The Flying Donkeys are on a high after a remarkable triumph over Italian champions Inter last weekend...
Bologna have looked good at intermittent times this campaign and have performed admirably on occasions, fighting against the relegation demon with gusto. However, after Week 13 the Felsinei find themselves just two places and three points above the relegation zone.
Last weekend Bologna suffered a huge defeat in Naples as they went down 4-1 to Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo. It was their fourth successive loss on the road in Serie A and their third in five league fixtures.
However, Alberto Malesani's side have a marvellous home record as they have yet to lose at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara. Furthermore, on Thursday evening Bologna defeated Cagliari 3-0 in Sardinia in the fourth round of the Coppa Italia and they will be confident of maintaining their unbeaten record at home against Chievo and maybe even carve out a win.
Chievo recorded one of the most memorable victories in their history on Sunday last when they triumphed 2-1 over Inter in Verona in Serie A. It was the Flying Donkeys' fifth league win of the season but one that propelled them up to ninth in the standings on 19 points, just a point off a Europa League place.
Chievo are not in danger of engaging in a battle for relegation given the form that they are in at the moment but for a modest club like the Ceo picking up points and reaching the 40-point mark is always the first thing on the mind. Chievo's away form in the league this campaign, though, is encouraging as they have won two, lost two and drawn two of their six matches.
Chievo have lost just one of their last seven competitive fixtures and just one of their last three away games. But Stefano Pioli's side have failed to score in any of those three encounters and could find it tough the target against a Bologna side who have conceded just two goals in front of their own supporters.
Portanova and Perez are out injured for the home side, who are likely to set themselves up in a 4-3-2-1 formation.
Luciano and Thereau are unavailable for the Flying Donkeys for their trip to Bologna. Pellissier and Moscardelli will be the two strikers in a 4-3-1-2 system.
