Was brave in the air when he had to come and claim the ball and there was little he could do about either of Inter's goals.
Made some vital interceptions and was strong in the air defensively, so it was not that surprising that he put his head to good use at the other end, dragging Bologna back into the game by getting on the end of Diamanti's delivery.
Defended competently and tried to get forward when he could but his delivery was poor and he failed to put Zanetti under any real pressure.
A very committed display from the Swede, who launched himself into tackles - with scant regard for his own health. However, he was pulled out of position at times by the clever movement of Inter's front two.
Kept Nagatomo reasonably quiet and was also willing to step inside to help out his centre-halves when required. Offered nothing offensively, though.
The Frenchman played a very prominent role in Bologna's promising start but his influence waned the longer the game went on.
The on-loan Sevilla midfielder produced a wonderful pass in behind the Inter defence which Gilardino criminally failed to control. Kept probing and pressing thereafter, but gradually lost his grip on the game.
Constantly snapping at the heels of Cambiasso and Co., the former Juventus man really put himself about in midfield so it was not that surprising that he was booked for cynically hauling down his Argentine counterpart midway through the first half. Was also easily brushed aside by Palacio in the build-up to Inter's second.
Could not be faulted for effort but he was on the fringes for most of the game, with his partnership with Gilardino failing badly to ignite.
A real thorn in Inter's side. Went close with an early free kick and then fired just wide of the right post again 10 minutes later. It was his cross that Cherubin headed home to get Bologna back into the game but, despite Diamanti's best efforts, they would finish empty-handed.
Show some nice touches at times and linked well with Diamanti, but his control let him down badly after his clever run in behind was spotted by Guarente. Still, he led the line well and forced some smart saves out of Handanovic.
Very nearly spilled a Diamanti cross at the feet of Gilardino but denied the forward with a couple of good stops later in the game. However, questions will be asked about the way in which he failed to come and claim Diamanti's cross for Cherubin's header, given the defender nodded home from inside the six-yard box.
Strong performance from the veteran Argentine, who swept up well and won his fair share of headers.
A composed and classy display from the young centre-half. In true Brazilian style, he repeatedly threatened going forward; first with an ambitious but tamely hit overhead, and then with a well-struck drive after a terrific surge out of defence.
Remains very prone to lapses in concentration, as evidenced by the way in which he lost Cherubin for Bologna's goal. A shame too, as he was solid for the most part. Really should have scored after being left unmarked at a corner midway through the first half but made amends by finding the far corner with a looping header after being picked out by Cambiasso at the back stick.
A predictably energetic presence down the right-hand side, the Argentine was always on hand to help out at the back as well as offer a decent attacking option. More solid than spectacular today.
As ever, the Japanese was always keen to take up advanced positions and he played his part in Cambiasso's goal. Also defended well, so, all in all, a decent display.
A dyanamic display from the veteran midfielder, who was always looking to get forward in support of his forwards. Created Ranocchia's goal with a fine free-kick delivery to the back post before later sealing a fine away win with a sublime finish.
The former Napoli man broke up play well and was strong on the ball. However, his passing did let him down at times.
Perhaps a little too keen to make an impact against his former club, giving away a free on the edge of his own box for bundling Diamanti off the ball before then being booked for going through the same player 15 minutes in. Calmed down thereafter, though, and offered Inter no end of effort and energy in midfield.
Didn't actually see much quality ball in the first half, though he did test Agliardi with a stinging drive on the half-hour mark. Like all good strikers, took his chance when it came, guiding home Palacio's low cross at the far post. Replaced soon after.
Looked dangerous every time he got the opportunity to run at the Bologna back four, so it came as no surprise when he laid on Inter's second for Milito after a powerful drive forward down the right wing. Even better was to come, with the former Genoa man teeing up the third for Cambiasso with a sumptuous first-time lay-off.
