Louis Van Gaal's men had no problem finding the back of the net tonight...Bayern Munich claimed vital three points in their quest for the title as they disposed of Freiburg at the Allianz Arena. Martin Demichelis opened the scoring with a fine header before half-time and Mario Gomez doubled die Roten's advantage after the break.
Substitute Stefan Reisinger clawed one back for the visitors, but Anatoliy Tymoschuk and Toni Kroos struck for the Bavarians. Edson Braafheid scored an own goal in the waning minutes of the game and the match finished 4-2.
The game started slowly with neither team threatening to break the deadlock in the early going. Most of the action commenced in midfield as the game was getting increasingly scrappy.
A goal eventually came in the 40th minute when Martin Demichelis headed from a corner kick from Danijel Pranjic on the right. This strike eventually proved to be the catalyst the game needed as there was much to come in the second half.
The match became more open after the break as Freiburg were coming out of their shell. Despite their efforts to get back into the game it was Bayern Munich who got another goal through Mario Gomez in the 61st minute.
Freiburg's response came three minutes later when substitute Stefan Reisinger headed past Hans-Joerg Butt to get the visitors back in the game but ten minutes later Anatoliy Tymoschuk restored Bayern's two goal lead with a fine long-range strike.
There was more to come, however, as Toni Kross scored a wonderful goal near the eighty-minute mark with a cracker from distance. With three minutes to the final whistle substitute Edson Braafheid put one in his own net as the game finished 4-2.
Following tonight's result Bayern Munich are seventh in the table just ahead of Freiburg on goal difference. Die Roten's next game is a visit to Borussia Moenchengladbach in a week, while Freiburg host Mainz on the same day.
