A game of two very different halves. The first being difficult to watch, so was the lack of action. However the second soon livened up as we saw somewhat of a goalfest at Allianz Arena. Bayern return to Bundesliga action next Saturday with a visit to Moenchengladbach while Freiburg host current leaders Mainz. Anyway, hope you enjoyed your dose of Friday night Bundesliga action, I certainly did. I've been Luke Matthews, remember to catch up with all the Bundi action over the weekend! Goodnight;.
Bayern win 4-2 after a rather exciting final half-hour. Some great goals on show especially Toni Kroos' 30 yard thunderbolt! Most goals Bayern have scored in a game this season but defensive frailties show themselves once again. However Bayern fans will be happy as they replace Freiburg to go upto seventh in the table.
Own Goal Edson Braafheid
TORRRR FREIBURG! Shocking own-goal this. Some excellent buld-up play down the right from the away side results in Felix Bastians whipping a dangerous ball into the box. Inexplicably the substitute Edson Braafheid seems to forget he's not a Freiburg striker as he smashes the ball into his own net. Strange stuff.
Surely game over now for the away side! This will be Bayern's biggest victory of the season.
Assist Bastian Schweinsteiger
Goal Toni Kroos
TONI KROOS WONDER GOAL! The 20-year-old picks up a pass from Schweinsteiger 35 yards out and drills the ball into Baumann's top left corner! Spookily the goal bares an uncanny resemblance to Schweinsteiger's superb strike against Werder Bremen on Tuesday night. Awesome effort.
Yellow Card Ömer Toprak
Mario Gomez really should have a hat-trick here. The ex-Stuttgart man is presented with two glorious opportunities within a minute of each other. The first sees him drag the ball wide, a la Mueller. The second is even worse as the German international skies the ball over the bar.
Yellow Card Papiss Cissé
Should be 4 for the Bavarians! Another counter-attack sees Gomez play in Mueller just inside the box who somehow drags his effort wide of Baumann's left post. Poor miss.
Assist Danijel Pranjic
Goal Anatoliy Tymoshchuk
ASSIST NUMBER THREE FOR PRANJIC! Arguably against the run of play Bayern attack as Pranjic makes a brilliant run towards goal. The Croatian squares to his right with Tymoshchuk in space. The Ukranian drives the ball low into the net from 18 yards, his first goal in the Bundesliga!
SO CLOSE FOR FREIBURG! Great play by Reisinger sees the substitute play a cross to Abdessaki who volleys it at goal. Butt makes a great save but Cisse gets to the rebound. However his effort is cleared by Tymoshchuk!
GREAT BLOCK! Some nice approach play from Bayern sees Mueller cut the ball back to Tymoshchuk who is waiting on the edge of the area. His effort is goalwards but Toprak makes an excellent block.
All of a sudden we have a game on our hands. Freiburg looked like throwing the towel in after Gomez' header but fair play to Dutt's men, they have shown great spirit to get back into this.
Assist Anton Putsila
Goal Stefan Reisinger
SUPER-SUB!!! Freiburg are straight back in it, 2-1! Anton Putsila chips a ball into the box and substitute Stefan Reisinger heads in! The striker has only been on the pitch for 90 seconds. Game on!
Assist Danijel Pranjic
Goal M. Gómez
TWO PRANJIC CORNERS, TWO GOALS! This time the Croatian left-back whips in anoteher great corner as Mario Gomez is allowed acres of space to divert his header past the helpless Baumann. Very poor defending.
Wastefull from Thomas Mueller. The young striker/winger is in acres of space on the corner of the Freiburg box. However the Golden Boot winner dwindles on the ball and allows his weak pass to be intercepted by a Freiburg defender. Bayern were in there. What has happened to Mueller's confidence this season?
GREAT PLAY FROM SCHWEINSTEIGER! Bayern's midweek cup hero plays a delicious chipped ball through to Mario Gomez. The striker tries to put it past Baumann but credit to the young 'keeper who turns it over the bar.
Frieburg are struggling to really cause Bayern any problems of note. Will Dutt be thinking of making a more offence minded substitute in search of that elusive equaliser?
Yellow Card Anton Putsila
Oh dear. Freiburg's Belarussian Anton Putsila decides to go for goal from 25 yards out. It's high, wide and not so handsome.
The second period has started in a similar fashion to the first. Bayern seeing more of the ball but not really making the most of it.
Daniel Van Buyten
Bayern get us under way for the second-half. Hamit Altintop is off injured and replaced by Daniel van Buyten. Tymoshchuk will move back into midfield with the Belgian defender reuniting with Demichelis.
Hopefully we will get a little more action this second-half. It has been a desperately poor half of football but the joys of the game are that no half's the same. Can Cisse get himself and Freiburg level with Bayern?
HALF-TIME HERE! Bayern head into the interval with a 1-0 lead. Very few chances in this one so far but the home team are now in the ascendancy. How will Freiburg react? Surely Robin Dutt will look to set out his team in a more attacking manner?
Thomas Mueller is looking for a penalty but the referee is having none of it. Oliver Barth appears to chop down Mueller just inside the area but the ref waves play on. Maybe Mueller was already going down?
Bayern are looking a lot more confident now. Can Freiburg keep it at 1-0 going into half-time?
Assist Danijel Pranjic
Goal Martín Demichelis
Just what Bayern and the under-fire Demichelis needed. The defender scored his first goal in the Bundesliga seven years ago against none other then Freiburg. Small world.
GOAL OUT OF NOWHERE! Pranjic whips in a great corner from the left and Martin Demichelis makes a near post run to thump in a powerful header past Baumann. Advantage Bayern!
Are we heading towards the sixth 0-0 of the Bundesliga this season? If so, Bayern would have been involved in four of those! Shocking statistic.
Effort for Bayern and from an unlikely source. Andreas Ottl picks the ball up 25 yards out and smashes it goalwards. His effort is rising and misses the target by about five yards. Not a bad effort though.
Baumann is yet to be tested by the Bayern attack. No wonder why Bayern are struggling so bad for goals this term.
Freiburg look very good at the moment, Bayern have no answer to their defence.
As we approach the half-hour mark this one looks like being a stalemate. TV footage shows Ribery in the crowd. Oh how Bayern miss him.
Very evenly-matched this one. Both sides seeing equal amounts of possession and both struggling to find that killer through ball.
Should have done better! Toni Kroos plays a great ball to Mario Gomez but the striker can only drag his 12 yard effort wide of the goal
Not much happening here. Interestingly Papiss Cisse has scored more goals this season in the Bundesliga (eight) than the whole of the Bayern team.
Bayern are really struggling to settle at the moment. The confidence just doesn't appear to be there for van Gaal's men.
FIRST CHANCE! Cisse peels off the back of Schweinsteiger from a Freiburg set-play but can only direct his six yard header wide of Butt's goal. Should have done better there.
And he's back on, running rather gingerley however. Kroos whips in a free-kick for Bayern but it's easily cleared.
Demichelis looks in a spot of bother here after a collision with Putsila. Ironically the Argentinian was a late replacement to the Bayern defence after Badstuber picked up an injury warming-up.
Still no shots on goal but both teams are playing at a good tempo. Surely only a matter of time until we see either Butt or Baumann tested.
The away side are looking very well organised so far. Looks like they are set out to try and hit Bayern on the counter-attack.
Slow start to this one in a game Bayern will be desperate to win. Victory would see die Roten climb at least four places in the league.
Home side are seeing the majority of the ball at the moment but no chances of yet as they seem content to knock it around in midfield.
Papiss Cisse and Yacine Abdessadki get us under way here at the Allianz Arena. Bayern are wearing their red and white home kit while Freiburg in an all blue number.
Hello and welcome to Goal.com's coverage of the Friday evening Bundesliga tie between Bayern Munich and Freiburg at the Allianz Arena. Bayern are struggling down in 11th position at the moment while Freiburg sit in a healthy seventh. However the Bavarians will be fully expected to build on their midweek DFB Pokal victory over Werder Bremen to win tonight. Yet with the champions struggling for goals, could their be a shock on the cards tonight?
