off the gas pedal just a tad following that goal. Augsburg are beginning to see more of the ball, though not in any dangerous areas.
  • 68'
Augsburg's respite lasts all of 10 minutes. Dortmund deservedly back in front, it has to be said. Let's see if they learned their lesson about closing out a result in hand.
  • 66'
    Goal Nuri Sahin
The midfielder takes charge of a free kick right outside the box and gets it over and down the wall superbly, bending it into the near side! No chance for Hitz!
  • 66'
  • 64'
For a second there was an opening when Sahin clipped a ball over the top, but no less than four Dortmund runners were caught flat footed and ball watching!
  • 62'
The set piece is buried into the wall in a disappointing end to a promising position.
  • 60'
Lewandowski is brought down on the edge of the area, leading to a free kick that Augsburg vehemently protest against, to no avail.
  • 58'
Well, Dortmund fail to take their chances at one end, and are now made to pay. Augsburg, who have barely had a chance of note, are level, and te hosts must now battle from scratch again.
  • 56'
    Own Goal Sven Bender
Great work from Hahn don the flanks forces a cross into the area, and Bender tries to take it off the toes of Bobadilla, but ends up sliding it into his own net! Avoidable!
  • 56'
  • 54'
The game getting a little scrappy out there as both Bender and Hahn commit fouls within seconds of each other.
  • 52'
Dortmund picking up where they left off at the end of the first half, bossing Augsburg around and looking comfortable on and off the ball. They need that second goal to truly be comfortable though.
  • 50'
The artillery support keeps coming in from Grosskreutz down that right flank. Again, Aubameyang is the man that comes mightily close to connecting and turning home the opener.
  • 48'
Grosskreutz's low cross comes within INCHES of being turned home by the stretching Aubameyang right in front of the goal!
  • 46'
    Here we go again!
  • Comfortable, if not commanding from the hosts, who lead thanks to Bender's early goal. Augsburg have had plenty spells of possession, but nothing to show for it. Can BVB close it out in the second half? Join us in a bit for the restart.
  • 45' + 3'
That's the end of the half.
  • 45' + 1'
    Yellow Card Tobias Werner
  • 45' + 1'
Now Ostrzolek gets his name taken for tripping up Aubameyang, who was just about to set off on his bike down the right.
  • 45'
    Yellow Card Sokratis Papastathopoulos
  • 45'
Hahn goes down with a scream of agony, and Sokratis, the guilty party, is booked immediately. The Augsburg winger certainly sold that one!
  • 43'
SCHMELZER! With bodies queuing up in the box at the end of a slick break, the left back cannot get his cross past the man at the post! Disappointing end...
  • 41'
Shot of Ilkay Gundogan, the man in demand, in the stands. How Dortmund could use him back in action.
  • 39'
Mkhitaryan has a pop from the edge of the box, but it misses the target comfortably after looking set to case trouble for Augsburg!
  • 37'
Bender lucky to avoid a yellow card for a late trip on Bender just outside the area. Apparently, he avoids conceding a free kick as well, as the referee lets play go on.
  • 35'
    SubstitutionHalil Altıntop Arkadiusz Milik
  • 35'
Altintop still hasn't recovered from that blow he took earlier during a heavy landing, and departs rubbing his neck. On comes Milik to replace him.
  • 33'
Augsburg's early positivity seems to have dried up as Dortmund are having it more and more their own way.
  • 31'
Bobadilla comes within a foot of connecting to a one-two with Altintop, but the return pass is agonizingly out of his reach, and the recovering Bender can get there first.
  • 29'
Dortmund are edging closer to a second, as a scintillating one-two-three between Lewandowski and Mkhitaryan frees the latter on goal, but his shot misses the mark.
  • 27'
This time it's Lewandowski's turn to get free beyond the defence, but with only the keeper to beat, he plants into the side netting! That could have been two!
  • 25'
Lewandowski does well to spot the run of Aubameyang towards the opposite post, and lays the ball into him, but Hitz is off his line quickly to snare the ball.
  • 23'
Reus twists in a set piece towards the far post, and once again, he finds a teammate unmarked. Sokratis connects, but cannot steer his header on target.
  • 21'
Bobadilla stretches to connect with a deep free kick towards the near post, but despite an admirable stretch, his volley goes nowhere near the goal.
  • 19'
Mkhitaryan, in one of his first notable moments, draws a rash foul from Hahn, who is booked for his troubles.
  • 17'
    Yellow Card Andre Hahn
  • 17'
Lewandowski beats his man well on the left hand side, and tees up the onrushing Reus well. He attempts to return the favour, but his back heel is straight into a defender.
  • 15'
Possession statistics from Opta show that Augsburg have seen 68 percent of the ball so far. Dortmund are clearly attempting to exploit them on the break, but the visitors have not been too careless on the ball.
  • 14'
Bender booked for a silly protest on I'm not exactly sure what.
  • 13'
Once again, Altintop whips in a long free kick into the box, but Weidenfeller is quick off his line to make a sprawling, if not entirely convincing, punch.
  • 11'
Reus goes weaving into the box, and tumbles under pressure from Klavan. It appears that the German international just lost his footing, and the referee doesn't need to take any further action.
  • 10'
    Yellow Card Sven Bender
  • 9'
Augsburg still finding some space in the attacking third as Hahn gets in a cross ahead of Schmelzer from a tight angle, but Sokratis is in position to boot away.
  • 7'
Looks like an early end to Kuba's outing, as he is replaced by Aubameyang. Surely an injury to the Pole.
  • 7'
Credit must go to Reus for the quick thinking and impeccable accuracy to place that free kick perfectly between defender and goalkeeper and into the run of Bender.
  • 6'
    SubstitutionJakub Blaszczykowski Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
  • 5'
    Assist Marco Reus
  • 5'
    Goal Sven Bender
Well wouldn't you know it! On their first attack of note, a quick free kick is played towards the far post, where Bender streaks between the fullback and goalkeeper to nod home!
  • 5'
  • 4'
Augsburg bossing it a little since the first whistle, forcing the opposition to chase the game off the ball. But we all know how good BVB are on the beak...
  • 3'
Early free kick for Weidenfeller to deal with, but Altintop's attempt to swing the ball into the mixer from a considerable distance ends up with it bouncing comfortably into the keeper's hands.
  • 1'
    And we are off!
  • Still a fearsome and awe-inspiring sight at the Signal-Iduna Park as always. A packed house of about 80 000 fans break into a thundering rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.
  • But Augsburg have lost only one of their last seven Bundesliga fixtures in a run of form dating back to November of last year. No prizes for guessing who they fell to last.
  • Dortmund, in their first competitive game of 2014, have not lost to Augsburg in five meetings. The winter break came at a good time for BVB to, quite literally lick their wounds away from the spotlight. Three of their first choice back four are still on the treatment table.
  • Dortmund are gaping in awe at a 15 point gap to leaders Bayern. Title talk has all but stopped at the Signal-Iduna Park, and Jurgen Klopp's focus must surely now lie in securing second or third place, and one of the autmoatic Champions League qualifying berths.
  • It's still too soon for injured pair Neven Subotic and Mats Hummels to be considered for selection, so the centre of the home side's defence is filled by Sokratis and Sven Bender. With Bender in the back four, Sebastian Kehl steps in to partner Nuri Sahin in the middle.
  • Lots of interest in the fate of Ji Dong-Won today, who starts the game from the bench. The South Korea international joined Augsburg on loan from Sunderland only this month, but soon after, inked a free transfer to Dortmund at the end of the season. Talk about a rock and a hard place.
  • AUGSBURG (4-5-1): Hitz; Verhaegh, Callsen-Bracker, Klavan, Ostrzolek; Baier, Hahn, Vogt, Altintop, Werner; Bobadilla.
  • DORTMUND(4-2-3-1): Weidenfeller; Grosskreutz, Bender, Sokratis, Schmelzer; Kehl, Sahin; Kuba, Mhikitaryan, Reus; Lewandowski.
  • Teams are in...
