The game is over! Mario Gomez, Franck Ribery and Bastian Schweinsteiger were on target in the first half, and the German international striker completed his brace from the spot in the second period. Hertha Berlin improved after the break, but it was too little, too late as Bayern Munich won 4-0. Some interesting results here ... Wolfsburg lead against Nurnberg, while Borussia Monchengladbach equalise against Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayern Munich setting up a siege on Thomas Kraft now as Hertha Berlin seem unable to cope with the hosts' pressure.
Ben-Hatira is replaced by Moraes. I guess the ex-Hamburg's man's mother can get started on the barbecue for Jerome Boateng already. The two players and their families had a bet on the winner of this match beforehand.
A long pass by Ribery reaches Kroos, who somehow manages to squared for Gomez, but Roman Hubnik made a crucial intervention as he hoofed the ball away.
LAHM! The Bayern Munich captain is released with a chipped pass over Hertha Berlin's defence, controlled the ball on his chest, but saw his finish from near the penalty post superbly blocked by Thomas Kraft.
Bayern Munich passing the ball around comfortably, looking for an opening in Hertha Berlin's defence.
One interesting piece of statistics here ... Bayern Munich completed 92% of their 337 attempted passes. The phrase ' A team of Xavis ' comes to mind.
Hertha Berlin are looking much livelier after the break, but seem unable to find a way past Bayern Munich's defence.
Switzerland international Fabian Lustenberg replaced Patrick Ebert at half-time for Hertha Berlin.
The second half begins ...
The first half is over! Bayern Munich have had a superb game so far, and already lead by three goals after striker by Mario Gomez, Franck Ribery and Bastian Schweinsteiger. Hertha Berlin have not been much of a challenge for the Bavarians so far, but they are sure to give the hosts hell after the break. Join us after the break for the second half.
SO CLOSE! Boateng nearly scores his first goal for Bayern Munich! The defender was released down the right and sent a superb shot from outside the box just wide of the left post!
Yellow Card Raffael
MULLER! Mario Gomez manages to slip past Mijatovic and Kobiashvili, but it is denied a goal by Kraft, who can only block the ball into Muller's way. The World Cup 2010 Golden Boot winner decided to take the shot on the volley, but Roman Hubnik stood strong to deny the Germany international.
First shot at goal for Hertha Berlin as Rafael sends a shot way over the bar from outside the box.
Bayern Munich hovering around Hertha Berlin's defence like vultures, but not spending much energy as visible. Markus Babbel's men seem really distraught now.
MULLER! WHAT A MISS! The attacking midfielder was given an immense chance inside the box, but failed to blast into the net as he send the ball over from seven yards out.

The game looks more like a training session now! Jerome Boateng shoots a speculative volley from 30-yards out, but his finish misses wide of the left post.
Mario Gomez fails to reach a long ball from Schweinsteiger as Kraft rushes off his line and claims the delivery.
Not much happening on the pitch as a quick break for Hertha Berlin is stopped before it could even develop as Tymoshchuk tracks back to dispossess Patrick Ebert.
Even the fans in the stands seem to have dozed off as Bayern Munich are already looking set for three points after taking a 3-0 lead.
Bayern Munich passing the ball around comfortably, while Hertha have every body behind it, waiting for half-time.
Another chance for Bayern Munich as yes another delightful cross from Boateng reaches Schweinsteiger, but the midfielder fails to find the target with his diving header.
Well, Markus Babbel certainly hoped for a better start to this game, but his charges could surely have done better than conceding three goals before the match has even reached the 15-minute mark.

Goal Bastian Schweinsteiger
GOAL! 3-0! BAYERN MUNICH SCORE AGAIN! Nightmare start for Hertha Berlin! Bastian Schweinsteiger was picked out by Franck Ribery in space outside the Old Lady's penalty area and slid a shot in the left corner to make it 3-0.
Ben-Hatira demands a penalty after he crashed into Boateng on the left side of the box, but the referee is having none of it.
Well, the Old Lady seem shell-shocked by this development as they now have to score three goals to beat a team that has not conceded a single strike in any competition since match day one of the Bundesliga.
