That's all from here - I hope you enjoyed tonight's coverage. Until next time, all the best.
Tonight's result leaves Man City in real danger now as they fall three points behind Napoli, who beat Villarreal 2-0 at home tonight. Bayern, meanwhile, take a giant step towards qualification as they retain their two-point advantage over the Italians, while extending their lead to five over the Citizens.
FULL TIME! An emphatic win for the Germans, who keep their 12th clean sheet in 13 games in all competitions! City were able to match their hosts for the opening stages, but had no answer after falling behind.

90' + 2'
The scorer Gomez gets an ovation as he is replaced by Nils Petersen. Seconds to go...
90' + 2'
KOLAROV! That was City's best chance yet! The Serbian breaks into the box unmarked, but Boateng does well to harry his shot, which goes well wide of the far post. A real missed opportunity...
90' + 1'
Rafinha makes a rare mistake as he cheaply concedes possession. Milner comes up the right and has a shot on goal from distance, but his attempt is deflected and Neuer catches. Two minutes to be added...
Ribery gets a standing ovation from the fans as he is withdrawn. Arjen Robben embraces his team-mate as he comes in for the closing moments.
Clever ball in from Gomez towards the streaking Schweinsteiger, but Kompany makes an acrobatic save. Boateng is back at his feet now...
Oh dear, here's a nasty collision between Richards and Boateng. It was a 50-50 ball and no foul was called, but the Bayern man appears to have taken quite a knock...
Kolarov blasts in a low drive from distance, but Neuer collects. Six minutes to go...
Bayern make their first substitution: Anatoliy Tymoshchuk is on for Kroos, adding fresh legs to the midfield.
Muller...oh, Hart is just to it first! Kompany was in a foot race with the Bayern man, and managed to get just a touch to the ball to poke to his goalkeeper.
GOMEZ! Oooh, that could have been his hat trick! Kroos whips in the free kick and the striker heads towards the far corner. Hart manages to get a finger to the ball to divert wide, where Muller's outstretched boot is JUST unable to tap in.
ANOTHER booking for City as Kolo Toure slides in with a rash challenge on Ribery. This is starting to get ugly...
Yellow Card Kolo Toure
Yellow Card Yaya Touré
Yaya Toure is the next to go into the book as he cuts across Ribery. Free kick for Bayern near the half-way line, and they play it back to Neuer.
Milner whips in the free kick, but Neuer catches. A quarter hour left now and the visitors need a goal soon...
Potential chance for the visitors to pull a goal back as Kolarov wins a free kick outside the left of the box...
A final substitution for City as Aleksandar Kolarov comes on for Barry
SCHWEINSTEIGER! Oh, saved! The vice-captain has another low drive towards goal that forces a fine stop from Hart, who parries for a corner.
Bayern have absolutely no interest in advancing the ball right now; their players are spread at the back and with plenty of space to play keep-away with the City forward line...
Next substitution for City: James Milner comes on for the ineffective Nasri.
Ribery takes the ball off Richards, but is tracked down. The City right-back started the game very well but has increasingly struggled...
Yellow Card Gael Clichy
Clichy becomes the second player to be booked as he comes in hard on Muller.
AGUERO! Oooh, fantastic challenge by Boateng! The Argentine appears to be a step ahead of Boateng as he reaches a fine ball into the box. The Germany international nonetheless recovers and just manages to get his foot to the ball ahead of his opponents. Nonetheless that was much better from the visitors.
The withdrawal of Dzeko appears to have backfired for City, who at the moment have no-one up front as an outlet to hold up the ball.
City just can't keep the ball right now. Case-in-point: Hart clears to Richards, who is immediately dispossessed by Ribery.
Home fans want a penalty for a hand ball by Kolo Toure, but the Ivorian perhaps rightly avoids any repercussion as the ball had shot up off Gomez's boot and he had little time to react.
Lahm has a shot on goal, but it is lacking power and Hart saves easily.
The second goal really appears to have changed the game. City are lacking the intensity that they showed in the opening stages, and Bayern are camping out in their attacking half, under very little pressure.
Oh, Gomez! Lahm plays a dangerous ball in towards the striker, who cannot quite redirect towards goal. All it needed was a touch in the right direction...
Nigel De Jong
A curious substitution for City: defensive midfielder Nigel de Jong is on for Dzeko. Perhaps Silva or Nasri will move into a more advanced role?
Excellent defending by City. Kroos floats in a free kick that Kolo Toure heads clear. Ribery then is next to the ball and shoots, but Richards blocks the attempt.
Oh, crunching collision between Ribery and Kolo Toure at the edge of the City box. The Ivorian appears to come out second best, but will be fit to continue.
Ah, nearly a chance for City as Aguero and Neuer sprint towards a tantalising ball. The goalkeeper wins out, though.
Gomez does well to win the ball in midfield before Muller loops the ball in to Kroos. The recipient slips on his way and Hart collects.
Oh, dangerous challenge from Aguero, who could be sent off! Van Buyten races forward to nod the ball and the Argentine leaves his foot high. Little contact is made, but it was a very rash challenge from a man who is already on a yellow card...
Aguero has space for a moment as he runs up the middle, but his flicked ball towards Silva curls towards the touchline. Ribery is first to the ball and wins a free kick.
AND THE SECOND HALF BEGINS!
That's all from here for now - I'll be back in 15 minutes to keep you up to date with all the proceedings in the second half.
HALF TIME! The last five minutes of the first half were a critical period for City, and events turned against them. The visitors will feel they caught some unlucky breaks after having two penalty claims denied, but Bayern were the better team in free play, and managed to make their impact with two goals from three good opportunities.

Goal M. Gómez
GOAAAAAAAAAALLLL BAYERN! GOMEZ DOUBLES THE HOSTS' LEAD! Kroos curls in a short free kick that Van Buyten heads towards the near post, and Hart makes an excellent save. Gomez is on hand again to put in the rebound! Hart is livid!
Bayern fans want a penanty, but none is forthcoming. Ribery finds his way into the box but his final touch is strong. Kompany allows the Frenchman to run into him, but the whistle is not blown...
Yellow Card Sergio Agüero
Aguero is the first to be booked after sliding in from behind on Schweinsteiger. Free kick to the hosts near the centre circle.
Richards squares to Dzeko at the edge of the box, but Boateng lunges to block the former Wolfsburg man's shot out for a throw. Encouraging from City...
The next five minutes will be critical. City will feel very unlucky if they go into half-time down a goal, especially after having two penalty claims denied. They still have time to turn things around, though...
Assist Thomas Müller
Goal M. Gómez
GOOOOOOAAAAAL! GOMEZ MAKES IT 1-0 TO BAYERN! Hart did everything possible to keep the ball out, but the third time was a charm. Ribery fires low from the left and the ball is parried to Muller, whose follow-up is blocked by the goalkeeper. Gomez is first to the ball and fires in the opener!
SCHWEINSTEIGER! WHAT A MISS! City are caught napping for the first time as Muller squares to his international team-mate. The ball is just behind him, and Schweinsteiger loops over the bar!
Kolo Toure comes forward and concedes possession, and Bayern break. Ribery bursts past Barry before crossing to Muller near the edge of the box. The right-winger takes the ball off his chest and volleys, but Clichy does well to deflect the shot over the bar.
Schweinsteiger again has a go from distance, but this time Hart gets down quickly and manages to catch the Germany international's shot. Good save!
Ribery! Oh, Hart nearly gifts the hosts a real chance! The Frenchman fires a low drive from distance that the English goalkeeper parries somewhat unconvincingly. Muller is first to the loose ball in the box, but is well marked and unable to pick out a shot.
A brief spell illustrates just how well City are pressing: Schweinsteiger plays a loose pass from his own box that Dzeko intercepts. A few moments later, Lahm tries an outlet ball, which is also intercepted. City really looking strong now...
Bayern for the first time catch City out on the counter, but Kroos' first touch lets him down and he blasts well over the bar.
Luiz Gustavo is fortunate not to earn a booking for a rash challenge. Yaya Toure has a go from distance with the resulting free kick, but it causes little trouble for Neuer, who makes a catch save.
Penalty? No! Richards storms into the right side of the box and Boateng engages him. The City man goes down and the ball does not appear to change paths - that could have been a spot kick...
Fabulous solo run by Nasri! The Frenchman takes the ball well outside the box and tries a direct run through the middle. He reaches the edge of the box where Luiz Gustavo does just enough to win the ball back.
Oh, Dzeko nearly with a chance! The former Wolfsburg man is left unmarked following the free kick and takes the ball off his chest. He then volleys, but by that time Boateng has him closed down and manages to block the shot.
Superb play from Barry, who evades a pair of defenders before being pulled down by Luiz Gustavo.
Bayern are getting much more possession now, but still have only had one real instance of penetration into the City box. A good spell with the ball leads only to another Schweinsteiger blast, which misses over the bar.
More superb defending from Richards, who really has kept Ribery under wraps. The Bayern man had done well to take down a long ball, but Richards was not tricked by his feint and knocked the ball out for a throw-in.
More pressure from the visitors leads to a corner. Dzeko had turned to shoot, but had his attempt blocked.
First chance for Bayern, but City do just enough! Schweinsteiger plays in Rafinha, who slips up the endline and crosses towards Ribery. However, the ball takes a slight deflection on its way through and City can take a big sigh of relief.
Bayern take a quick throw and Rafinha volleys from 20 yards, but misses well over the bar.
Schweinsteiger has a go from distance, but his shot is deflected straight into Hart's arms.
Oh, great run by Aguero, but just a bit too strong with his final touch! The Argentine takes on Van Buyten and jinks towards the end line, but dribbles the ball out of play.
Silva concedes a free kick to Kroos, but that aside, City have been dominant in the midfield thus far; the intensity of their running has really disrupted their hosts' passing game.
DZEKO! City's early pressure continues as Richards bombs up the right flank and squares for the Bosnian, but Neuer is well positioned to claim what was a rather weak finish.
Great work by Silva! The Spaniard beat Boateng to the endline and both went to ground, the ball coming to a stop on the line. Silva was first to his feet and cut back, but Rafinha did just enough to deny a shot. Some claims from the visiting fans, and replays show they had a case.
Great recovery by Richards, who had initially been beaten for pace by Ribery but caught up to the Frenchman nonetheless.
First foul of the game is called on Barry for a high boot on Luiz Gustavo, who takes a heavy tumble. The Brazilian takes to his feet after a few moments on the ground and appears fit to continue.
City kick off AND WE'RE UNDERWAY!
Captains Lahm and Kompany meet in the centre circle as kick-off approaches...
The players are on the pitch now as the Champions League anthem is sung...
Subs: Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Lescott, Kolarov, Milner, De Jong, Tevez
Manchester City (4-2-3-1): Hart; Richards, Kompany, K. Toure, Clichy; Y. Toure, Barry; Silva, Aguero, Nasri; Dzeko
Kolo Toure has been granted a start in the centre of defense in what will be only his second match of the season. The Ivorian replaces Joleon Lescott.
The big news for City is that Mario Balotelli has been dropped from Roberto Mancini's squad despite scoring against Everton on Saturday. Attackers David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko will start, while Carlos Tevez starts the match as his team's only substitute forward.
Subs: Butt, Contento, Robben, Usami, Alaba, Tymoshchuk, Petersen
Bayern Munich (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Rafinha, Van Buyten, Boateng, Lahm; Luiz Gustavo, Schweinsteiger; Muller, Kroos, Ribery; Gomez
The other big news for Bayern is that Arjen Robben will only start from the bench. The Dutch winger made his return from a month-long injury spell in a brief appearance on Saturday, but is not yet fully fit.
Starting line-ups are in, and the big news is that Bayern defender Holger Badstuber has been ruled out of the match due to the flu virus. The 22-year-old has played every minute of the season thus far and has been a key figure for the Bavarians in their defensive run. He will be replaced by Daniel Van Buyten, who partners former City man Jerome Boateng in the centre of defense.
They will face stiff opposition in City, however, who have won five of their opening six Premier League games, and are tied on points with leaders and local rivals Manchester United. Though they only managed a draw at home against Napoli two weeks ago, the Citizens still have been given favorable odds even to win their group.
Bayern head into tonight's match on a fine run of form which includes nine consecutive wins in all competitions, and a clean sheet in each of those matches. Their 2-0 victory away to Villarreal in their Champions League opener gave the Germans an early two-point lead in Group A.
