  • All over!!! Bayern have won it and they move into the promised land that is third place and Champions League football. It was not pretty but one magic combination between Ribery and Robben proved enough to prise open the Gladbach defence. A bitter blow for Lucien Favre's Fohlen, who have it all to do if they are to make even the relegation play-offs. Thanks for joining me and until next time, Auf Wiedersehen.
  • 90'
I would not say that Schweinsteiger has had his best game today but one has to admire his ability to innovate and his fearless approach to trying something different to unlock this stiffened Gladbach defence. Just the one minute of injury time...
  • 89'
Stranzl carelessly gives the ball away around the halfway line. And Bayern bide their time before Schweinsteiger tries a cute chip, which he cannot get underneath and Bailly makes his ground to his right to cling on.
  • 87'
Bayern just seeing out this game in the Gladbach half as Ribery takes a corner before winning another soon after. Not too many men committed forward and just as well as it is a poor delivery headed away in spectacular fashion by Arango, who stooped at the near post.
  • 86'
    SubstitutionRoman Neustädter Roel Brouwers
  • 86'
Robben delightfully slides the ball to Ottl who is foiled by Dante as Gladbach make their final change. Roel Brouwers, once the finest goalscorer among defenders in the league, replaces Roman Neustaedter.
  • 84'
    Yellow CardArjen Robben
  • 84'
Gladbach look a little drained now mentally and physically. Robben storms down the left and leaves everyone trailing in his wake. As he approaches Bailly, he looks to round the former Genk goalkeeper and win a penalty, His theatrical tumble to the ground will win no Oscars and earn him a needless booking to boot!
  • 83'
Fresh from that last challenge, Klose receives the ball in Klose territory but he shoots wide on his left foot after somehow not being picked up by the Gladbach defence. He really should have scored there!
  • 82'
Stranzl is down holding his face after being caught accidentally by Klose who was trying to control the bouncing ball but ended up giving the Austrian a boot in the face as he lowered his head to bravely (or foolishly) win the duel.
  • 81'
The home crowd are in fine voice now after Robben's goal. It was beautifully worked by Robbery! Bayern now look a lot more confident in possession, as shown when Robben skins Daems - taking the one ball side and running around the other to make a complete fool of the Belgian!
  • 80'
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh should have been another but Miro Klose's touch lets him down inside the box as Dante went asleep! Gladbach now have to go for it and revert to the more cavalier attitude they showed in the early part of this season, one, which of course has landed them in so much trouble.
  • 78'

    GoalArjen Robben
TORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR FC BAYERN MUNCHEN!! TORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROBBEN!!!!!! Arjen Robben has brightened up Bayern's day!!!!! Robben broke forward down the centre, shook off two men, found Ribery who peeled off slightly to the left. The Frenchman then completed the one-two and Robben took one touch before guiding the ball beyond Bailly into the back of the net!! A huge goal with Hannover losing in Dortmund!!!
  • 77'
Ottl and Schweinsteiger conspire to hammer the ball into the wall, which had been carefully placed after much deliberation.
  • 76'
Pranjic feigns to go down the outside but then goes through the gears and drives infield. Just as he is looking dangerous, his feet are taken from under him by Stranzl and Bayern have a free-kick in a central position just outside the penalty box.
  • 74'
Reus, who is so often capable of the sublime, pulls off the ridiculous with an intended pass for Idrissou being made to look silly as the substitute does not read the intentions of the sought-after youngster. A simpler option was preferable in that situation.
  • 73'
So close!!! Ribery lifted the ball into the box, standing it up and there were three players queueing up to head it in. Gomez was the one who was afforded the chance and he puts his hands to his head after nodding the ball wide. At the other end, Kraft is involved in a mad dash for the ball with Idrissou, which he bravely wins.
  • 72'
    SubstitutionMike Hanke Mohamadou Idrissou
  • 72'
    SubstitutionToni Kroos Andreas Ottl
  • 72'
    SubstitutionThomas Müller Miroslav Klose
  • 72'
Here we are then - both coaches rolling the dice. Mo Idrissou will come on in attack in Mike Hanke's stead And Bayern have introduced Miroslav Klose for Thomas Mueller, as well as Andreas Ottl for Toni Kroos.
  • 71'
Arango looks to stand the ball up for Reus who is on the penalty spot but Kraft anticipates the Spaniard's intentions and he fists the ball clear with both hands.
  • 70'
Mind you, as we have seen against Schalke, Reus is capable of the truly spectacular. On that occasion, he hit the ball so hard that he was swept of his feet. Both sides now preparing to ring the changes...
  • 69'
Bayern want the free-kick after Robben feels he was impeded unfairly by Dante. Gladbach refuse to be drawn into a debate and Reus almost catches them cold on the counter-attack. He outpaced Luiz Gustavo then tried a van Persie style volley from a narrow angle with his left-foot but he could not repeat the Dutchman's superb goal against Barcelona. For the record, it was struck a lot less powerfully and it landed on top of the net!
  • 68'
Lahm has to be alive to the presence of Hanke as he slides the ball back to Kraft. Gladbach are preparing to introduce the mercurial Mo Idrissou, who on his day can be a real handful.
  • 67'
    Yellow CardMarco Reus
  • 67'
Nordtveit fouls Ribery and hands Bayern a shooting opportunity from a dead ball. Ribery is teed up by Kroos but he blasts the ball high into the stand. Klose has now joined Ottl on the warm-up trail.
  • 66'
For a split second it looked as if the way would open up for Mike Hanke but Luiz Gustavo was there in the nick of time to get the ball away. Gladbach do look a little brighter since the substitution. Of course they do run the risk of leaving themselves more open at the back.
  • 65'
The substitution has just interrupted the ryhythm this game had, or whatever rhythm it had built up, which isn't much it must be said. Matmour looks to drive down the right flank but there is no escaping Pranjic's clutches as the ex Heerenveen man puts in a fine sliding challenge.
  • 63'
    SubstitutionPatrick Herrmann Karim Matmour
  • 63'
Here we have our first change. Young winger Patrick Herrmann, who almost set up that chance for Reus, makes way for the Algerian striker Karim Matmour.
  • 62'
Bayern raining crosses into the penalty area, testing Gladbach's mettle. The latest from Robben strikes the stomach of Daems and rebounds behind for a corner, which again Bayern fail to take full advantage of. If you're going to play for a corner from time to time, make sure you can capitalise!
  • 61'
Ribery nearly shifts the ball out to the right with a nonchalant shuffle of the right boot and although the cross skips over the penalty box, Mueller's perseverance wins Bayern a corner. Ribery takes to the back post and Dante heads clear.
  • 60'
And Bailly is also down with an injury. The Belgian is being attended to by two medical staff. Christofer Heimeroth is warming up as a precaution. Meanwhile, Karim Matmour is stripped down to his white kit and about to enter the field.
  • 59'
Now a second corner for Gladbach, which is headed away by Gomez at the near post. Play grinds to a halt when Schweinsteiger is flagged offside.
  • 58'
Vital clearance from Badstuber!! Herrmann broke down the right-hand side in acres of space left by Pranjic. He looks for Reus in the box, who had called for the ball. Luckily for Bayer, Badstuber is stationed in exactly the right spot and he slides in to make a crucial interception and scramble the ball behind his own goal for a corner.
  • 57'
Bayern are stuttering into life. Ribery worms his way down the left and cuts the ball back to Kroos who does not catch the shot on his left peg and it passes through to Bailly who makes a comfortable save. Whether Bayern stutter sufficiently into life before the 90 are up remains to be seen but one cannot help feeling that the visitors need to be a little more proactive like they were at the beginning.
  • 56'
The game is still as scrappy as it was before the break but in a way that is doing a disservice to the defences of both sides. Both teams are defending as an entire team putting their foot in cleanly to dispossess the attacking player.
  • 54'
OHHHHHHHHHH Ribery!! Almost a moment of magic to light up this game. He comes inside Jantschke and unleashes a powerful shot on his right-foot, which has Bailly beaten all ends up but he could not quite impart enough swerve to take it inside the post.
  • 53'
Ribery floats the subsequent set-piece over the wall without too many problems but also over the crossbar. Andreas Ottl is warming up on the touchline for Bayern.
  • 52'
Pranjic cleverly drops the shoulder and bursts down the left. His deflected cross is punched clear by Bailly, who somehow got there with several bodies in attendance. Schweinsteiger is then fouled by Nordtveit, who tripped the midfield maestro cynically.
  • 51'
Oh dear! Lahm looks to jink his way into the penalty box but Mario Goetze he is not and after a couple of stepovers, he laughably loses his footing as he goes for the hat-trick!
  • 50'
Ribery has the chance to drive into space and get up to top speed. He beats the first man Jantschke but is taken down by the second - Stranzl, who curiously pleads his innocence. The subsequent free-kick comes to nothing as a white shirt heads it clear. Progressively, Gladbach have taken less of the initiative in this match and it may well cost them eventually.
  • 49'
Daems does well with a decisive interception against Mueller. Schweinsteiger looks to whip the ball in for Gomez with his left-foot but once again the big striker is caught offside.
  • 48'
Ribery embarks on another slalom coming in off the left but he is snuffed out by a plethora of white shirts. Pranjic and Ribery are looking to link up better than they did in the first-half but from the resulting throw, they get their wires crossed and Gladbach punt the ball upfield through Stranzl.
  • 47'
Excellent tackle from behind from Neustaedter to take the ball from Robben, who goes down clutching his ankles but there was never any question of a foul in this instance.
  • 46'
Welcome back for the second-half, neither side have made a change at the break. Gladbach kick us off.
  • And there it is. Bayern and Gladbach scoreless at the interval and the crowd boo the players off. It has been a lacklustre opening 45 with few clear-cut chances created. Gladbach will be the more content outfit in the dressing room. Join us in fifteen minutes for the resumption and hopefully some goals!
  • 45'
Pranjic buys a corner, which Ribery whips in to the near post. Badstuber flicks it on but there is no-one at the back stick to help it in as we approach the end of the first-half.
  • 44'
Bayern are forced to return the ball back to Kraft, a decision the crowd do not voice their approval of. Quite the opposite in fact. Bayern seem a bit bereft of ideas here short of giving it to Robben and hoping for the best.
  • 43'
A double teapot from Robben who is denied the throw-in before Schweinsteiger is penalised for a trip on Arango and told to calm down by referee Christian Dingert.
  • 42'
Ribery half shows Jantschke the ball then takes it away cruelly coming inside but he sees no opening and the ball goes back into midfield as Bayern spread it gradually from one side to the other. Robben finds the eye of a needle to pick out Gomez, who backs into Stranzl but the Austrian keeps his cool to nick the ball away safely.
  • 40'
Luiz Gustavo covers some ground - first he nips in ahead of Reus who had broken into the penalty box before he executes a sliding tackle to dispossess Herrmann down the right wing.
  • 39'
Excellent work for Mueller who picks the pocket of Daems before crossing into the centre, where Dante puts it behind for a corner. Bayern starting to apply just a little more pressure here. And as I say that, a woeful ball over the top from Luiz Gustavo into no man's land.
  • 37'
Pranjic sells Jantschke down the river before looking to whip in a cross at speed but he cannot wrap his left peg around the ball and it slices behind Bailly's net for a goal-kick.
  • 36'
Clean challenge from Jantschke on Ribery as he drifted into space to pick up an inventive ball from Schweinsteiger. Gladbach win a throw down the right, which is hurled in by Neustaedter but confidently dealt with by Badstuber in his own penalty box. Bayern look to spring a counter but Dante is back and he gets across. We then have a farce of two balls on the pitch as both sides claim and then take a throw-in.
  • 34'
Even Ribery, with his newly rediscovered turn of speed cannot quite keep in an almost delightful Schweinsteiger ping down the left, which the midfielder played with minimum effort. And there's another errant ball out of play from Kroos, to add to Schweinsteiger's in a similar area earlier in the first-half.
  • 33'
    Yellow CardPhilipp Lahm
  • 33'
Excellent anticipation from Gomez and then Ribery but Gladbach are equally aggressive in the tackle and they win it back but Hanke cannot drive them forward on the counter. Both sides are proving adept at breaking up the other's pattern of play.
  • 31'
Ribery is taken down by Stranzl in the centre-circle much to his annoyance and Bayern are able to build again in possession. They fail to make much headway though against the well-organised wall of white. Lahm picks up a booking for tugging at the shirt of Neustaedter.
  • 30'
...and the left-footed inswinger is headed behind for a corner. Arango also takes that but it is a poor and predictable delivery into Kraft's arms.
  • 29'
Pranjic does a Robben by coming inside but he runs into trouble and loses out in the midfield battle. Hanke is the beneficiary but Schweinsteiger barges into him from behind ensuring the former Hannover striker makes no further progress. Free-kick for Arango to take..
  • 28'
Herrmann threatens to go on one of his mazy runs before looking for the high cross to the back post, which would find only a 15ft tall striker and so Kraft is able to recover the ball and put it down for a goal kick.
  • 27'
A rare wayward ball from Schweinsteiger who grossly overhits the pass to the left and it sails out of play. It's quite a scrappy game in that neither side has got a foothold on proceedings yet, which will suit the visitors who need to scrap more than any other side in the top flight.
  • 25'
Robben leaves the first man for dust but is stopped in his tracks by Neustaedter who then proceeds to give it away. Kroos attempts to slide the ball down the inside right channel for his captain Lahm but he gets just too much purchase on the pass and it runs out of play.
  • 24'
Robben again looks to work up a head of steam and the ball strikes Dante going behind for a corner, which Gladbach eventually clear though in a rather unconvincing manner. They invite Bayern onto them again but are relieved when Kroos is caught offside down the left flank.
  • 23'
Pranjic looks up and seems to have picked out Gomez with a glorious defence-splitting ball however, the Bundesliga's sharpest shooter had mistimed his run and he was duly flagged for offside.
  • 22'
An uncompromising sliding challenge from the side from Stranzl on Pranjic has left him clutching his head but the tough Austrian will soldier on. On second thoughts, that was a rather better chance for Neustaedter than I first thought but even so, he was always lunging for the ball.
  • 20'
Arango finds the five-man wall with his left-foot. The second ball comes into the box and reaches Neustaedter, who slides in at the back post but cannot divert the ball the right side of the post, from his point of view. A half-chance at best.
  • 19'
Excellent screening from Schweinsteiger who comes in with a clean challenge to capitalise on Herrmann's poor touch before he draws the foul from the Gladbach youngster. Moments later, Reus goes down after being brushed aside illegally by Luiz Gustavo.
  • 18'
Robben jinks inside and unleashes a fizzing shot on his left foot, which Bailly makes a dog's dinner of. Fortunately for him, the ball ricochets onto the thigh of Gomez, balloons in the air and Bailly takes an easy catch underneath his own crossbar.
  • 17'
After what seems an age shuffling the wall into the right position, Robben curls the ball over the crossbar - again a sigh of exasperation from the home fans. It was noticeable how Neustaedter, Dante and Nordtveit all surrounded Mueller to deny him the space he craves between the lines.
  • 16'
Nordtveit trips Mueller just outside the box as the Bayern player goes over in between three white shirts. Free-kick for Bayern and Robben is lining it up.
  • 15'
Schweinsteiger attempts an audacious lobbed pass to Robben, which unfortunately does not quite come off. Badstuber takes one for the team in order to nip a Gladbach counter-attack in the bud.
  • 14'
Luiz Gustavo clumsily bundles over Reus in midfield as he fails to stop himself in time but Gladbach cannot capitalise on another opportunity to attack with a wild pass into touch.
  • 13'
Timely interception from Kroos in the midfield and now Bayern look to enjoy the sustained spells of possession that has become their trademark under van Gaal. Dante again is in the right place at the right time as Mueller looks to thread it through to Gomez.
  • 12'
Dante is almost outfoxed by a Gomez interception but he manages to recover the ball in his own defensive third. Stranzl looks for the ball over the top down Gladbach's left-side however Lahm is aware and he helps the ball back to Kraft, who immediately looks for Gomez with his goal-kick. The ball goes through to Bailly, who is rather lucky to still be in the team after his outrageous blunder against Lautern last time around!
  • 11'
The first sight on goal for Robben, who turns on a sixpence to carve out the room to shoot on his left peg but the finish does not match the gymnastics and he skies the ball over the crossbar to a collective groan from the Bayern supporters who have rightly come to expect the highest of standards from Robben.
  • 10'
Gladbach are looking to hit the likes of Reus and Hanke in behind the Bayern defence with early balls - not hopeful punts upfield as it were but through-balls down the channels to try and utilise the speed Gladbach possess in attack and catch Bayern off guard.
  • 9'
A poor cross from the left from Reus however Schweinsteiger loses his footing at the vital moment and can only clear it behind his own goal for a Gladbach corner. Reus takes it straight into the arms of a grateful Thomas Kraft, who bowls the ball out into the opposition half.
  • 8'
Ribery takes up a central position and plays the ball out to the space he would normally occupy on the left flank. Needless to say, there was no-one at home and the ball trickles out of play to his embarrassment.
  • 7'
Gladbach look to surprise Bayern but the long shot from 30 yards out from Reus is weak and along the ground. Kraft goes to his right and makes a comfortable save. At the other end, Ribery is almost played in but the through-ball had just too much purchase.
  • 6'
The whistle blows in Gladbach's favour much to the surprise of Robben, who took a slight knock to his ankle. Nothing to be worried about for the Dutchman who was guilty of going in with the high foot. Gladbach look to spring an attack at the other end but Hanke can only watch as Luiz Gustavo shepherds the ball behind.
  • 5'
Gladbach have looked to be positive in the opening stages and rightly so as they need a win. Reus strays beyond the last defender and is quickly flagged for offside.
  • 3'
Kraft has to be alert as Hanke loses the ball but it almost breaks to Reus, however Bayern's goalkeeper is out of his goal to pick the ball out.
  • 2'
Reus looks to battle his way through the Bayern defence and Luiz Gustavo does superbly to use his pace and strength to get back, position himself between player and ball and induce the foul to relieve the pressure.
  • 2'
Reus looks to battle his way through the Bayern defence and Luiz Gustavo does superbly to use his pace and strength to get back, position himself between player and ball and induce the foul to relieve the pressure.
  • 1'
Robben, who is fit once more, has his first foray down the right and he beats two men before playing it inside. Ribery then has a go and he wins a throw off Jantschke.
  • 1'
Our referee Christian Dingert blows his whistle and gets us underway. Bayern are in their usual red and white kit with Gladbach in black and white. The home side kick us off.
  • On a day also witnessing one of the world's great sporting occasions with the Cricket World Cup final in Mumbai, it is to be hoped that today's game in the Allianz Arena will be remembered for events on the pitch after the unsavoury incidents that marred the end of the St Pauli - Schalke encounter last night.

  • Guten Tag und Willkommen to first Saturday after the international break in the Bundesliga. With just seven games to go, there is still a lot to play for at both ends of the table and this clash between old rivals Bayern Munich and Borussia Moenchengladbach is certainly typical of the excitement that is in store. Bayern need to win to keep alive their hopes of Champions League football, while hoping Dortmund do them a favour against Hannover. And Lucien Favre's Gladbach are desperate for the three points as they battle against the odds to ensure Bundesliga survival.
