Valencia hold on to secure a huge win at the Camp Nou, leaving Barca's title bid in a mess. A few weeks ago Luis Enrique's men were 13 points clear at the top of the table and seemingly coasting to another league success, but they now end this weekend level on 76 points with Atletico Madrid. Today they had a host of chances and on another day probably could have scored five, but they were thwarted by Diego Alves' brilliance and were not helped by some poor finishing. It leaves them with it all to do in the league as the title race becomes even tighter.
90' + 3' FULL-TIME!
90' + 1' There will be three minutes added on here.
89' A HUGE MISS! Iniesta surges into the left side of the area and clips a fine cross into the dange zone. Pique peels away from his marker, brings it down on his chest and has just Alves to beat from eight yards, but he somehow fails to hit the target. Sensational miss.
José Gayá
Rodrigo
Valencia CF
88' Final switch for Valencia now, as Rodrigo makes way for left-back Gaya.
87' HOW HAS HE MISSED! Rodrigo does well up the left flank as he gets behind Roberto and plays the ball into the area, laying it on a plate for Alcacer to finish Barca off once and for all, but he completely miscues his effort and the hosts escape.
Neymar
Yellow Card
FC Barcelona
86' Neymar now finds his way into the referee's book, as he catches Cancelo late. To be fair, the Valencia man deserves an Oscar for that theatrical performance. He was hardly touched.
84' VALENCIA SURVIVE! Still Barca pile the pressure on. The ball is hoisted into the area from the right and it falls kindly for Neymar and he looks destined find the net, but his effort is blocked right in front of goal.
82' NEARLY! Mustafi does excellently again, as he halts Neymar in the area, before offloading to Siqueira. But the left-back is soon tackled by Busquets, who then flashes a teasing delivery across the face of goal, with Suarez almost getting his head to it.
80' That was close! Mascherano does really well to rob Barragan of possession out wide and he quickly plays the ball forward to Suarez. The Uruguayan looks to have the better of Mustafi, but the offside flag bails Valencia out. It was a close one, but seemingly correct.
78' It's going to be a long final 12 minutes for Valencia. The home side are piling the pressure on, probing with intent and keeping their visitors encamped in their own area.
76' WHAT A SAVE! Rakitic, who has been quiet today, finds himself just inside the area and he manages to make space for himself before getting a left-footed shot away. The ball looks destined to find the bottom corner but Alves sensationally keeps it out.
João Cancelo
E. Pérez
Valencia CF
74' Rakitic wins a free-kick after cynical foul from Parejo, but Suarez is caught offside at the set-piece, thus rendering it a waste. Valencia then opt to withdraw Perez, with Cancelo on in his place.
72' Good defending from Valencia again. Messi darts towards the visitors' backline but can't squeeze a pass through. Mustafi then blocks another pass, with Siqueira charging back to prevent it going for a corner.
70' Good play by Pique. The centre-back robs Rodrigo and then dribbles past Parejo, before offloading to Busquets. He then finds Neymar, but the Brazilian's long ball goes out for a goal-kick. He has not been good enough today.
André Gomes
Yellow Card
Valencia CF
68' Andre Gomes is released through on goal by Alcacer's brilliant flick but is cruelly flagged offside. The Portuguese midfielder then picks the ball up, wrestles with Bravo and then squares up to Mascherano. He gets a yellow card for his antics.
67' The referee pauses things briefly as he goes over to have a word with someone in the Barcelona technical staff. That might have something to do with Luis Enrique's rather vocal protestations.
65' Valencia try to hit back instantly, with Alcacer causing problems in attack. He manages to hold things up and then Gomes gets a shot away, but Pique blocks it.
Jordi Alba
Assist
FC Barcelona
63' Excellent run and pass from Alba, who has been a constant threat on the left today.
L. Messi
Goal
FC Barcelona
63' GOAL!!!! BARCA PULL ONE BACK! Messi is at the centre of things, as he gets the ball in the middle, plays it out to the left and then continues his run into the centre of the area. Alba latches on to it and drives into the danger zone where the Argentine coolly strokes home his 450th goal for the club.
62' It's all Barca at the moment. The visitors are being penned into the own area currently, with the home side probing constantly. Can Valencia hold on?
Paco Alcácer
Santi Mina
Valencia CF
60' First change for Valencia now. Mina is the one to make way and Alcacer, a genuine focal point in attack, is on. Certainly not a defensive change from Ayestaran.
58' What a waste! Brilliant play by Messi, as the forward darts in from the right and slips an excellent pass in behind Barragan for Alba. The left-back looks like he can't make his mind up between shot and cross and the end product can be described as neither, as he puts the ball behind for a goal-kick.
56' Good move from the visitors. Rodrigo latches on to a ball up the right flank and then cuts a decent pass in to Mina's feet on the edge of the area and his shot is easily saved by Bravo.
54' The Barca fans, players and technical staff are up in arms as Mascherano tackles Rodrigo, knocking the ball against him and out for a throw-in, but the officials award it in Valencia's favour.
52' Once again, Messi takes the free-kick just outside the Valencia area, but as before in the first half, his kick goes straight into the wall.
Dani Parejo
Yellow Card
Valencia CF
51' Parejo can't cope with Neymar's quick feet, as the Brazil star dribbles past two tackles and then is clattered by the Valencia midfielder. The referee wastes no time in getting the yellow card out.
50' Mustafi has been sensational so far today and he again cuts out a pass to Suarez, stepping in front of the striker at the last second to steal possession. The Uruguayan would have been through otherwise.
48' The home side have been right out of the blocks at the start of this second half, with Rakitic dragging an effort wide after a Suarez cut-back and then the Uruguayan is caught offside in a promising situation.
46' Off we go for the second half. Luis Enrique sent his team back out about five minutes early - can they mount a response?
Well, well, well. Barcelona find themselves trailing 2-0 at the break and are in danger of losing a third successive league game for the first time in 13 years. Luis Enrique's men arguably could have score four in the first half an hour but they failed to take their chances and thus allowed Valencia to gain a foothold. The visitors' first goal certainly had more than a stroke of luck about it, but they have been solid since and their second was brilliant all round. Barcelona find themselves in a serious crisis now.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME!
Dani Parejo
Assist
Valencia CF
45' + 1' Excellent play by Parejo, as the midfielder finds space, bides his time and then picks out the perfect pass to find Mina's run.
Santi Mina
Goal
Valencia CF
45' + 1' GOAL!!!! VALENCIA DOUBLE THEIR LEAD! Absolute brilliance from the away side! Pako Ayestaran's men knock the ball around well on the right with a series of one-touch passes, before Perez knocks it back into the centre. Parejo picks out a fine pass behind Sergi Roberto and Mina applies an expert finish across Bravo. Barca are is deep, deep trouble here.
44' Valencia are doing a good job at the moment of seeing this out until the break, as they get into the attacking half once again. Parejo wins a throw-in from Mascherano, wonders away from the ball again and draws jeers from the home fans.
42' Valencia eye another chance for a counter attack, as Rodrigo charges into the Barca half and then feeds Mina to his right, but Mascherano is on him in a flash and halts the danger.
L. Suárez
Yellow Card
FC Barcelona
40' Suarez is the latest to go into the referee's book. The striker appears to have said something uncalled for and the official flashes the yellow card in his direction.
40' ALVES TO THE RESCUE! Messi's free-kick smashes straight into the wall, but the home side keep the pressure on. Iniesta lofts a defence ball into the danger zone and Messi gets his head to it, forcing the Valencia goalkeeper into yet another smart save and then Suarez fouls Siqueira.
39' Back come Barca again. Messi takes up possession in a central position and runs at the heart of the Valencia defence, before getting tripped from behind by Perez. The midfielder is very lucky to escape a booking there.
38' The Barca corner once again comes to little, though they do remain in possession and on the front foot. In the end Messi clips a cross into the danger zone and Rakitic puts a tame header wide of the target.
37' Suarez is being followed everywhere by Mustafi at the moment. Again the Uruguayan gets into the left side of the area and only gets a corner for his troubles after more fine defending from his German shadow.
Piqué
Yellow Card
FC Barcelona
35' Pique now sees his name go into the book, as the centre-back is guilty of a cynical foul on Rodrigo.
34' Messi hasn't been quite as effective lately, arguably partly down to him bizarrely occupying deeper positions. This time he slips a pass into the area from such a position and goes straight to Barragan. The right-back almost lets Neymar beat him, but he becomes alert to the Brazilian's presence just in time.
33' Valencia have really grown into this. Again they apply pressure to the Barca defence, working the ball across from right to left. Eventually Gomes feeds Siqueira again, but on this occasion his attempted shot from a wide position is wild and it goes well wide.
31' Valencia are taking their time over a throw-in in the Barca half, wth Parejo dropping the ball and casually walking away and the home fans aren't happy with the perceived time wasting.
29' The Barca corner comes to nothing, though, and then Alba wastes a crossing opportunity after getting the ball back.
28' Barca are back applying pressure once again as they seek an equaliser. Suarez is again released into the left side of the area and has Mustafi for company, with the German forced to concede a corner.
I. Rakitić
Own Goal
FC Barcelona
26' GOAL!!! VALENCIA STUN BARCELONA! The visitors catch their hosts napping, as Gomes feeds Siqueira into the left side of the area and his pass into the danger zone takes a wicked deflection off Rakitic and goes past Bravo.
25' FINE SAVE! Brilliant from the home side, as Bravo plucks a free-kick out of the air and then instantly launches the ball up the pitch and finds Neymar. The strikers takes it in his stride sensationally, before teeing up Messi, whose curling effort is parried away by Alves.
23' AGONISINGLY CLOSE! Suarez does well to win a corner from Mustafi and the resulting set-piece is whipped into the near post at speed. Mascherano gets the flick-on with his head and the ball appears to be going in, but Suarez latches on to it and nods it just over.
21' Valencia are starting to see more of the ball in the Barca half now, with the home side guilty of giving away a few cheap fouls and thus inviting pressure on to themselves. The latest Valencia free-kick is wasted, though, as Perez knocks the ball out for a throw-in.
19' That last opportunity certainly represented a glimmer of hope for the visitors, though they'll have to do better in future. The crowd does appear to have been silenced a little.
17' BARCA ESCAPE! Valencia catch their hosts out on the counter attack with Rodrigo fed by Perez, but the Spanish striker fails to hit the target from 18 yards with only Bravo to beat.
Barragán
Yellow Card
Valencia CF
15' Out comes the yellow card for the first time, as Barragan unnecessarily clatters into the back of Neymar after the ball had gone. A strange decision by the right-back.
13' ALVES SAVES! Valencia are caught out by a quick Barca free-kick, as Iniesta clips the ball over the defence for Neymar. The forward races through and attempts to loop the bouncing ball over the visitors' goalkeeper, but he manages to reach and palm it away.
12' Barca certainly don't look short of confidence here. They are playing some wonderful football. Messi is the craftsman initially as he dazzles Parejo in the centre and plays the ball out to Alba, with Neymar stepping over it. The left-back plays a first-time pass into the goal mouth and Suarez launches himself towards it, but the ball goes right across the face of goal.
10' Fantastic football from Barcelona. They work the ball across to the right, where Messi plays it first-time inside to Rakitic, who instantly flicks it on with clever backheel to Suarez. The Uruguayan shoots with his first touch and drags it wide.
8' BARCA DENIED! The champions are really ramping up the pressure here. This time Suarez gets into the left side of the area and escapes Fuego, before crossing to the unmarked Messi. The Argentine's control is a little heavy, but he does get a shot away and Diego Alves gets in the way.
6' Another decent move from Barca. The hosts work the corner well, initially playing it short and then Messi clips the ball in to the far post, but Suarez's volley goes over.
5' VALENCIA ESCAPE! Good play by the home side. Initially Neymar darts insides and evades a couple of challenges before seeing a pass cut out. The host remain on the front foot, though, and Iniesta picks out Alba's run. The left-back gets the ball into the danger zone and their Brazil striker sees an effort blocked. Sergi Roberto does too, but his shot produces a corner.
3' It's Barca seeing more of the early possession, as they knock it around patiently in midfield. Eventually Messi, who is dropping deep again, plays a cross-field pass over to Neymar but ultimately sees the ball go for a goal-kick.
1' Off we go! Valencia get things started in Camp Nou.
The players are out on the pitch with kick-off just a few moments away.
Barca's opposition today, Valencia, are not in a particularly great place themselves at the moment either. A 2-1 win over Sevilla last week eased their growing relegation worries, taking them eight points clear of the drop zone, but they've been poor all season. The defeat of Unai Emery's men will have restored some belief and confidence, but this is the same team - with a few personnel changes - that lost 7-0 here at the Camp Nou at the start of February. Either way, they will be eager to prove a point after that massacre.
Luis Enrique has resisted the urge to make wholesale changes from the poor 2-0 defeat to Atletico. Barca struggled to craft clear-cut opportunities at times at the Vicente Calderon even with Luis Suarez, Messi and Neymar all starting. That usually terrifying trio are all in the starting XI once again, with the only outfield change seeing Sergi Roberto replace Dani Alves at right-back. The Brazilian found himself in hot water after their Champions League exit for posting a controversial video in which he was reported to be impersonating his girlfriend dismissing the significance of the defeat.
Barca's Champions League exit at the hands of Atletico on Wednesday raised further questions about Luis Enrique and Barca, with Lionel Messi enduring his fifth goalless match in a row, his longest such drought since 2010. Little has gone right for the Catalans since the beginning of March and their season is in serious danger of unravelling completely, while some might suggest their European exit renders the campaign a failure regardless of what happens domestically in the league and the cup.
Few will need reminding about the fact that all eyes are on Barca today after their Champions League exit and the Liga title race being blown wide open. Luis Enrique's men were 13 points clear at the top not long ago and appeared destined to ease to success once again. However, a draw to Villarreal followed by defeats to Real Madrid and Real Sociedad have seen their lead at the top eradicated, with Atletico Madrid's 3-0 win over Granada moving them level on 76 points with Barca. There is no margin for error anymore.
